If Germany wishes to disband this unit, he may do so in the Winter. As it is, the retreat does not change his position. Russia has no debuild because the unit in Moscow was annihilated, so I need only build/disband orders from England and Germany to run Winter 1910. After that, the Spring 1911 turn will be delayed until next week due to my departure on Friday for Spring Break. *************** Press: London, July 11, 1910: King Edward VII was buried to-day after a service at Westminster Abbey. The new king, who will be known as George V after his coronation, expressed the confidence of the royal family in the government, and in its ability to pursue the war on the continent with minimal risk to British troops. "Our government will continue its policy of friendship toward all European powers who recognize legitimate English rights to security and peaceful commerce," said a palace spokesman. On the continent, English Expeditionary Force and naval forces continued their struggle to liberate France from German tyranny. First Sea Lord Winston Churchill said that a landing on the coast of France was not out of the question, although the precise landing site had not been chosen. "A site like, say, Galipoli, in Thrace, would be nice, and would guarantee the maximum scope for military action for our fine troops," said the Sea Lord. ----- Blitzkrieg -- Winter 1910 The first modern intercollegiate American football game was played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton, two schools which are located in New Jersey, which should also surprise nobody. Rutgers won that game, and Princeton won the rematch a week later, but both schools were barred from postseason bowl competition because of recruiting violations. -- Dave Barry, "Football Deflated" *************** England: Build A LON, A LVP Germany: Disband A GAL *************** Supply Centers: Total/(Units Owned)/Status Austria: BUD, VIE, TRI, GRE, SER, BUL, CON, 9 (9) VEN, RUM England: LON, LVP, EDI, NWY, STP, ROM, BRE, 14 (14) POR, SPA, NAP, HOL, TUN, MAR, BEL France: 0 (0) Germany: KIE, BER, MUN, SWE, DEN, WAR, PAR, 8 (8) MOS Italy: 0 (0) Russia: SEV 1 (1) Turkey: ANK, SMY 2 (2) *************** Unit Positions -- Winter 1910: Austria: F ADR, F AEG, A UKR, A VIE, A TYR, A BOH, A RUM, A BUL, A BUD England: A STP, A MAR, F NAP, F TYS, F ROM, F GOL, F ECH, F BEL, F HOL, F NTS, F NWS, F BAR, A LON, A LVP Germany: F DEN, F SWE, A MOS, A WAR, A MUN, A KIE, A LIV, A BUR Russia: A ARM Turkey: F SMY, A ANK *************** GM Notes: Have a good Spring Break, everyone! Constantinople, Turkey. Today Turkish citizens celebrated the recapture of the Ottoman capital from the Russians. Thousands filled the streets, singing, hugging, drinking, and dancing to their homeland. The south Russian army, that had been terrorizing Ankara for the past months finally moved into Constanople last Spring. However, with Austrian help the Turkish military completely destroyed the Russian unit, leaving its remnants to flee back home through Armenia. The Sultan of the Ottoman Empire looks forward to recapturing Ankara and uniting Turkey once more. In a public speech last night he reprimanded the Russians for what he called "unethical, unprovoked, uncalled for, unneccesary, immoral, amoral, unholy, ultra-evil, unworthy, dishonorable, unmerited, wicked, offensive, pernicious, baneful, obnoxious, and down-right-dirty actions against our humble empire." His well received speech was concluded on a high note declaring "the return of Turkey to world affairs as a promoter of peace and goodwill." -------- Retreats are due asap, germany must retreat/disband Tyrolia, russia must do the same to Norway and Sweden. Hold orders everywhere! - The Enquire (For enquiring minds) (St. Petersburg) News of the coup is still spreading from Russia to the rest of Europe. Apparently, sometime during the summer, the old Tsar was removed from his position for his curtailing of the vodka trade. Several years back, the old Tsar had stopped shipping vodka to neighboring countries in a misguided move to force temperance upon Europe. This led to the unfortunate visitation by Germany, Austria and Turkey to "find their own vodka" in Russian provinces. Now that the new Tsar, Vladimir Litvinov, has seized control of the palace and resumed vodka shipments to neighboring countries, it is hoped that the pursuit of liquor will stop by the foreign powers.
