HARPOON apologies From: randy@uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu (Longshot) Date: Thu, 28 Dec 1989 07:03:00 +0000 I would like to apologize to the people in my PBM Harpoon scenarios. I have run into several problems, not the least of which being the loss of the mail messages I had archived. Additionally, I found several "bugs" in my system: + I feel that, for truly strategic play, players should know less about their enemy's makeup. You SHOULD have your own copy of the data annex to look up stats when you know what you are seeing, but with little exception you should not know your enemy until you paint him on radar. + Several people tried to choose starting parameters that did not agree with the scenario set-up. Unfortunately, I did not notice these until the game was in progress. If you do not have the scenario book, let me know. If you do, and I am using a scenario from there, READ IT. Additionally, Not everyone, apparently, could get mail through to me. So, after the 1st, I will try again. I may not use the simple scenarios from the game this time. I have purchased "Battles of the Third World War," and it contains some truly spectacular situations. Further news will be here. I am taking the next week or so to work out these problems in my system, so that I might do a better job. Watch for the announcement here. Randy -- Randy J.
