Little interesting happened at the front, most of the army going on their summer holidays. The frontier regiments (who's holiday just so happens to be in Holland this year) fought valiantly, bravely and rather foolishly as they let the RNHB get right in the think of the fighting without any support of any kind. Thus the RNHB suffered their most humiliating defeat, um, ever. (They ran away). The frontier regiment itself did very well, pushing a worn-out dutch army back a little. Individual acts of bravery came from Camille Baudelaire who was wounded but mentioned in dispatches (+2) and found 450 cr. Jean Teefied, however, found that life without a horse can be troublesome, when he fled in terror from a mass charge of dutch cavalry. Unfiortunately for huim, his excuses (I left my weapons at home and was just running back to get them) cut no ice with his temporary superiors who expect better excuses from their men. (Teefied gets -10 poltroon award) In Paris, February 1673. After most people had bidden their friends goodbye, kissed their dogs, and petted their mistresses farewell, life got back to normal. The place seemed a little deserted for a while but everyone soon got used to it. Week 1. This was the week that most true military gentlemen found company in their regiments, Louis d'Armand was practising, in readyness for his duel, as was Chris d'Canta who was seen earlier leaving Angelique's apartment earlier in the week. Pepin du Monde, Perrier de Ponteniac, Zakary Napoleon-Brie and Preshion de la Masses practised for the fun of it. Claude d'Poulet (a newcomer) immediately found a guide to Paris in the lovely form of Jane. he also borrowed 400cr to while away the time between the Arc d'Triomphe and Notre Dame. Pierre Charles Villeneuse courted Jeanette sucessfully and Pierre B'Stard found a soft shoulder to cry on after leaving Chantelle for Emmanuelle. Partying were Emile d'Armage, who, after thrashing Adjuste in their duel, was telling everyone how he expected to die in it. Only Tim l'Enchantre seemed any bit interested, no-one else of note showing up. The Frog and Peach saw Louis de Fleurvilles settle himself in for a long stay with Henri du Bonnet and Lucien Bonnard, Lucien complaining bitterly that he can't see why he can't have a week off from cleaning out the stables like everyone else. Daniel de Lyon was called in to his commanding officer's presence and later walked out with a captaincy! The old captain was nowhere to be seen. Hilton Blade joined the ALC and bought himself a major's rank. Week 2. Pierre B'stard started the week jaunting along to the KM recruiting centre, there he was told that he was too good for them, what with his mighty intellect and experience, and should stick to his current regiment. Preshion de le Masses bought himself a majority after the slot was vacated by a nasty inquiry concerning the last major. He then tried showing off to Emma who thought he was more in love with himself than her, and turned him down. Pierre Charles Villeneuse bought a horse and joined the CPC, whilst Claude d'Poulet was turned away by the RFG (maybe if he'd have bought a horse...) Lucien Bonnard turned up for regimental duty and immediately volunteered for the hardest, sweatiest job going. (ie trained STR) and Zakary Napoleon-Brie was again at his regiment practising and being very very enthusiastic about it all (anyone'd think he was after promotion!). Daniel De Lyon also practised with his new uniform. Emile d'Armage tried courting Tracie as did Tim l'Enchantre (duel cause) likewise Louis d'Armaund tried courting Angelique but she also simply ignored him. Adjuste d'Anneaux tried with Sophie but she too turned him down (4 failures, what is the world coming to??) Parisian manhood was saved by Chris d'Canta, who, dressed in brand new (un-slashed) clothes, whisked Deborah off her feet and carried her away into the sunset on his horse. Meanwhile, drinking, carousing, toadying and doing suchlike were Henri du Bonnet at the F&P, Pepin du Monde at RP, Perrier de Ponteniac at RP with Therese and a few rough-looking men, Hilton Blade at BG, Louis de Fleurvilles still at F&p and Etienne Rouge-Barbe at RP. Week 3. Another standard sort of week, Pierre B'stard was at the Blue Gables, finding someone to toady with (unsucessfully), Pierre Charles Villeneuse at the F&P with Henri du Bonnet and Louis de Fleurvilles (never!). Red Phillips saw Perrier de Ponteniac and Therese and Tim l'Enchantre. Dan de Lyon spent his time at Bothwells with Jane and Claude d'Poulet. Practising were Preshion dela Masses, Emile d'Armage, Pepin Du Monde who took Annabella with him, and Etienne Rouge-Barbe. Chris d'Canta turned up late for his practise session after taking Deborah to the morning races. Louis d'Armaund crawled out of his sleeping blanket on Angelique's doorstep just for her to ignore him again. Lucien Bonnard lived up to his name as Genevieve decided she liked his charms, whilst Zakary Napoleon-Brie tried courting Christine when Louis popped out to the toilets. Hilton Blade sucessfully courted Clarissa and Adjuste d'Anneaux courted Yvette. Week 4. Continuing the tradition of practise this month were Preshion de la Masses, Daniel de Lyon, Tim l'Enchantre, Chris d'Canta and Etienne Rouge-Barbe. Everyone else partied except for Louis d'Armaund who courted Angelique, who again declined his fawning offers. The Frog and Peach saw Pierre Charles Villeneuse, Henri du Bonnet with his guest Pepin du Monde with Annabella, and Adjuste d'Anneaux. At Red Phillips were Emile d'Armage, Lucien Bonnard with his newly found love Genevieve, Zakary Napoleon-Brie and Perrier de Ponteniac. Zakary gambled 100cr away and won 60. A party at Hunters attracted few people, Claude d'Poulet and Louis de Flaurvilles (who, as everyone knows, is always ready for a change of scenery). Pierre B'Stard spent a quiet week in Blue Gables. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Duels: Adjuste d'Anneaux v Emile d'Armage This was a very quick duel, quicker some would say than Pierre B'Stard's famous one against Pierre-Henri Charon. Adjuste was completely outclassed, after gazing in awe at Emile's rapier work, he was cut to pieces from two well-aimed lunges, only managing a feeble lunge just before surrendering. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Duels: Zakary Napoleon-Brie v Pierre B'stard : next month or Pierre wins. Louis d'Armaund v Chris d'Canta : Chris wins Emile d'Armarge v Adjuste d'Anneaux : Emile wins Louis de Fleurvilles v Zakary Napoleon-Brie : Louis challenges. Tim l'Enchantre v Emile d'Armage : Tim challanges -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: The post of Commisioner of Public Safety was filled by an NPC. People whom I havn't heard from have 'gone on their holidays'. ie, disappeared from Paris with their mistresses. They may return at any time, by sending me a set of orders. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Deadline: Friday, 24th August 1990. Up
