Roberts (elim, f'05) Endgame press: ***** ITALY SAVES EUROPE! ***** Rome, Italy (AP) -- The proud people of Italy have finally eliminated the evil forces that have recently plagued Europe with a devestating and bloody war. It should not go unmentioned that the trusted allies of Italy made PEACE IN EUROPE a reality. Both ENGLAND and RUSSIA supplied the essential and necessary support needed to remove the dreadful French and the over- bearing Germans from power. The German and French people have embraced the Italian forces with welcome arms. An untold numbers of letters have flooded ITALY expressing thanks and graditude for liberating the people of these oppressed nations. The consensus from East to West is that if the governments of Germany or France return to the Earth from the Moon, or where ever they go, it will be TOO SOON! The government of Italy has announced that a New United Italy (NUI) has been established that will consist of ITALY, SPAIN, FRANCE, BELGIUM, HOLLAND, AUSTRIA/HUNGARY, GREECE, NORTH AFRICA, and a good portion of GERMANY. Negotiations are currently underway with RUSSIA regarding the co-occupation of GERMANY. It is believed that RUSSIA will withdraw completely from GERMANY. Funding for the repair of all areas that have been damaged as a result of this terrible war has been authorized by the NUI government. The three remaining forces in Europe have committed to working together to restore the standard of living to all of the people of Europe. Only brief mention of the long lost leaders of TURKEY and AUSTRIA/HUNGARY was given in the press release from the government today. The official position of the NUI government is that they too have no home in Europe and will be brought to immediate justice if they are found. Paul's notes: Well, this is it. Once again, thanks to everyone -- it's been fun and interesting to watch (to say the least)! I'll see you all in other games, I hope... Albania (Reuters) -- In a press conference often drowned out by the deafening roar of defensive canons, Emperor Elvis announced his plan for an international reunion tour which would start almost immediately. The "Back from the Dead Tour", as it has been named, will start in the U.S. with a pre-tour show in New Haven, CT (as the Rolling Stones recently did). It will then make its way to Japan and on through Asia until it again reaches the shores of the Mediterranian, finishing the tour in Elvis's new adopted homeland of Austria-Hungary. When asked for the reasons for his tour, Elvis replied "Well, y'know, I just thought it was time to take a break from Europe and move on. It's been a while since I toured the States and I can only break the hearts of my American fans for so long. . ." When asked if his grave military reverses in the Balkans had affected his decision to leave the country, Elvis gave a strong denial. "My temporary problems with Russia and Turkey have nothing to do with my decision to tour." he said. Many observers have noted, however, that Russia and Turkey were conspicuously missing from the list of tour dates released later that day. [P.S. -- It's been a fun first PBM game for me with a couple of close calls! Just wanted to say thanks to my *very* steadfast ally Italy and I hope to see everyone again in other games! ;-) See y'all later... -- PV] BRITISH TO STRENGTHEN RESISTANCE FORCES New York (INS) The British Government in Exile revealed at a news conference today plans for increased guerilla warfare against the French occupying forces. "Thanks to the splendid exploits of our Scandinavian troops, and of Scottish fishermen well versed in the smuggler's trade, resources are now reaching the North of England despite the French blockade. We expect to equip an army sized group that will begin the process of driving the cursed Frogs from our shores." The commandant of French "Force 1066" in London refused to comment on the British statement. ******************************************** Pete's Points: Things are getting exciting! Will the Russo-Turkish alliance be able to overcome the French juggernaut? Will the English re- surgence be a serious blow to France? Stay tuned! Next episode will air at 10 PM EST Nov 8.
