New PBeM game: Glorious Age of Medieval England! From: JJL101@psuvm.psu.edu (J.J. Lehett) Date: Wed, 05 Sep 1990 19:54:43 +0000 New PBeM game combining political leadership, diplomacy, and popularity with economics, military strategy, and creativity in a role- playing type atmosphere. First of all,its free. Play just for fun. The game, Glorious Age of Medieval England (GAME), is set in medieval England where most of the people are poor and dependent. Your character will be a lord who ownes a large portion of the land and resources. As a lord you will develop political, economic, and military strategies to deal with the problems of medieval life. Political situations will demand your attention as each lord looks to solidify his position. Economic development of grain, markets and their goods, and tax rate levels will determine the prosperity in your lands. Military strategies will be needed when diplomacy fails or when desire drives someone to war. Throughout the game the players will have the opportunity to be very creative. Players describe their own character; giving him or her abilities and personal possessions. Players also describe their lands as they desire. This will give the lord's manor and other lands a greater vitality than simply so many acres of land. Lords are free to create as they please. They can go on quests, or host a jousting tournament, or anything else the player desires. As a lord becomes more popular, mostly through creative ideas which he relates to the other lords, he gains glory. Glory is given out by me to lords who are deserving. Glory affects many aspects of the game from battles to economics to politics. For instance, the more popular lord, who has high glory, will keep his soldiers morale high. Because of his popularity he will be able to raise taxes without suffering as many detrimental effects. In politics, other lords will value his opinion and participation because of his popularity. In general, the lord who has high glory will be played by someone who is really into the game. If this interests you then describe your character and send it to me as soon as possible. This description can be any length, but creativity is desired. The only statistics the lord should have are strength, agility, constitution, and mentality. Divide 30 points between these four areas keeping all values between four and ten. Players will be chosen by their desire to play as shown by their character description and also by the speed and reliability of their email. Tentatively, the game will be over at the end of April. If the players desire to continue then that will be considered. Ray Smith Please send character descriptions to: rsmith@umaecs Referenced By Up
