Alternate Realities--Portal R'lyeh, Parth Kadath From: raven@pawl.rpi.edu (Jennifer Lynn Piatek) Date: Mon, 29 Jan 1990 06:58:26 +0000 Serroli runs up to join Tarrin, drawing his crossbow and putting away his hammer. He begins to direct the party into a defensive position, but unfortunately he is unable to dodge the snare under his feet. The dwarf is jerked violently upward, and is now hanging approximately six feet in the air, upside down. Hachiro, meanwhile, is looking a bit disturbed with the proceedings. He calmly asserts, "Everyone listen up, no offense, Serroli, but I think that I might be a little bit better of a choice as Leader for now. I have had alot of training in that area." His voice is powerfully compelling, and everyone (with, of course, the exception of Serroli, who can't do much at the moment) finds themselves following his directions. "Quickly, everyone, we are in very hostile territory, and I don't even want to THINK of how big those spiders are. So, please arrange ourselves in the following order: Tarrin Hachiro <Serroli> Casha Peter Midnight This is our best bet, so that we have our thi, uh.....bard (yeah, thats the ticket) in the front as a pair of eyes, and with some fighting ability, myself and Serroli, as soon as we can get him down, the two main fighters, on the flanks to guard against being attacked from the sides, and also they can easily get to the front or rear to assist there. Midnight, our next best fighter with good vision in the rear to watch for rear attacks, and Casha and Peter, our two spell casters in the center, where they can do that voodoo that they do so well, without getting into the thick of it. I suggest if you have weapons getting them ready, because it looks like we are going to be doing some fighting in the near future. As soon as you are all set, I suggest we get moving....." With this, the Samurai moves forward into position, carefully sidestepping the snare at his feet, and draws both swords in the fastest Iai draw any of you have ever seen. There is a rustling in the woods, and suddenly, three large arachnids, standing a good 5-6' in height, surround the party, one in front of Tarrin, one next to Hachiro, and the third in the empty space where Serroli would be standing. ***Combat Begins*** The party has the first move.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, running combat: When you send your move, give me what you are going to do for 5 rounds of combat (i.e. what weapon and when). Also, include what you would do in 'surprise' combat situations--i.e. if you're disarmed, seriously wounded, etc. Spell casters should speicify what spell they're casting and what round, and if they are casting an area affect spell, if they are checking the area to see if there are any party members in it. Please include your targets in the description (i.e. Im going to attack the spider in front of Tarrin with my longbow), and secondary targets, if your opponent is defeated or otherwise removed from your area of combat. ***IMPORTANT note*** This is now a combat situation. Party members who do not send in moves will NOT attack or defend. Neither will they move, so you are conceiveably a stone statue until the move comes in. If this combat works well, we'll keep this system....otherwise, we can figure out and implement a new one.
