Zurich (AP) -- Governments all over the world were relieved today as the "war to end all wars" slowly ground down to a finish, leaving Europe in total control of the triumvirate of Italy, England and Russia. Forced into submission by their combined forces, leaders from Austria, Turkey, Germany and France fled the planet in an attempt to save what little they could of their crumbling empires. "Ve shall form zee goverments in exile and return to zee Earth once again!" the French prime minister was heard to exclaim as he boarded his private space shuttle. The leaders have currently fled to the Moon, but, fearing pursuit, are discussing relocating to Pluto for safety. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Paul's Notes: Well, it's offical. Italy has now "gained control of Europe" with the possession of 18 supply centers at the end of 1908 -- after a number of GM and player switches and countless mail/deadline problems, it looks like we can now all take it easy. Italy has sent me info for the first three years of the game, so a full report will be coming out in the next couple of days as the last official communication of the game -- if anyone wants to make endgame statements, send them to me by Wednesday night and they'll get included. Congratulations to Keith Mortensen, winner, and his two erstwhile allies Raymond Setzer and John Murray! Thanks to the players and I'll be seeing you in other games... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Centers: England: 5 0 / Lon, Liv, Edi, Nwy, Den, Swe Germany: 0 -3 / [Kie], [Hol], [Bel] Russia: 10 0 / War, Sev, Rum, Con, Bul, Ank, Smy, Mos, StP, Ber Italy: 18 +4 / Rom, Nap, Ven, Tri, Vie, Tun, Bud, Ser, Gre, Mar, Spa, Mun, Por, Bre, (Kie), (Hol), (Bel), (Par) France: 0 -1 / [Par] Lost centers listed in brackets, centers gained listed in parenthesis (). -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Winter 1906 of game NAVARONE (BNC 1989AX) (GM is pwoodruff@orion.cf.uci.edu/ Peter Woodruff) Retreats for AUTUMN 1906 AUSTRIA: F Alb retreats off the board ENGLAND: F Nth retreats off the board GERMANY: A Mun - Ber Builds/(Disbands) for WINTER 1906 FRANCE: A Mar RUSSIA: A War TURKEY: F Smy Units Austria: A Tri Vie England: A Nwy France: A Edi Hol Mun Bur Sil Mar F Lon Nth Eng Wes Lyo Germany: A Kie Ber F Den Bal Italy: A Tyr Ven F Tun Tyrr Russia: A StP Boh Gal Bud War F Bla Turkey: A Gre Bul F Con Ion Aeg Smy ************************** Pete's Points: Thanks for being prompt.
