And his convoy failed (if he even tried it). Think about kicking him out of the Balkans soon while you still can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- England -> France: Boy, can't wait to see your Spring moves. My fleet movement is not meant to be hostile, but make no mistake, I am defending myself to the hilt until we make peace. Assuming your fleets are in Iri and Eng and that I'm still in Kiel, I'll propose that you move Iri to MAO and convoy your army back to Brest. If my fleet is in NAO, I'll move back to Nwg. I'll also move Kiel to Denmark. Fair enough? Also, Italy is going to have to disband another unit next year for losing Munich. If Turkey is a good guesser, Italy might also lose Tunis or Naples. Those Turkish fleets could be on your doorstep rather quickly. England -> Austria: Hi, again. Support the Turkish fleet from Ion to Alb. England -> Italy: Thanks. England -> Turkey: I should have mentioned this in the Autumn or Winter, move Ion - Alb and support from Greece. Move one of your other fleets to Ion. Then you can support a fleet to Adriatic and Venice is yours. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turkey -> Austria: Ok next turn I can support you to Venice. Hopefully this turn you moved to Tyrolia. Since he has armies heading south, hopefully your forces will distract him so I can convoy some of mine in. It's interesting that everyone wants us to attack each other - perhaps they are afraid of us? :) Turkey -> England: You're making concessions to France? So who are you going to attack then if not France? I'm sure if you send all your fleets against him you'll do better. Turkey -> France: Boy you've got it made, England looks as if he's not going to fight you off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Austria -> Turkey: I'm just waiting to see what you do with all those armies. Austria -> Italy: It has been a long time since I visited my people in Tyrolia. Austria -> England: Have a good battle. I'm here to lend a hand when you need it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Paris -> London: Ok, if I am in Kiel in the Spring, then I will be gone from your islands in the Fall. I hope I won't regret this, and I am really sorry that this whole mess started. Now if only I could get you to attack Austria, things would really be rosy. For future trust and protection, feel free to keep your two armies in Wales and London if you so desire. My fleets will head south (well at least the one in Irish Sea will, we can discuss E.Ch later) Paris -> Turkey: Well, I am sorry to say it looks like Italy has given up hope. In the event that you still have some foresight, attack Austria now, or you'll never be able to get anywhere. You guys are headed for a confrontation, so do it now and I will help you from my side. =============================================================================== VERSAILLES: Summer 1907 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no retreats PRESS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- England -> France: OK. Move Irish Sea to MAO and convoy your army to Brest and we're set. I'll move to Denmark and go back to minding my own business. England -> Austria: Glad to see that army in Tyrolia. Good luck in Venice. And thanks for being a friendly neighbor. Also, remember to order A Bud S A Tri in case Italy orders A Ven - Tri with support of F Alb. England -> Turkey: Good move to Adriatic. I know you'll probably support the Austrian into Venice, but moves of 2 fleets to Ion and A Gre - Alb with support of F Adr will cause the Italian fleet to retreat/disband (I think). England -> Italy: It's been fun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Italy -> Austria: Seems to me that he would have headed into the Tyrhennian if his real target was Italian home centers... There isn't even any convoy route to get any of his armies off your border. Italy -> France: It is too late now. You had a very strong ally here 3 turns ago, and one of your fleets would have enabled me to hold against Turkey/Austria but I am afraid that you went off and did some boneheaded attack on England and wasted the chance. You didn't even get any of the centers I was willing to give you (except Munich). I think you should work against Turkey, rather than Austria though. =============================================================================== VERSAILLES: Fall 1907 ---England----------------------------------Turkey----------------------------- A BER S (A Kie H) |A RUM S (A Gre - Ser) A KIE S (A Ber H) |A Gre - SER A YOR S (A Lvp H) |A SEV S (A Rum H) A LVP S (A Yor H) |A BUL S (A Gre - Ser) F LON H |F ADR - Tri CUTS F BAL S (A Kie H) |F AEG S (F Eme - Ion) F NTS S (F Lon H) |F EME - Ion BOUNCE (Alb) F Nwg - NWY |---Austria---------------------------- ---France-------------------------------|A Mos - STP A RUH S (A Hol - Kie) |A Ser S (A Tri H) FAIL (Disband) A BEL - Hol FAIL |A TRI S (A Tyl - Ven) CUT (Adr) A Mun - TYL |A Gal - UKR A HOL - Kie FAIL |A Tyl - VEN A WAL - Bel FAIL |A Bud - GAL F ECH C (Wal - Bel) |---Italy------------------------------ F Iri - MID |A APU H ----------------------------------------|A Ven - ROM |A NAP H |F TUN S (F Alb - Ion) |F ALB - Ion BOUNCE (Eme) --------------------------------------- Austrian A Ser is disbanded by default (retreats to home centers can be done by just rebuilding the unit). I am hoping that you mean what you say. I hope I'm in Kiel at this moment, if not, well... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- England -> France: Apologies, but I could not give you Kiel and still sleep easy at night. Hopefully, the fact that I moved my northern most fleet away from you is proof enough of my good intentions. As long as your fleet is not in NAO, we should be able to end our war. Yes, I still intend to give Kiel to you, but I want to make sure you're being honest before I do so. England -> Austria: Are WE having fun yet? England -> Italy: I've enjoyed reading your last few messages to France. Let's hope he listens. England -> Turkey: Go. Go. Go. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Austria -> England: Sorry, but I suddenly don't recall why St.P is your center... Seems like I have as much right to it as you do. And France is right, Turkey is going to attack me if I don't show him how he and I can control the east and move west as a solid alliance. Why don't you just worry about doing a number on France? Its not like I can build a fleet in St.P and come sailing. Austria -> France: Fight your own war, unless of course you think you need some help. Austria -> Turkey: I can only hope that we are thinking as one and not as enemies. If I am in Venice, I'll support you into the rest of Italy and then we can march on the west together. If you wanted to retreat one army (your choice) off our border, I think that would make me feel a lot better, at least until a unit or two are convoyed out to Italy. On the other hand, if you've attacked me this season, well thats life. I can't sit around and worry about how to defend myself all game... But my move to Ukraina should show that I intend to fight back if you did attack me. I hope Italy would join with me in that case. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turkey -> World: This game is getting boring no one is attacking each other and armies are stagnating. Hopefully this should spice things up a bit :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Italy -> Austria: Seems to me that he would have headed into the Tyrhennian if his real target was Italian home centers... There isn't even any convoy route to get any of his armies off your border. Italy -> France: It is too late now. I think you should work against Turkey, rather than Austria though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Italy -> Austria: Venice is yours. I am still trying to hold him off. Don't do anything stupid to let him into any of the centers I am giving you. I think you should be up to his size again by now. (Unless he stabbed you already - it is inevitable you know.) Good luck. =============================================================================== VERSAILLES: Autumn 1907 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no retreats PRESS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- France -> World: YES! YES! YES! There is justice in this world!!! Or at least downright selfishness...I knew something was about to break over there!!! France -> England: Well, I'd say we're dead even right now. I held up my end of the bargain, I tried to leave your islands, but you didn't live up to yours. I do appreciate your moving your fleet to Norway as that will make life a bit easier as far as ending our war and maybe even re-establish our alliance. It would seem to me that your enemies lie to the East. Move Kiel to Berlin in the Spring and maybe even convoy one of your armies over there, if you don't Austria will walk all over Eastern Europe. France -> Italy: Well, I really have to say that I've never seen anybody play so boneheaded as you have for the last couple of turns. It seems to me like you're playing "either I get an easy win or I'll just give up and not even try." Now get your act together!!! I moved from Munich on purpose knowing that it will either cut Austrin support into Venice or it will leave you with the center, either way benfitting you. But what do you do?! You *GIVE* Austria the center!!! Without a fight either!!! What the hell were your armies in Apulia and Naples doing?! Partying?! I didn't send over that many martinis!!! Look, I'll admit, me going after England wasn't the world's brightest idea. but I didn't think you'd just roll over and play dead. C'mmon, Austria has finally agreed to go back with you and finish off Turkey once and for all. I am sure something could be worked out to get him to get out of Venice. As far as me having a strong ally, well, I did until you started playing Monty Hall with your centers, geez... France -> Austria: Ok, you just offered Italy an alliance against Turkey. For his sake I hope he accepts and for my sake I'll agree to leave you alone if you agree to leave me alone, i.e. no moving to Piedmont in the Spring, I am sure you have better things to do with your armies. France -> Turkey: Thank you for reaffirming my belief in human nature..:-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turkey -> World: wow now things are really heating up! Turkey -> England: since France seems to be off your back, perhaps you'd like to get St.P back. I'm sure Austria will try to move St.P to Moscow so Norway -> St.P may be a good idea. Turkey -> France: Well you can help Italy out taking Venice back Turkey -> Austria: geez if I hadn't attacked you last turn, you would have been unstoppable...at least we have a chance now Turkey -> Italy: Sorry it took so long. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- England -> France: Thank you, thank you, thank you. In the Spring, PLEASE move out of the Channel. Yes, I will live up to my agreement to give you Kiel. If you agree to leave the Channel, I'll move my fleet in the North Sea to Denmark and we won't have to worry about each other. England -> Austria: Darn, and we had such a good thing going. Good luck against Turkey. I certainly hope you'll move your army back to Moscow. As long as France does not attack me and you do not try to grab Norway or Sweden, you can keep St. Pete. You'll need that extra unit more than I. England -> Turkey: I'm always amazed at how different people play the game of Diplomacy. Ready for the excitement? England -> Italy: Well, it looks like you're going to get some help from Austria and France (I hope), soon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Austria -> England: Ok, let me give you three reasons not to be upset with me. 1) You can take back St.P anytime you want. 2) You didn't need St.P last year (you gained Berlin) while I did with the obvious attack coming from Turkey and the uncertain gain of Venice. 3) Would you rather have a unit build in Edinburg or two units in Venice and Vienna? Let me keep StP and the armies to the south and east of France will help you in your war with France. I would have moved into NAO but you can get Holland with the right moves. Austria -> Turkey: The only armies which are stagnating are those tied up defending our border. I'm tired of it. Get the hell out of Serbia and I'll keep my word and help you against Italy. Stay, or build another damn army and you can kiss your future in this game good bye. Sure, neither of us will win; just another boring game from your point of view. Well, some of us play the game from a strategic angle. You know, we form an alliance and work together as a team to win the game? Well you are not getting out of your little corner of the world until after England and his ally of choice have their 18 centers. Unless you build a fleet in Smyrna, and leave Serbia for the sunshine of Greece. Austria -> Italy: Your fleets are outnumbered so I don't know how you can hold on to the Ionian Sea. Perhaps you should look for the chance to make a raid into Greece and Bulgaria. If you can cut support at the right time, we can bring Turkey down pretty easily. Austria -> France: I can't tell if your move into Tyrolia was smart, dumb, or just an accident. Get back into Munich if you know what is good for you. Your trust of England to give you Kiel last season is as dumb as it would have been for him to give it to you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Italy -> Austria: Convinced? Let's both get him now. We really cannot afford to fight each other. You had better play defensively this turn as once again, there is no way for Turkey to get any of my centers. He can take the Ion if he really tries, but it won't help him this year. Let's add a little spice to his life. I will not try to retake Venice from you this year, so you can attack east with all your force. Next year I may, if you have regained a center or two from him. Italy -> France: Thanks for Munich :) Good safety play with that convoyed army! =============================================================================== VERSAILLES: Winter 1907 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUILDS: Austria: 2 A Bud, Vie Italy: -1 (A Rom) Turkey: 1 A Smy FINAL POSITIONS: Austria: 7 A StP Tri Ukr Ven Gal Bud Vie England: 8 A Ber Kie Yor Lvp F Lon Bal Nts Nwy France: 7 A Ruh Bel Tyl Hol Wal F Ech Mid Italy: 4 A Apu Nap F Tun Alb Turkey: 8 A Rum Ser Sev Bul Smy F Adr Aeg Eme PRESS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- England -> France: I knew that ending this war would be a slow process. The easist next step is for you to order F MAO H and F Eng - Bre. I will order A Yor - Liv with support of Wal. This will force your army to retreat/disband and you can rebuild it as an army in Paris or fleet in Marseilles in the Fall. I'll also move Nth - Den, and we will have a fairly stable border. After I give Kiel to you this year, I will disband the fleet in London to finish off our truce. Is that fair enough? Is the intent to leave Munich vacant? ie. to leave it as an Italian center? England -> Austria: I understand your reason for taking St. Pete. I hope you'll be equally wise in moving back to Moscow. I just want to make sure you don't get greedy and take Norway, too. England -> Turkey: Hi. England -> Italy: The plan you outlined for your country in the Autumn press sounded good. Let's hope Austria sticks with it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Austria -> Turkey: You don't even try to offer some sort of apology? Fine, I guess you don't intend to play to win. Sorry it took me so long to realize that. And now we're back to this "I had to stop you" crap. It didn't fly when Italy said it and it doesn't fly now. Since when has Austria ever been an unstoppable force in Diplomacy? Get real. The only two strong alliance possibilities left on the board are England/France and England/Turkey. I don't intend to let either one form if I can help it. Austria -> Italy: Don't worry about Venice, I'll try to let you have it back next year. I can't go against Turkey alone, without fleets. Austria -> England: I hope your spring moves will end all the good talk I hear between you and France (see above). I intend to help you as best I can. Lets get 18 centers on our half of the board asap. Austria -> France: Hearing you call Italy's moves "boneheaded" sure is wierd. You haven't exactly played the best game I've ever seen. So, figured out yet how to hold both Holland and Marseilles, let alone gain Munich? Good luck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- France -> England: Well, I would remove my fleet from E.Ch., but does that mean that you don't mind having my army over? I assume you do..so, I will convoy it out in the Spring and depending on what you do, will decide what to do with my Fleet in E.Ch. If all goes according to plan, then the fleet is outa there in the Fall. BTW, a good move for you would be A Ber - Pru, A Kie - Ber, F Nth.S - Den, F Nwy - St.Pet, F Bal.S. - GoB, A Lvp - Wal, A Yor S A Lvp - Wal. See, I am even telling you to attack me in Wales if you are still having doubts about my intentions. France -> Austria: Look, I have no ill feeling against you. We were on fairly good relations at one time. All I ask is that you get out of Italy and stay away from me and Italy. I think your concern lies south. Like I said before, you stay away from me and I'll stay away from you. BTW, if you read my press to Italy, you will realize that the move to Tyrolia wasn't dumb or luck...guess that leaves only one choice, eh? France -> Italy: Sorry, if the previous press was a bit harsh, but it's really upsetting when you see one of your allies just roll over and play dead, especially when I am trying as best as I can to keep you alive. All I have to say is GET READY TO TAKE VENICE BACK IN THE FALL!!!! France -> Turkey: Well, isn't this interesting...:-) =============================================================================== That's all from this game. Cheers! Lord Valentine Referenced By Up
