AR -- Portal R'lyeh From: raven@pawl.rpi.edu (Jennifer Lynn Piatek) Date: Mon, 20 Nov 1989 19:48:33 +0000 The dinner is splendid, and afterwards you sit back and relax with your glasses of wine (all except for Kelso, who has requested a stool rather than a backed chair, the former being much more comfortable). Tarrin, being a non-drinker of alcohol, requests another drink. Hachiro, Kelso and Tarrin accept the vial given to them by Lady Jenelle. Both Hachiro and Kelso query her as to what is in the vial, and she replies that it is a healing potion (to cure afteraffects of portal travel). After dinner, Marin approaches Laisir with a troubled look on his face. He addresses the Mage, "Excuse me, Shaman among Shaman, but perhaps I have misunderstood, I have listened to the prophecy, and i find your reading of it hard to understand. As in the way of most prophecies, it seems wont to be read for good or ill. In my land, we are plagued by a great Demon, whose servant, the Ice Shaman, wreaks ill on all he holds in thrall. The Great Ice Demon he serves, however, is but child to the Great and Fell Demon Lord of Water, who I was taught "In R'lyeh dead (the demon's name) lies dreaming." I fear that the dead king that would rise here is this abomination unto man for I believe that he is counted a king among the demons, and that the wards that would be sundered are those placed there by heroes ancient beyond knowing who first locked the demon into his prison. I hope that I have merely read this situation wrongly and the fear and anger for my homeland I project upon yours, do you know more of this prophecy that might prove it means to be read well?" Laisir looks thoughtfully at Marin for an instant, and then replies, "I sense that you are troubled and confused at this situation, and that perhaps I can alleviate that with a brief explanation of The Prophecy. The Prophecy is ancient, and none of us know of its origins. We do know, however, that it is older than this Evil, and the king it speaks of is Good. Llwellyn was the greatest king this land has or will ever see. Most importantly, however, is the effect on the land of not fulfilling The Prophecy. Without the return of a King, R'lyeh will become the home of the Fanatics of Doom, and it will eventually affect the lands and dimensions around us. We must have a King to unite behind, to help us organize our efforts, and a Good King who will oppose the Lord of Evil. Even should the worst happen and we raise a demon king, then the end result of not having a king/having a demon king will be the same. We are in a desperate situation. There is no choice." Peter Herrick takes his seat, and after drinking the wine containing the liquid from Jenelle's vial, he says "Uh...I don't know exactly what's goin on here, but if I can help I will. I have few skills or talents that will be of use, but I will do what I can." Midnight follows suit, requesting at this time that if the party is split that he and Peter would like to remain together. Gwydion rises out of his chair when the meal, and proposes a method of splitting the party: Party 1 will consist of: Hachiro, Dorian, Shuitsu, Helecites, Kelso, Marin Party 2 consists of: Luagha, Midnight, Peter Herrick, Serroli, Casha, Tarrin If there are any objections/suggestions, please make them before you leave, as you probably will not run into each other afterwards. Jenelle offers the vials again to those who did not accept them earlier (Marin, Serroli, Luagha, Suitsu, Helecites, Casha, Dorian). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next move will go up on Wednesday, November 22. However, the move following that one wont go up for another week (Wed, Nov 29) to account for the break. After the split, the parties will be addressed in different moves. Party 1 moves will be under the title AR -- Portal R'lyeh, Party Sarnath Party 2 moves will be under the title AR -- Portal R'lyeh, Party Kadath (i figure the names are easier to remember than numbers) Jen "Whisper things into my brain, assuring me that I'm insane" Up
