Meanwhile Admiral Smith continues to shell Lisbon, Portugal, because it has been determined that it was renegade Portugese rebels who had caused the economic decline in the first place. London (AP): ``"What do you mean you lost an entire army?!?" exclaimed the Minister of War following word that the new group of volunteers had mysteriously vanished from the capital city limits. Success in the war against France has encouraged increased support of the war effort as victory is imminent. The capture of the French capital last year served the double purpose of further increasing public morale as well as providing a larger supply base to enable another infantry division to participate in the fighting. The newly trained group of regulars was scheduled to parade through the city center this afternoon as they prepare for transport to the Continent in the spring. However, no word has been received since their scheduled departure from Coventry.'' Yes, Blackie, the infamous Black Sea Monster is leaving! In an exclusive interview with the B.S. Tribune, Blackie said "It is getting to violent down here- I think I'll go see whats happening up north- maybe these new 'Volvo' things are edible". Blackie also said "I will not be changing my name, it will still be 'Blackie'. Honestly, though, don't you think that 'Bothenie' or 'Baltie' sounds kinda dumb?" THE OTTOMAN HERALD ------------------ Looking mighty fierce, Sultan Ingmuad the Inept angrily denouced the German invasion of the Russian empire. In his scathing comments, the Sultan stated: "At the outset of this decade, I requested of the Baron joint maneuvers in the Balkan arena. He declined because he felt that his continuing advancement depended on a Western outlook and Western technology. I say to him 'Continue to look Westward. Leave us alone.' The Czar does not deserve the awful treatment being given to him. The Russian Empire provided us Easterners with the Enlightment deprived to us by the Western countries. The forces of darkness in the Balkan arena are the Austrians as they have continuously sought to undermine the peace and stability of the region. One only has to look at the pitiful sight of Austria's favorite ally, Italy, to see the problems inherent in allying with the fools in Vienna. I decry this complete wrong being perpetuated by the German elite. I call for a complete restoration of the Czar to his rightful lands. Honour demands it while justice requires it." Military analysts suggested that the Sultan is upset with the change in the balance of power in the Balkan arena. Throughout his rule, he has depended upon the Russian armed forces for help and guidence. He views the new situation with grave uncertainty. Analysts judge that the Sultan fears that the Austrians will gain an advantage in force that his forces will not be able to compete with. ... in other news ... Yesterday, the Sultan accorded Head of State privileges to the acclaimed Austrian patriot, Max Havelot. According to Foriegn Ministry sources, the two agreed on a future vision of the Austrian Empire keeping Serbia while giving up Greece to the Sultan. Furthermore the Sultan agreed to help defray any costs that were incurred in supporting the revolution. There was also a joint agreement to start a joint terrorist campaign in Rumania in order to make life extremely uncomfortable for the Austrian government soldiers. Local zoologists were surprised at the recent movements of Blackie. The scientists had assumed that the Black Sea was the only place where Blackie could reside. Hopefully, the award winning team at the Pufferfish Daily will continue to provide local scientists with continuing updates. The palace put police forces on alert. Recent communications between the underground democracy organization and the Austrian King have been intercepted. Apparently, the Austrtians have provided 500,000 marks for a stepped up terror compaign. The Sultan apparently ordered a roundup to take place in order to squash dissent. He apparently stated that with the Russian collapse a unified Turkey under the Ineptide banner will be needed in order to secure peace. Continuing dissent by the People for a Turkish Way was detrimental to that unity. No comments have been heard from the People for a Turkish way. Speculation abounded that the leaders were taking a cruise on the Austrian boat in the Aegean Sea. It seems that all of the surviving ex-Austrian belly dancers have agreed to join the Sultan's fourth level group. All have stated their delight with the Sultan and said that there was no comparision between him and the Austrian King. Especially, since the Austrian King was rather short and plump, most unattractive for the ladies.
