In many respects, it was not all that could be hoped for in a Dip game, but we managed to persevere through it all. I hope you enjoyed the game most of the time, (at least the time actually spent playing) and that the delays were not too bad. This was my first attempt at GM'ing an E-Mail game, and I rather underestimated the workload inherent in the position. While I did make frequent errors, I hope to have learned from my mistakes, and hope to do a better job the next time. I can say, though, that I enjoyed the experience, and I am looking forward to meeting some or all of you at a later time, either across the negotiating table or as your GM, or perhaps with you GM'ing for me. Turning over command, Rear Admiral Donald Daybell ---Ex-Commander, HMS Hood _______________________________________________________________________________ From the Grapevine Final Statements Final Statement from England: Bells today tolled across the English countryside from Ireland to St. Petersburg in celebration of peace and freedom. When asked for personal comment King John replied: "This has been a long and bloody war. Early negotiations appeared to have cemented fast relationships early on. After that it was a mere slugfest. What I missed most, however, was press. After a couple of years, the English press appeared to be the only ones releasing news for the concumption of freedom loving peoples everywhere." King John of England Final Comments, France, HMS Hood First of all, thanks to GM Donald for running this game. We suffered through some delays, but prevailed in the end. Thanks also to Richard Gordon, who filled in for me while I took a well-deserved three-week vacation in Japan. I guess I'll start at the beginning. As France, I feel that England is potentially France's worst enemy. Therefore, my diplomacy was geared towards convincing Germany that we should take out England. But when Germany flaked out in Fall 1901, I decided to switch plans and turned the "fake alliance" with England into a real one. I've never regretted the decision. Our first step was to neutralize Germany. However, England was beset up north by Russia, and it wasn't until the Fall of 1903 that Germany was beaten and the Fall of 1907(!) that Russia was beaten back in Scandinavia. Once Germany was beaten, it was time to move south. However, by this time Austria was destroyed, and Turkey was moving west. We clashed around Italy and neither was able to break the Tyr-Ion stalemate line until the draw was called. To summarize, thanks to all for a good game. President Jeff of France Final Statement, Italy As different troops stand in Italy, the people are feeling a bit unsecure. There have been street violence in numerous cities, taking several individuals lives. This violence is mostly directed against the current rulers. People find themselves run over by other countries and would like to see a new regime run the country from now on. The only thing they can enjoy now, is the PEACE. /Peter _______________________________________________________________________________ Rear Admiral Donald Daybell ---Commander, HMS Hood _______________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in joining the fun here on Electronic Protocol, send mail to Eric_S_Klien@cup.portal.com including your name, address, phone, e-mail address, and COUNTRY PREFERENCE LIST.
