So my suggestion would be to speed things up a little. Deadline for Fall 1902 is Wednesday February 21, 1990 at 22:00 h (MET), unless you decide otherwise. You can send in conditional builds/retreats as well, but it ain't necessary. <Press> (Constantinople) The Sultan of Turkey invites everyone to see his new Camel lot. Prizes to anyone who can hit a golf ball out of the site! (London) There ALL out to get me!!!! (St Petersburg) The Czar came home late today, severely disappointed as peace talks with Britain have apparently broken down and it looks to be a severely bloody war which might take years to finally resolve itself. Things do indeed look bleek. Massive amounts of rats all but depleated the nations grain storage, and talk has been heard of hiring a piper, meanwhile the nations leaders are looking abroad for the cheapest prices. <Concluding remark> That's all! Remember, next deadline: Wednesday February 21, 1990 at 22:00 h (MET)! Constantijn |R ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... | Winter '00 of the game SNIKKEL 2 (BNC number not known) (Old-timer game, GM is cwekx@htikub5.bitnet/Constantijn Wekx) Date: Thu, 15 Feb 90 22:18 MET Well here is the Winter press. --- <Snikkel 2 Today> (Berlin) The Kaiser declared that all relations with England would be broken off. "That..that..that QUEEN! Imagine! A country with a QUEEN for a ruler! No one could dare trust a QUEEN!" The Kaiser is said to be preparing for a full scale invasion of England. (Marseilles) The President of France, Maurice Henri Richard, spent his winter vacation in the Riviera. While relaxing, he noticed some boats that did not have French colours floating about the seas. When questioned, local surfers mentioned that Italian fishing boats have been despoiling the waters and destroying the waves. M. Richard was not pleased at all by these reports. He also noticed a piece of land that stuck into the Mediterranean looking suspiciously like a boot aimed at the heart of France. This sight scared M. Richard immensely. (Nice) All rumours of a French invasion of Italy were squashed by the recent purchase of hockey sticks from Canada. Rumours abound that President Richard would attempt to establish his children in Quebec to start a line of great hockey players. (Paris) President Loubet has declared war on Turkey this morning. He called on all major powers in Europe to stop the paganist spread as soon as possible. He furthermore stressed the necessity to kill the German cancer before it has time to grow; it seems that some major European powers, among others Italy, have already promised support for this matter. (Paris) Upon his return from his winter vacation in the Rivieria, President Maurice Richard called together his war council. Murmurs of "Invade Italy", "Invade Germany", "Invade England" and "Invade Canada" were heard. President Richard seemed to indicate that France would attempt to invade Canada, so that his sons and grandsons could become NHL hockey stars in the future. The French fleet in Brest would set sail into the Atlantic Ocean, bound for Canada. (Rome) The minister of defense, mr. Andreotti sr., stated this morning that the Royal forces will not even try to take possession of Tyrolia, Trieste or the Adriatic Sea in order not to invoke Austrian aggression. Our foreign affairs correspondent believes that this statement may imply that the forces seek expansion in the West and in Africa. (Rome) The Pope unveilled his plans for the return to glory of the Roman Catholic Church. He called on all Christian nations to attack and destroy Turkey. "The Holy Land", screamed the Pope, "is ruled by INFIDELS!! We must regain control of the birthplace of our Lord. I implore all good Christians to aid in the return of the Holy Lands to the Church. " The Pope also implored all Christians to return to Catholicism, as the true path of the Lord, Jesus Christ. (St. Petersburg) The Czar declared Turkey to be an outlaw state, and demanded that all nations aid in the destruction of Turkey. He also asked that the renegade Habsbourgs in Austria give up possession of Hungary. "Hungary rightfully is part of the Russian empire. All Slavic nations are rightfully part of the Russian Empire! Any Austrian attempt to annex Serbia will be dealt with violently!!" (Vienna) Our beloved Arch-Duke has declared war on Turkey this morning. A defense ministry spokesman declared this morning that in order to be able to sweep away the evil forces, the glorious Austrian armies first have to secure Serbia, Rumania and Greece, with or without the help of Russian forces. --- That's all for now!
