England continues to hang on but is now trapped between the Russian and French marines. The military observers here in Switzerland find this a most interesting and enjoyable conflict to adjudicate. Thanks. The following is an extract taken from "The Moscow Mail". "TZAR ANGERS AS SULTAN SLAMS PEACE TALKS" (by our Palace corespondant) IN an unusual development this morning, the Tzar himself released a terse statement via his press secretary expressing his "grave disappointment" that the Sultan of Vick refused to come to the negotiating table to thrash out once and for all "our unfortunate misunderstandings concerning the sovereignty of certain very sensitive border territories". A reliable source within the Palace confided to this reporter that the Sultan had refused to respond to all attempts to contact him because a mad Shaman in his court had somehow managed to convince him that Tzar Ivan was the Ebellzebub incarnate. According to the source's best intellignece, every attempt to discredit him had foundered because this Shaman has been able to nip each scandal that threatened his coveted position in the bud. "A truly dangerous man," admitted the Palace source, "I pray this Rasputin character never comes here." The following is an extract taken from "The Swansea Sentinel". "ADMIRALTY OUTRAGED BY VICIOUS RUMOURS" (by Griff Ooulsnam). REAR Admiral Sir Thomas West, commander of the last remnant of the British Fleet, has strongly denied "scurilous allegations" made by the "gutter press" (a scathing reference to the lately founded "Le Journal a Londres") that his seamen have been singing politically unsound variations of old navy shanties. The article in question contested that "Les Jack-Tars Jolies" were heard to have been singing "Poor Britania no longer rules the waves / Britons will all pretty soon be slaves" and "Yo-ho-ho et une bouteille de Rothschild". The Admiral admitted to being "stricken aghast" when the news reached his ears. "If such a thing were found to be true," asserted Sir Thomas sincerely, "it would prove disastrous for morale. The men would lose their self-respect, their raison d'etre, if you will. "Life," he said gravely, "is hard enough for us at the moment without havin g things like this to contend with, n'est-ce pas?" When asked if he had any plans of taking the fleet to Ireland, he replied sardonically, "I'd sooner go to Liverpool!" Finally I asked him if he were not afraid of the French fleets in the North Atlantic and the Channel to which he replied; "Certainly not! Those fleets are all cock and no balls." =============================================================================== BISMARCK -- SUMMER 1905 ----- German A Ber retreats to Pru. ----- UNIT POSITIONS: England: A F Liv France: A Bel Hol Ruh F Ech Iri Mao Nao SpaS Germany: A Pru Kie F Italy: A Alb Ber Mun Tri Ven F Buls Gre Ion Russia: A Bud Rum Ser War Yor F Bla Den Nth Nwg Nwy Turkey: A Ank Con F Smy Eme =============================================================================== That's all for now!
