Squad Leader From: jall@diku.dk (Mogens Jallberg) Date: Tue, 20 Feb 1990 14:45:11 +0000 ************************************************************************* PLEASE NOTE: I post this article for a friend. Please send your comments, suggestions, flames etc. to him, not to me. His address is at the end of this article. ************************************************************************* I am a newcomer to the world of Squad Leader, but not to that of wargames. I have recently bought a 4th edition of the game. I like the game, and it is not as hard to learn as I expected. I only have one question at the moment: Are sidewalks/paths treated like roads ? According to the danish translation it is so, but the original rules can be interpreted both ways (I would have translated them differently) Is there anyone out there who can explain me the difference of SL and ASL, except from the much higher starting price ? It seems like if there are just a few more figures on the ASL counters. Is there also somebody who would send me a description of the SL expansion modules (Cross of Iron etc) ? Which ones to buy ... I am also interested in scenarios you might have constructed by yourself. Please mail me if you do have any ? Is there no one out there playing any of these two great AH war-games ? I am interested in starting a small PBM campaign in both of these games. I will offer myself as GM if no other volunteers. Please mail me. (See the address below, I have no news access myself) RNG server: I have read about a die/RNG server which should exist on some of the BBS's. Is there something like it on the net ? Anybody who wants to create one ? It should receive a mail containing 2 numbers, the first is the number of random numbers wanted, and the 2nd should be the number of sides on the dice. After the two numbers in the first line there must follow mail adresses of all players who has to get a copy of the numbers. This would effectively prevent cheating.
