King Jordan praised the move as a well needed surge of capitalism into France's sagging economy. London to St. Petersburg (The Times): ``Buckingham Palace formally recognized the ascension of the new Czar as the newest member to the Royal House of Europe. "We hope to continue fruitful relations with the Russian empire as they existed with your predecessor before he abdicated." It is privately believed that the former Czar was preparing to launch an assault on our glorious Isles. Hence, the extreme concern that the Palace is taking with the new ruler. A spokesman representing Parliament addressed the new ruler at a recent press conference: "We extend our warmest welcome to the new ruler and wish him success in repelling the Invader." There was no comment from the local chapter of the Fred Continuum.'' London (AP): ``Following upon the great successes of the Royal Army in the Low Countries, the Minister of War has ordered a general expansion. Citizens throughout the capital hailed the recruitment of a new band of volunteers eager to land on the shores of France. A rendezvous is scheduled with the first group whereupon joint maneuvers will be conducted.'' (Budapest) "Fred the Halfling announced today that he is not pleased with the newly installed Russian goverment and their repeated refusal to allow the migration of the overcrowded Hungarian farmers into the less densely populated Russian steppes. He has asked Fred the Giant Panda, Royal Surveyor, to have his surveyors take a close look at the Austrian-Russian border and see if they had been slowly sneaking it in our direction as had the Germans. Fred (the 1/2ling) also said that he had been pleased with the results of the new Austrian-German border." (Vienna) "Fred the Termite, the new goverment spokesman, held a press conferance today, to state the Austrian concern over the shortage of wool socks for their troops. He said that he had contacted the English trade representative in Vienna and that it was asked how much it would be to purchase the next five years supply of Scottish wool at twice market value. He denied reports that the gesture was meant as a bribe to the English to remain neutral with respect to the Austrian-Russian conflict" (Trieste) "Fred the Dolphin, head of the Austrian navy, was reportedly very pleased with the recent increase in the size of the navy. He believed that it would be a large step toward the Austrian control of the Western Med and continued control of the Italian pasta factories." ---------- of the game JUGGERNAUGHT (BNC number 1989IR) (GM is rdesper@eagle.wesleyan.edu/Rick Desper) nothing recieved Fall '01 of the game FIRE WHEN READY (BNC number 1990B) (GM is rlg@ai.mit.edu/Bob Givan) nothing recieved Fall '03 of the game DREADNOUGHT (BNC number 1990I) (GM is rbk@aiai.edinburgh.ac.uk/Richard Kirby) DREADNOUGHT FALL 1903 BNC:1990I =========== ========= ========= England ------- F Nor - Swe F NWS - Nor F NTS - Den <failed> F ECH S French F Pic - Bel A Fin S F Nor - Swe Germany ------- F BAL S A Mun - Ber <failed> F Hol - Kie <failed> F Den S F Hol - Kie <failed> A Mun - Ber <failed> A Bur S A Par A Par S A Bur <failed> Russia ------ F Kie - BAL <failed> A War - Pru A Ber - Mun Turkey ------ F BLA - Holds F ION - Tun <failed> A Ukr - War A Mos S A Ukr - War A Sev - Ukr A Rum - Gal Austria ------- F ADR S A Tyr - Ven A Boh S Russian A Ber - Mun A Tyr - Ven <failed> A Ven - Rom <failed> A Tri - Bud Italy ----- F Tun - ION F Nap S F Tun - ION A Pie - Tus A Apu - Rom <failed> France ------ F Pic - Bel F MAO - WME F Mar S Italian A Pie - Holds <failed> A Bre - Par <failed> A Gas S A Bre - Par ============================================================================== Retreats -------- Germany: A Mun Turkey: F ION ============================================================================== Dreadnought Winter 1903 Unit Positions (subject to two retreats) England (Scardamaglia) F Swe F Nor F NTS F ECH A Fin Germany (Hallen) F BAL F Den F Hol A Bur A Par Russia (Pease) F Kie A Pru A Mun Turkey (Cochran) F BLA A Ukr A War A Mos A Gal Austria (Mullins) F ADR A Ven A Tyr A Boh A Bud Italy (Klaus) F ION F Nap A Apu A Tus France (Belle) F Mar F WME F Bel A Bre A Gas ============================================================================== Supply Center Ownership '00 01 02 03 Supply Centers England 3 4 5 6 Lon, Lvp, Edi, Nor, Stp, PLUS Swe Germany 3 5 6 3 Den, Hol, PLUS Par, MINUS Mun, Kie, Swe, Bel Russia 4 5 3 3 Ber, PLUS Mun, Kie, MINUS Mos, War Turkey 3 5 6 8 Con, Ank, Smy, Bul, Rum, Sev, PLUS Mos, War Austria 3 4 5 6 Bud, Vie, Ser, Gre, Tri, PLUS Ven Italy 3 5 4 3 Rom, Nap, Tun, MINUS Ven France 3 5 5 5 Bre, Mar, Spa, Por, PLUS Bel, MINUS Par ============================================================================== Builds/Disbands England: One build. Please remember to send conditional retreats for EACH of your units which could possibly be forced to retreat. It just makes it faster for me to send out the results. If the scenario is too confusing, then I'll let you get away without submitting the retreats. But they have to be in by FRIDAY at NOON PST. I have a proposal for a France/Germany/Russia draw. Please vote on the draw along with your Spring 1904 moves (NVR=> vote against the draw). Remember, votes on draws should be unanimous amongst all surviving players. The mob attempted to enter the Royal Palace, at which point a state of emergency was declared, and the crowd was dispersed by local police. Press Secretary Fritz Hofmier issued a statement at 5pm, declaring a curfew in the capital city. The statement blamed the protests on Russian and Turkish in collaboration with dissidents within the empire, and called for those misled by these elements to return to traditional Austro/Hungarian values. Bohemia Voice ------------- "Massacre in Vienna" Thousands of peace activists were brutally beaten and attacked by police dogs in Vienna today, marking the end of the third day of a plea for sane Government by the good citizens of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Leaders of the protest vowed to continue to work for peace, ``even if it means overthrowing the current despot,'' according to Max Havelot, leader of the Havelot's Liberation Front and Taco Emporium. ************************************************************************** If you are interested in joining the fun here in Electronic Protocol, send mail to Eric_S_Klien@cup.portal.com including your name, home address, home phone number, work phone number, and country preferences. ************************************************************************** * // Only /\ Lord Zar,Commander Of All He Surveys * *\\ // /--\MIGA (and hater of spaces near commas.) * * \X/ Internet: lord_zar@ucrmath.ucr.edu QuantumLink & Portal: Lord_Zar * * "The only good long .signature is a dead one!" --Me (The new, shorter .sig!) * Up
