Champions:PBEmail game opening From: pearlman@navajo.cis.ohio-state.edu (Andrew Pearlman) Date: Thu, 03 May 1990 15:49:00 +0000 Background: Up until January 12th 1990-As per normal January 12th- On this day and days proceeding afterwards, you were greeted by a man who looked at you with eerily intense eyes, who proceeded to look at you for a minute and voila, you had some sort of superpowers. Paranormals have been appearing all over the world, in ever increasing numbers. In addition, magical creatures and spells now work. Due to this increase, many people have become greatly concerned, and have sponsored(with help from the government and private industry) an independent U.S. superteam. In general, any given character should be: At least somewhat team-oriented, At least somewhat heroically motivated(mysteriously enough, 1 person died during the testing), and have some general interesting concept behind the character. Base 250pts, upto 75pts in disads per category, maximum of 225 pts of disads. If one gets Limits, subtract half the points saved from the maximum amount of disads. So if one got an OAF(Gun) which normally would have cost 100 pts, but now only costs 50, the character has a maximum of 200 disads. Endurance doesn't exist. No characteristics may be sold off. For 75 pts, one may get the ability to go Astral. One's body is stationary, you will not be aware of it, but your conciousness may go anywhere in the world. You may use any mental powers you wish(must have them, of course :-) and your conciousness is invisible to any but those with Mental Powers/Awareness/Detect Magic. Beware, if someone moves your body, you may lose it... Also, your 'conciousness' can be attacked by Mental Powers/Magic Powers that Affect Desolid. Note: Your conciousness may go anywhere in the world INSTANTLY. This power doesn't subtract from maximum disads. You may see, hear, and be mentally aware of any area. All characters have the disad: X2 Effect from Mental Powers. No points are gained from this. Yes, you can buy ego def to compensate for this. Background: The characters in this campaign are the most powerful group of heroes in the world. There a few groups of villains nearly as powerful or as, but still, the heroes usually triumph. There are also singular villains of amazing power, who this group would be called upon to defeat. The world is also very mystically oriented. This game is going to be semi-realistic. Skills are very useful. As a GM, I feel if one has to enter combat, one has, in at least some small way, messed up. Experience will be given out approximately the same as if real time were passing, i.e. 2 exp per week, even if nowhere near as much gets done. Limits on abilities/characteristics/etc: None, but abusive characters can expect to be hurt. The characters I would like to see, are the ones that look like 250 + experience, or the character that you can't build without having that many points. Such as Skillman(lived for the past 2000 years, and boy, does he have lots of skills, even if he isn't that tough). Characters should have at lots of little skills as well. Who knows, Euchre on a 18- MIGHT just be the thing needed to save the world. Characters should be in the realm of slightly silly/humorous. A little larger than life. Tech. Pay for it if you want it. Use Champs IV. Note on limits: Points saved because of getting No Concious Control are excused from the max disad rule. Characters should be interesting/bizarre. Concept should be the main thing. Especially Neat concepts. Public IDs are useful, secret IDs could be hard to keep... Oh yes, Send character sheets if interested. Sending a note will get you put on at least the waiting list, but I need a character sheet before accepting anyone. Andy Pearlman Up
