There are still a few holdouts of course, the Shah in Northern Germany still looks strong, Lord By-Tor is holding Italy, and maybe Sauron and Lazarus can work together to survive in the South-East corner of the board, but things look bleak. Of course England is still as chaotic as it has always been. Will the rest of the world be able to stop the unholy alliance of Delian and Romanov, or will they conquer Europe? Only time will tell. Basle, Switzerland - Envoys from the six major European powers met the new Deep Thought in a moving ceremony that quickly degenerated into fistfights between the various envoys. It started with a name-calling bout between the envoys from By-Tor and the Delians, and when they came to blows the Sauronian delegate stepped in and knocked out the Delian. At this point, the Lazarian trapped the Sauronian in between him and the Delian, who was reeling against the wall, and proceeded to wrestle him to the floor before the Romanov, yelling "Fleets? I'll show you fleets!!", landed in the fray, the outcome of which is still, as of press time, undetermined. The Shahian delegate stood at one side of the room, a bemused look beneath his turban, then strode over to the slowly-recovering Delian and booted him in the head. Berlin - The Shah, heavily defended by his personal Honour Guard, took a trip to the border between Shahland and Silesia to thumb his noses at the army of Lord Sauron who have been thumbing theirs at The Shah's units for the past year and a half. "They may have Bulgaria, but we get to host the Olympics!" he bragged (as is his wont) across the border through a megaphone. Invitations to the 1904 Berlin Olympics have been sent to all world leaders, and responses have so far been received from everyone except the Delian League and, obviously Lord Sauron. The Shah continued, "See if We invite *you* to any more of our tea parties!" before retiring into his tent and comforting his harem. Liverpool - Rumours of Japanese infiltration of the Riverpoor Grobe have been hotly denied by its editor, Rarry McReod. In a "press rerease", McReod stated: "We who are emproyed for the Grobe are fur- brooded By-Torian patriots, and we have rittre to hide. Arr rumours to the contrary are farse, and we are sadry dismayed at the presence of any infirtrators that may be pleasant. Oops, sorry, present. Rong Rive Rord By-Tor!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The deadline for builds and disbands is Wednesday, August 1st. Moves for 1904 spring are due in by Sunday, August 5th. This year has been fun. Please remember what coast your fleets are on. Also, remember to send in conditional retreats with your orders. Please note my addresses in the signature file. Lord Andre' of Branswatch ERIS Spring 1901 results Change of government! The people of Yxtptcltok have renounced the colonial influence and restored the ancient name of their nation, Kinabalu. Fall orders are due Saturday, August 4th. That will be the last turn that Terry is with us. The turn after that will be another disorganized one while John Murphy moves. John, let me know what you can manage. If we can get the retreats and builds done very promptly, we can probably get spring 1902 done before August is over! :-( - Orders - Fnebish Legion ROM A Por - Spa A Ber - Mun A Mos - Sev A Nap - Rom FAIL 1:1 A Ser - Bud FAIL 1:1 A Edi - Yor Gormenghast V.S.T. This daemon has now been properly rebound, but unfortunately communication were lost over this period, and an interruption in Diplomatic communication occurred. We hope to establish proper communications in the coming seasons and years. Side note to Fnebish: Nasty! I know who not to trust this game! -Mixmaster (Gormenghast Castle - Venice) Lord Sepulchre announced the birth of his son Titus today. The birth of a new Groan should result in a spectacular year for ceremonies. Swelter, chief cook of the castle, is said to be preparing a great feast, according to the custom for a new heir. (c) April 14, 1901 -- The Daily Fneb News Service "I can't explain it; I only know that marching into the city of Marseilles with the gentle autumn breeze at my back is something that I was just meant to do," expalined commander Marty Siles of the Portugeuse chapter of the Fnebish Legion as he prepared to leave his comfy summer home in Madrid for the scenic shores of southern France. "We have been invited back to stay next Winter at the palace in Madrid, and I'd like to thank the King for his generous offer." While in Madrid, Siles' forces were reprovisioned for the march across the Pyrinees into Southern France. The Legion was also quite successful in stirring up new recruits, it is reported. The commander's consort, Elizabeth "Liz" Bone, was seen in Madrid waving goodbye to Siles. "My job is to get all of these eager young recruits we've picked up along the way back to Portugal so that we can officially open a new chapter! This is so exciting," said Ms. Bone. At Fnebish headquarters in Switzerland, President Fneb reported success in his meeting with Admiral Henry "Hank" Arrah, "We've come to an agreement about what he's to do in the Balkans. I've promised him eventual retirement at the port city of Sevastopol provided he looks out for our interests down there." Arrah seemed satisfied with these arrangements, but he reported new problems in the South. "It seems that we've been unable to communicate with Yxtp and Moulinex over the past few months. It could be the harsh Winter we had simply closed the standard routes for messengers. I certainly hope we hear from some of these people soon so that we can talk about possibilities of working with them," said Arrah. "Until then, it will be as if we are all stumbling around in the dark. Surely we'll bump into each other sooner or later. Perhaps the message will get through before the autumn comes around."
