It is foggy, the small boat slips through the water silently, oars muffled. A slight crunch as it reaches the shore, and a man gets out. At first sight, you would think him old, for he is stooped and moves slowly. But closer inspection reveals that he is still in his prime, and that the appearence of age is simply weariness. He turns briefly to salute the rapidly disappearing boat, and then starts up the beach. As he walks, he slowly straightens up, and he is no longer shuffling, but striding firmly. He has no plans, no destination in mind, but he knows this: he *will* return, and Germany will be great again. ************************** Pete's Points: I have a proposal for a French victory (with all others as survivors). Votes will be accepted up to the next deadline; the vote must be unanimous. I overlooked the fact that A Ven could retreat to Tus or Rom as well as Pie; also, I forgot to move A War to Sil. Both errors have been cor- rected. Next orders due Wed. Dec. 6. Press: London (Reuter's), January 2, 1909 His Majesty's Government to-day announced that the British Expeditionary Force in Armenia will march to Mesopotamia, where it will embark on steamers for India. This Expeditionary force, which singlehandedly (well, OK, so it had some German help) conquered three-quarters of the Russian Empire, has followed in the footsteps of Xenophon and his Thousand. The unit has been retired to India; participants in this campaign will have a Gothic letter R placed next to their names in the Army lists. The British public has thrilled to the adventures of this Force, which began its career with a standard move into Belgium, but then got carried away, and, through a strange concatenation of circumstance, conquered Saint Petersburg, Muscovy, and the Crimea and Kuban. After expressing thanks for the good will of the Turkish peoples and leaders, the commander of the Force, General Haig, led the march down from the mountains of Armenia. OPERATION OVERLORD: Spring 1907 (BNC 1989HM) (GMed by Davisje@crd.ge.com/Jon Davis) The Vote for a English/French draw fails by a vote of 2 YES and 3 NO. A proposal for a English/French/Russian/Turkish draw has been made. Send in your votes with your next moves. WAR RAGES IN RUSSIA! ENGLISH INFILTRATE INTO ST. PETERSBURG! Much hinges on this turn, but as soon as I can show that the game will end in a draw, I will do so. Likewise, if I or anyone else can prove that no more stalemate lines exist which can be reached, I will resign. For now, I must vote against the Eng/Fre draw proposal, but I will go ahead and propose an Eng/Fre/Tur/Rus draw for next turn. France: Press ===== Er, Doug, a bit difficult to hold a stalemate line if someone's behind you, isn't it ? Oh, and "Here fleetie, fleetie, fleetie ... " , I love the smell of Napalm in the morning !
