PlayByMail.Net From: Charles <GrimFinger@GrimFinger.net> Date: Thu, 05 Aug 2010 21:23:30 +0000 I recently decided to start a new website up, one whose focus is the play by mail genre of gaming. My name is Charles, and while I have intermittently browsed this forum for a long while, I've decided that maybe now is a good time to begin posting here. I hope that the few souls remaining here don't mind having some new company. The new website's address is: http://PlayByMail.Net It's not the most colorful of names for a website, but I hope that the domain name that I chose for this new site clarifies what its core focus is to be about. I began playing play by mail games back in the 80's, around 1986, if memory serves me correctly. The first play by mail game that I tried my hand at playing was Hyborian War, and it remains my favorite PBM game to this date. Like many others, there are things about the game that I wish that RSI would change or update, but all things considered, Hyborian War has been my primary focus as a PBM player from 1986 until now. I have tried a few other PBM games over the years, but not as many as you might think. Setting-wise, my favorite PBM game was probably Galaxy: Alpha, which was run by Intergalactic Games operating out of the Salt Lake City, Utah area.It wasn't my favorite PBM game, but the setting, itself, replete with its history and backstories, is something that continues to capture my imagination. Does anyone have any current contact information on the former moderator of Intergalactic games, B.J. Lockhart? I think that his first name was Bruce. I can't seem to get some of the oldest messages listed in this thread to load, though. Can anyone enlighten me as to why? Did Google absorb UseNet? I'm a little behind the times, on some things Internet- related. Any former PBM company game moderators or former PBM players, I would be interested in hearing from you. Drop by the site, if you get a chance, and maybe, together, we can breath a little life back into the hobby of Play-By-Mail. - Charles Mosteller - Up
