PRESS: Geneva: The conflict heated up again with several big battles. The largest was a border war between Budapest and Galicia, which resulted in a stalemate. The Turks made an advance against the Italians by besieging and conquering the garrison in Bulgaria (with military aid from the Russians). The Italians had a naval victory over the Turks in the Aegean. French forces moved against the Russians in the north by preventing the amphibious assault on Denmark while pushing the marines out of Edinburgh. The Russians and French fought to a tie in the North Sea. Meanwhile, peace talks have begun. They are not expected to make significant progress towards an end to the conflict. ---------- Paris: (AP) "What do you mean they're in Burgundy?" screamed President Allcock at military top-brass. "We're comrades, myself and Rex d'Italia Michael II," he bellowed, "This is more of that coculd's propaganda. Yes, that's it - it's all a last-ditch desperate attempt by that scheming Tzar to wreck our strong alliance. Why, even now his fleets are pulling out of Britain..." The generals shuffled their feet nervously and one of them felt compelled to point out one or two things to the Premier. He paled visibly, crumpled back into his chair. Suddenly his glazed eyes rolled back showing the whites and a stream of drool oozed from a corner of his mouth. An attendant was duly summoned and wheeled the President away. "I was hoping that would happen," breathed the out-spoken general with a sigh of relief, "He'll be out of action for at least two weeks. If we work fast, perhaps we can formulate a co-ordinated strategy and send out a few ten- uous diplomatic feelers. I, for one, can sympathize with Tzar Ivan's nuptual misfortunes..." =============================================================================== BISMARCK -- SUMMER 1907 RETREATS: Russian A Edi retreats to Yor.
