New Game: BARTER From: prune@myrddyn.hf.intel.com.ogi.edu Date: Mon, 05 Mar 1990 22:49:19 +0000 I am starting a pbem game called Barter. There are four races involved: Wolley, Sacha, Dran, and Lob-lob. Each race has one strength and one weakness. If you want to play, send me your choice of race and your preferred email path. You will receive several data blurbs, a list of resource "chips", and the email paths to the other players. The object of the game is to trade data blurbs and chips to the greatest advantage. At the end of the game, one month after its beginning, you will mail me your selected choice of chips. I will score each submission according to the rules and post the final scores in this group. The scoring rules are entirely contained in the data blurbs. Each player will begin with the same number of data blurbs and the same number of chips. Every data blurb will be sent to more than one player, so no one player will have sole control over any datum. You may trade information as you see fit. To trade chips, each party involved must send me a description of the trade. If all the descriptions are consistent, I will approve the trade and send each player a summary of the current set of chips owned. If the descriptions are inconsistent, I will deny the trade and specify the grounds. Trades may involve transfers of information as well, but I will not oversee, enforce, or acknowledge the transfer of any information; that will be up to the players' diplomacy and gaming spirit. I am prepared to adapt the game to almost any number of players, although I may split it into separate worlds if I get too many signing up. If you'd like to play, send me email by 14 March. I will verify mail paths and begin the game by 20 March. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Intel pays me well for the opinions it wants; the other stuff remains mine. Some of the latter is posted; it's worth what you paid for it.
