The Russian fleets lay seige to Norway, but are repelled and forced to retreat from the superior English Navy. The remaining German forces would have been annihilated last season, but for the support of a division of idle French cavalry stationed in Burgundy. However, this season the very same Frenchmen (under the leadership of Sir Wicie de Wacie) staged a short-lived invasion of their own. One German footsoldier is reported to have complained "I know not which direction the bullets will be coming from next!" In the South, the Italian and French navies continue to contest rights to the profitable Mediterranean shipping channels. It is rumored that the Americans will intervene if this conflict continues much longer. T. Wad, president of Bigbucks Co. threatened, "We have a God-given right to a steady supply of both French wines and Italian Art. It says so right here in our Constitution." In the East, the Austrians took advantage of the Russian's concentration in the North to avenge last season's attempted stab in Rumania. The Russian armies seemed willing this season to assist Austria in overcoming their mutual enemy, Turkey. However, the Austrian fleets declined the offer claiming "We want you!" The Turks took advantage of this squabble to regain control of Bulgaria. The Russian's apologized, saying "But we didn't *really* want Rumania. You can't take Moscow. We have enough troubles as it is!" It should be interesting to watch these situations develop. More in tomorrow's rag. And remember... I'm always looking for commentary on other countries than your own. =============================================================================== CONSTITUTION: Fall 1905 ---Austria---------------------------------England----------------------------- A RUM - Bul FAIL |A KIE S (F Hel - Den) A Ukr - MOS |A HOL S (A Kie H) A WAR S (A Ukr - Mos) |F SKA S (F Swe H) A SIL - Ber BOUNCE (Mun/Bal)|F Hel - DEN A SER - Gre BOUNCE (BuS) |F BEL H F Aeg - SMY |F SWE S (F Hel - Den) F EME S (F Aeg - Smy) |F NTS S (F Nwy H) ---Italy--------------------------------|F NWY S (F Swe H) CUT (StN) A VEN S FRE (A Mar - Pie) NSO |---France----------------------------- A TUS - Mar FAIL |A GAS - Mar BOUNCE (Bur) F TUN - Tys BOUNCE (Wme) |A BUR - Mar BOUNCE (Gas) F GOL C (A Tus - Mar) |A Mar - SPA ---Germany------------------------------|F NAF - Tun FAIL A MUN - Ber BOUNCE (Sil/Bal)|F WME - Tys BOUNCE (Tun) A RUH - Mun FAIL |---Russia----------------------------- ---Turkey-------------------------------|A ARM - Ank BOUNCE (Con) A CON - Ank BOUNCE (Arm) |A SEV H F BLA - Rum FAIL |A FIN S (F StN - Nwy) F BUS - Gre BOUNCE (Ser) |F BAL - Ber BOUNCE(Mun/Sil) ----------------------------------------|F STN - Nwy FAIL (2:2) --------------------------------------- POSITIONS Austria: 7 A Rum Mos War Sil Ser F Smy Eme England: 8 A Kie Hol F Ska Den Bel Swe Nts Nwy France: 5 A Gas Bur Spa F NAf Wme Germany: 2 A Mun Ruh Italy: 4 A Ven Tus F Tun GoL Russia: 5 A Arm Sev Fin F Bal StN Turkey: 3 A Con F Bla BuS SUPPLY CENTERS Austria: 9 Vie Bud Tri Ser Gre Rum (Bul) MOS WAR SMY England: 9 Lvp Edi Lon Bel Nwy Hol Den Kie SWE France: 5 Mar Par Bre Spa Por Germany: 2 Mun Ber Italy: 4 Ven Rom Nap Tun Russia: 2 (War) (Mos) StP Sev (Swe) Turkey: 3 Con (Smy) Ank BUL BUILDS Austria: 2 A Vie, A Bud England: 1 A Lon Russia: -3 (A Arm), (F Bal), (F StN) FINAL POSITIONS Austria: 9 A Rum Mos War Sil Ser Vie Bud F Smy Eme England: 9 A Kie Hol Lon F Ska Den Bel Swe Nts Nwy France: 5 A Gas Bur Spa F NAf Wme Germany: 2 A Mun Ruh Italy: 4 A Ven Tus F Tun GoL Russia: 2 A Sev Fin Turkey: 3 A Con F Bla BuS PRESS (anonymous): HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Like a set of baseball cards, the entire Balkan area has been traded back and forth between Austria, Turkey and Russia for the past 5 years. War-torn Bulgaria in particular no longer publishes obituaries, but lists instead the survivors. This year, Turkey made additional inroads on the Austrian position, gobbling up Bulgaria again. The Turks then moved on Greece but were repelled in a heated battle by the brave Serbian militia, now under Austrian command. "We are dead tired with this conflict," the Serbian ex-commander-in-chief said, "We can get along with either the Austrians or our neighbors to the east, but we must have an end to this endless struggle." At press time, however, the end was not in sight. Austria in return, picked up Smyrna and split the North and South Russian commands with a sudden drive to Moscow. Russia is left wondering where that Austrian onslaught came from and vows to fight to the last man/woman/freshthing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some choice quotes from that theater: Elmer Fudd: "Sssshhhhhhhhh. Be vewy, vewy quiet. We're hunting Wussians. eh-eh-eh-eh-eh!" Anonymous: "Are we Wussians or Wabbits? Charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (later): "Wun away... wun away... wun away......" Heard from the South: "Death before dishon... <boom> <silence>" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the west, the Germans refused to die, despite being bombarded by armies of four different countries this last year. Their only comment was "Thank God they can't shoot straight!" In an exclusive interview, their commander revealed plans to retake Kiel, Denmark, and Holland and to force France out of Burgundy this next year. Unfortunately, he was dragged away by some men in white coats before he managed to give us the details. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Italian admiral, returning from a short vacation in Tunis, found himself under attack by thousands of frogs. Under his brilliant command, the Italians not only managed to stand off the first fleet, but also return in time to hold Tunis. However, the Italian armies were not so successful this year. The first division was forced to hold in Venice to put down an uprising of French sympathizers, while the second was soundly trounced in an amphibious invasion of Marseilles. "We're soldiers, not sailors!", one sergeant griped when given his orders. "We can fight fine, but not when we're seasick!" Asked about this unusual strategy, the Italian head command refused to comment. =============================================================================== CONSTITUTION: Spring 1906 ---Austria---------------------------------England----------------------------- A RUM S (A Mos - Sev) CUT (Bla) |A KIE S GER (A Mun - Ber) A MOS - Sev COLLIDE |A Hol - RUH A War - UKR |A Lon - SWE A SIL S GER (A Mun - Ber) |F SKA C (A Lon - Swe) A Ser - GRE |F Den - BAL A Vie - BOH |F Bel - HOL A Bud - SER |F Swe - GOB F SMY S (F Eme - Aeg) CUT (Con) |F NTS C (A Lon - Swe) F EME - Aeg BOUNCE (BuS) |F NWY S RUS (A Fin - StP) ---Italy--------------------------------|---France----------------------------- A Ven - PIE |A GAS - Spa FAIL A TUS S (A Ven - Pie) |A Bur - MAR F TUN - NAf COLLIDE |A SPA - NAf FAIL F GOL - Wme FAIL |F NAF - Tun COLLIDE ---Germany------------------------------|F WME C (A Spa - NAf) A Mun - BER |---Russia----------------------------- A Ruh - MUN |A SEV - Mos COLLIDE ---Turkey-------------------------------|A Fin - STP A CON - Smy CUTS |-------------------------------------- F BLA - Rum CUTS | F BUS - Aeg BOUNCE (Eme) | ----------------------------------------- POSITIONS Austria: 9 A Rum Mos Ukr Sil Gre Boh Ser F Smy Eme England: 9 A Kie Ruh Swe F Ska Bal Hol GoB Nts Nwy France: 5 A Gas Mar Spa F NAf Wme Germany: 2 A Ber Mun Italy: 4 A Pie Tus F Tun GoL Russia: 2 A Sev StP Turkey: 3 A Con F Bla BuS PRESS Russia, in a surprise move, has developed the two pronged attack. With armies in Finland and Sevastopol, Russia has set himself up for a devastating sweep of the entire European theatre. With forces so split up, you would think the lines of communication would be tenuous to say the least. But, the World News Report has uncovered Russia's secret weapon. The telepathic Generals, Tweedle Dumski and Tweedle Deeski! Not only can these two generals instantly communicate with each other, but they are also able to make other people think their own troops are Austrian troops. Looking closely at the map, we see that Russia in actuality has 11 units! They are unstoppable! America is contemplating entering the war simply to stop the atrocities perpetrated by the Russian forces. Unfortunately, it's presently in committee. England and Austria, in a surprise joint venture, have begun the relocation of the remaining Germans into Berlin. They promised to surround the city with a 5 meter high wall of concrete and wire fencing, and to guard it continually to prevent any Germans from escaping the city. "A noble idea," said the French minister, "But it will never work. It is surely not possible to subdue a whole city for any extended period of time." In any case, it is doubtful that the current cooperative atmosphere between the two major powers will last long enough to complete the task. =============================================================================== CONSTITUTION: Fall 1906 ---Austria---------------------------------England----------------------------- A RUM S (A Ser - Bul) |A KIE S (A Ruh - Mun) A Mos - SEV |A RUH - Mun CUTS A UKR S (A Mos - Sev) |A Swe - PRU A SIL S GER (A Ber H) |F Ska - NWY A GRE S (A Ser - Bul) |F BAL C (A Swe - Pru) A BOH S GER (A Mun H) |F HOL S (A Kie H) A Ser - BUL |F GOB S RUS (A StP - Mos) ILL F SMY - Con CUTS |F NTS S TUR (F Bla - Rum) ILL F Eme - AEG |F Nwy - BAR ---Italy--------------------------------|---France----------------------------- A PIE - Mar BOUNCE (Gas) |A GAS - Mar BOUNCE (Pie) A Tus - ROM |A Mar - BUR F Tun - TYS |A SPA S (A Gas - Mar) F GOL S (A Pie - Mar) |F NAf - TUN ---Germany------------------------------|F WME S (F NAf - Tun) A BER S (A Mun H) |---Russia----------------------------- A MUN S (A Ber H) CUT (Ruh) |A Sev S (A StP - Mos) CUT (Ret ARM) ---Turkey-------------------------------|A StP - MOS A CON S (F BuS H) CUT (Smy) |-------------------------------------- F BLA S (F BuS H) | F BuS S GER (A Mun - Tyr) ILL (Disband) | ----------------------------------------- POSITIONS Austria: 9 A Rum Sev Ukr Sil Gre Boh Bul F Smy Aeg England: 9 A Kie Ruh Pru F Nwy Bal Hol GoB Nts Bar France: 5 A Gas Bur Spa F Tun Wme Germany: 2 A Ber Mun Italy: 4 A Pie Rom F Tys GoL Russia: 2 A Arm Mos Turkey: 2 A Con F Bla SUPPLY CENTERS Austria: 10 Vie Bud Tri Ser Gre Rum (Mos) Smy War SEV BUL England: 9 Lvp Edi Lon Bel Nwy Hol Den Kie Swe France: 6 Mar Par Bre Spa Por TUN Germany: 2 Mun Ber Italy: 3 Ven Rom Nap (Tun) Russia: 2 StP (Sev) MOS Turkey: 2 Con Ank (Bul) BUILDS Austria: 1 A Vie France: 1 F Mar Italy: -1 (A Rom) FINAL POSITIONS Austria: 10 A Rum Sev Ukr Sil Gre Boh Bul Vie F Smy Aeg England: 9 A Kie Ruh Pru F Nwy Bal Hol GoB Nts Bar France: 6 A Gas Bur Spa F Tun Wme Mar Germany: 2 A Ber Mun Italy: 3 A Pie F Tys GoL Russia: 2 A Arm Mos Turkey: 2 A Con F Bla =============================================================================== That's it for this issue, folks!
