He described the status of the current regime as "Shaky." He went on to explain that "Just when the Government seemed about to fall to the leftist Max Havelot and the Austrian Peoples' Liberation front and Taco Emporium, the right wing fought to the forefront." "Amongst the Rightists, the leader of the Hozer Hollerin' party, Fritz Fitzenstartz, seems to command the most respect. His party's platform has two main tenets: First that the Governments' weakness was principally responsible for the failures of the Eastern campaign, and that the weakness in the Government was caused by abdomen packs." Fitzenstartz' attitude toward abdomen packs, also known as belly-pouches, is well documented. He has accused the makers of abdomen packs of causing a breakdown in the moral fiber and fashion sense of the people of the Austrian nation. Carthage: --------- Roma delenda est! Germany -> World ---------------- I'll be out of town (in San Diego, playing a bridge tournament. Hope I remember that full disclosure is required ;-) ) all weekend. I'll be back Monday morning though. By the way, who proposed that draw? Nobody seems to know. Baron Friedrich von Munchausen President Weimar Republic Moscow: ------- Czar Distressed Over Recent Developments Speaking through a spokesman, Lord Czar Blowfish announced distress over the continued crumble of the once great Russian Empire. The Czar noted the lack of overseas assistance, especially from the Italian governments, which now appear to be deeply engrained in survival battles of its own. The Czar did promise, however, to continue fighting against the oncoming hoardes from the west. The Czar was quoted as saying "We shall still not rest until all Austrian and now, German terrorists are removed from Russian soil!". Rumours had it that even Blackie, the now infamous Black Sea Monster, was packing up things and heading for warmer climates. Until the Bitter End!!! Mountaineers' Journal --------------------- Residents of the Austrian province of Tyrolia today petitioned the King today to ban the promotion of tourist trade in the region, specifically to pull the "I love Tyrolia" and "You've got a friend in Tyrolia" advertisements from German and Italian publications. One man, who identified himself only as "Bill," put it like this: "Sure, we got great mountains and fabulous skiing. And we're real pleased at all this business we been getting, but at some point you just gotta say, enough's enough. I mean, what with all this marchin' about, they're just liable to flatten out our mountains. Why, I'm pretty sure the one behind my house has been flattened out a couple of feet in the last year. Yup. Pretty sure of it. Hell. The place is startin' to get like Oregon already." Trieste Tattler --------------- Rumors are spreading throughout the city that Fritz Fitzenstartz has been contacted representatives of the current administration in some sort of a power-sharing deal. Speculation as to what sort of agreement, if any, would be reached were even more varied, though centering around a cabinet position, or even the Chancellory. Also amongst the rumors are growing fears that Max Havelot may have been captured. Whether this is indeed so, let alone who has him is also a subject of considerable speculation, though many believe that Turkish spies are the actual perpetrators of the kidnapping. Theories about the motivations of the Turks in doing this, if they did, are also plentiful. ************************************************************************** If you are interested in joining the fun here in Electronic Protocol, send mail to Eric_S_Klien@cup.portal.com including your name, home address, home phone number, work phone number, and country preferences. ************************************************************************** Up
