France and Germany attacked. Italian government-in-exile digs in in Tunis. English Coast Guard tries to keep invaders out. Russia and Austria push on towards victory. ---------- Vienna (Free Associative Press) Emperor Gotterdamerung today declared war on Germany. He is quoted as saying, "While it was our intent to honor obligations to Kaiser Richard, the change in government gave us the perfect opportunity to re-evaluate our values and goals. We certainly hope that the German people will understand." ---------- Warsaw: (Novosti Press) The insurrection and heavy-handed repression in Poland continues. While calm was reported in downtown Warsaw after the arrival of Prince Smirnoff, mass rioting and arson was widespread in other areas. The Prince dispatched large numbers of troops to restore order, but being unable to read the unfamiliar signs in the Roman alphabet, continued their pursuit of the rebels into western Poland. ---------- MOSCOW: (Novosti Press) Czar Rajeev IV ("the Terrible") announced the revocation of the eighteenth-century Polish Partition Agreements: "The inaction of the Great Powers has shown that only Holy Russia can control the rebellious Poles that have caused so much chaos in Central Europe. My patience is exhausted. All three Polish Provinces are hereby proclaimed as a Colony of the Russian Crown, and are placed under Martial Law. Prince Yakov Smirnoff has been granted complete emergency powers as Governor of Poland. The Cyrillic alphabet shall henceforth be the official script in all of Poland, and the three provinces shall be known as Western, Southern and Central Poland". The Czar further denounced the attempt by the rebels to create a "Polish Corridor" in the north to the Baltic Sea, via Gdansk. In Warsaw, the Prince was allegedly quite pleased with his new powers...he promptly ordered the summary execution of all rebels captured in Southern and Western Poland. Questioned later about a news item in the Free Associative Press of Vienna about Austro-Hungarian troop deployments, the Czar added: "The Old Guard in Vienna continues to think it can rupture Russo-German friendship. It is about time Emperor Herman returned from Rome and put an end to the idle gossips of Vienna. After all, he has is on the record that he thinks executions are fun." ---------- Madrid: The Russian Ambassador to Spain has packed his bags and headed off to an undisclosed coastal location to rendezvous with ships that will take him home. This action was in protest against the depredations of the rag-tag army that returned to Spain after the fall of Marseilles. The leader of the Spanish forces, Generalissimo Francisco has appealed to the Czar for assistance against the invaders. Meanwhile, part of the former Sultan of Turkey's harem is stranded aboard Russian ships in the Ionian Sea. It is feared this interruption of the Harem's Progress may disrupt the plans of the Czar's Admirals, as all sailors have requestedto transfers to the Ionian Fleet. ---------- Russian-occupied England: Grand Duke Dmitri finally arrived at his much sought-after goal. It should be noted that the Czar had dispatched the Grand Duke to the planned wedding of Queen Beulah II in the summer of 1902; however, this fall the Queen and the Grand Duke were married following the successful recapture of Edinburgh, the Grand Patriarch of Moscow doing the honors. In addition to the Grand Duchy of Murmansk, the Queen has bestowed upon him the titles of Prince of Scotland, Duke of Normandy and Acquitaine. The couple intend to take up residence in Edinburgh Castle. Felicitations have poured in from the governments of Papua-New Guinea, Ethiopia, Cyprus, Honduras and Liberia. The Czar has ordered the commissioning of a new fleet in St. Petersburg to bear his presents to the newlyweds. ---------- Bavarian Journal: Hordes of Tyrolian peasants made yet another attempt to visit the Oktoberfest, but Kaiser Erich's troops stoutly defended the Bavarian passes and prevented a repetition of the havoc created last summer. ----- DEADLINES: Builds/disbands are due by 10:00 PM Thursday 1 March. Spring 1905 moves are due by 10:00 PM Saturday 3 March. Remember: Votes on draws must be unanimous. ----- PRESS: MOSCOW: (Novosti Press) Czar Rajeev IV ("the Terrible") declared the success of his Polish campaign ("Operation Polish-them-off"). He declined to comment to newsmen on his future military plans, saying, "It's not germane. Now if you will all excuse me, I have to be somewhere else." --------- Warsaw: (Novosti Press) Prince Yakov Smirnoff, Governor of the Russian Crown Colony of Poland announced that the Polish rebels were on the run westwards, and he would continue in hot pursuit until the last of them were apprehended, "even if this involves violating Belgian neutrality". When reports last came in, it was believed the rebels had fled to Kiel and Hamburg. For reinforcements, another army in Warsaw has been commisioned, and it is expected that the executions in Cracow and Lodz will continue. --------- Russian-occupied Germany: (Novosti Press) In Berlin, Russian troops marched down the Unter der Linden and through the Brandenburg gate. Arriving here in a new Zeppelin airship, Czar Rajeev IV reviewed an honor guard before unveiling a statue of the former Kaiser Richard, who was an ally and close friend of the Czar. Later, His Imperial Majesty addressed a rally of nearly 500,000 cheering citizens: "We were compelled to move in to protect the German people from the invasion by the hordes from Vienna. Not since Attila the Hun have you been in such grave danger, and in the name of Holy Russia I promise to defend this city as if it were my own capital city." Amidst thunderous applause, he concluded: "Ich bin ein Berliner". ---------- Crete: The Russian Southern Naval Command has turned down all transfer requests to the Ionian fleet, which is escorting part of the former Sultan of Turkey's harem to Spain. Generalissimo Franco has once again appealed to the French, Italian and Austrian fleets to guarantee safe passage to the harem, adding: "Otherwise, those Russians will try and get here themselves, and you all know how bad that can be". ---------- Holyrood Palace, Scotland: The newly-restored government of Queen Beulah II and her Consort Dmitri, Grand Duke of Murmansk, Normandy and Acquitaine and Prince of Scotland was also recognized by the governments of Uruguay, Burkina Faso and Guinea Bissau. Lichtenstein became the first European government to recognize the new government, though sources in Vaduz say that this only came after Czar Rajeev IV threatened to cut off all Russian aid to Lichtenstein. ----- DEADLINE: The deadline for Spring 1905 moves is Saturday 3 March. "The beauty of this strategy is its simplicity," Lord Stodgy intoned, "all we need do is leave home with our doors unlocked, letting any European Goldilocks who wants to break our chairs and eat our porridge do so - any, that is, except the object of the defense, who will be sent home hungry, only to find himself the next victim of his proported allies." Speculation as to the target of the defense was rampant, but Lord Stodgy evaded the issue, saying only that "Both the French and Russians reneged on their agreements with the Crown, but then the French President is truly a droll fellow, infinitely amusing, and it is equally difficult to take the Russians seriously, having left themselves open to the Austrian backstab like they have. For their part the Germans carefully avoided making any promises, but the arrogance of their Fuehrer alone is enough to make them a likely candidate." According to BBC reports, the Goldilocks resolution was adopted unanimously in the House of Uncommons, and was passed in the lower House with only a single dissenting vote, a peace-loving commoner by the name of Thurston who was subsequently dragged out on the street and shot. Vienna Daily News ----------------- The Austrian government today stated that it considered the Italian government a puppet state. "Ya, we pull their strings, alright" said an unnamed source inside the government, "They are so incompetent, we tell them what to do and where to go and, poof!, they do it! The invasion of Turkey is so much easier with all their units to control." The source had no information to report on the upcoming invasion of the German homeland. Austria/Hungary Today --------------------- "King Reacts to Hostage Crisis" Word of the kidnap of the Austrian belly-dancing students by Turkish extremists reached the King today. His first reaction was one of shock, dismay and outrage. He was overheard saying "what?" several times and is rumored to have called the Sultan "A dirty guy." The King's official announcement which came today had more harsh words for the Turkish today, calling the kidnapping "Not very nice." Pufferfish Daily- ----------------- (Sevastopol)- Sultan's Assasin Found! In a joint venture with the Turkish Secret Police, Russian agents tracked down the killer of the previous Sultan of Turkey. It had presumed that the killer was russian, but evidence was sketchy, and after interviewing many suspect, the killer was found. One Jorge Blanca, a spanish assasin, was arrested today in connection with the murder. Sources report that Jorge was under the pay of the Austrian government, and following orders from them. He was ordered to assinate the Sultan in order to cause chaos in Turkey in preparation for a combined Austrian/Italian invasion. (Moscow)- Czar Vows Assistance To Turkey "We cannot allow this flagrant abuse of human rights perpatrated by the Austrian government on the peaceful people of Turkey.", said Lord Czar Blowfish himself, in a press conference yesterday. "Setting up a country for invasion by murdering a kind and gentle leader is, at best, a mean and despicable act, and should not be condoned by any leader in the european sphere. We will help our Turkish neighbors defend themselves against the vileness from the west!" (Sevastopol)- Blackie, Elvis, Floor Lamp In A Bizarre Love Triangle! "The floor lamp was Elvis's, of course, but when he introduced us, well, what can I say, it was love", said Blackie, the infamous Black Sea monster in an exclusive interview. "Now, we are a happy threesome, just me, Elvis, and the lamp!", said Blackie. "I'm a hunka, hunka burnin' filament", said the lamp, "You can pulla my string, eata my shade, scatter my wires all over the place, do anything that you want to do, but honey, lay off of my cord.". Elvis was unavailable for comment. THE REICH STUFF --------------- Berlin - Defense Minister K. Claus Kringle announced disciplinary measures today against several soldiers accused of cheating their French counterparts at dice. The soldiers, who allegedly used loaded dice, were caught when an alert French officer realized that the Germans had rolled 281 consecutive sevens, and seized the dice for investigation. Several German officers were also cashiered as a result of the scandal. Reliable sources in the Defense Ministry report that their crime was failing to realize that over two hundred sevens was in any way unusual. One witness reported overhearing from a removed officer, "I thought it was just beginner's luck. Maybe now I can get my money back." Minister Kringle hotly denied reports that he was less incensed about the fact of the cheating than about the fact the culprits were clumsy enough to be caught. President Baron von Munchausen sent a personal apology to President Rougevin of France, along with several bottles of the popular new import "Stolichnaya." The President also invited President Rougevin to join him in judging the beer-tasting contest during Oktoberfest. At this report, President Rougevin's response is not known. ************************************************************************** If you are interested in joining the fun here in Electronic Protocol, send mail to Eric_S_Klien@cup.portal.com including your name, home address, home phone number, work phone number, and country preferences. ************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************* * [5;7mLord Zar,Commander Of All He Surveys[0;0m * (and hater of spaces near commas.) * * // Only /\ Internet: xcbe12a@ucrmath.ucr.edu * *\\ // /--\MIGA QuantumLink: Lord Zar * * \X/ USNail: 100 Aberdeen Drive Box #737 * * Riverside,CA 92507 * * /// * * /// Only /| __ _ * * \\\/// /_| |\/| | | _ /_\ makes it * * \/\/ / | | | | |__| / \ possible... * ******************************************************************************* * "The only good Assassin/Paladin/Telepath/Telekinetic is a dead one!" --Me * ******************************************************************************* Referenced By Up
