I have no idea about the identity of you or any other player in this game. I will have to wait to the end to find out. England -> France I am glad you want peace with me. I cannot move the fleet in the English Channel yet (it is convoying an army as you see). I will move away this fall (probably to London - not to Brest!). England -> Russia I have no quarrel with you. Lets keep out of each others hair. England -> Italy I have no quarrel with you either. Lets keep it that way. Ger -> Fra: Now that Italy is going to be occupied fighting Turkey, you should reconsider helping me against England. Russia and I will have almost all of his units tied up for the next couple of years, giving you the only opportunity you will have for the rest of the game to mount a quick and successful offensive. You think England's fleet will really help you against Italy? Don't forget what happened to me when I gave England too much trust! He wants to weaken me enough so that he has nothing to stop him from using all of those armies to invade you from the land and sea! Ger -> Tur: Give Russia the benefit of the doubt. Surely you see that it is in your interest for us to kill England now! Ger -> Ita: Naturally, you should have no worries that I am going to come after you. Please give France a break to go after England or England will be knocking on your door as he promised in his press. Ger -> Rus: I will try to help you win back St. Pete if you can extricate yourself from the war with Turkey. I could really use you in the North to pressure England. You saw in his press how eager he is to keep coming after you! Let Turkey stay busy with Italy...help me! Move A WAR up to Livonia or back to Moscow please! You have nothing to fear from me as my moves should indicate. France -> World: What?? F MAO -> WMed?? France -> England: Thanks for building only one fleet. I hope that you don't mind if I urge Russia to help Germany against you. I feel safer if you are busy in the north. I am not going to help you against Germany now, since I must concentrate my forces against Italy. PS Don't stab me! Don't stab me! :-) France -> Germany: As I said last winter, I am neutral regarding this Anglo-German conflict. If and when England is in the position to support me into Munich I may change my mind... France -> Italy: It seems that there are no possibilities of peace between us. France -> Russia: Leave Turkey alone and help Germany to fight England. France -> Turkey: Welcome to the anti-Italian alliance! Turkey -> Italy: Defensive Moves? Give me a break. I am not THAT dumb. I know that you and Russia can cause me quite a bit of grief, but France can eat you alive if you move to far east, and hear me now and believe me later, You may think you are a manly man for attacking me like this, but your are not. No. Only Girly men break their promise to help out and then attack and call it Defensive Maneouvers! Listen to me now, girly man, I am here to pump (*clap!*) you into oblivion... Turkey -> France: O.K.- lets us coordinate here. If I get into Ion, I can attempt an assist for you into Tun, if you do that yourself, maybe I can get into Nap. Let us see. I know we can help one another, considering our goal is now the same! My opinion on E/G situation- let them fight it out- you are in a 'safe' position from that right now. Well, so am I, actually... Turkey -> Russia: You still can live if you attack Italy! I won't attack you further- and at least I am a man of my word, unlike Italy, who proved in open press that he cannot be trusted. Turkey -> England, Germany: Are we going to help one another in Russia? I hope so! Italy -> Germany & Russia There is no argument between us. It is now time to unite against our common foes. I'll do what I can for you ... but I'm kinda busy. Italy -> France Listen to Germany! He knows of what he speaks! Germany no longer has to to guard his rear, and he can donate all his units to defending himself against England. That makes France a much easier target for England. Russia - Germany: I seriously doubt I will ever be in a position to help you, but who knows? Russia - Turkey: Too bad you have so many armies. Kind of limits your options on who to attack. And yes, it was a pathetic defense. Four of the five major powers attacking no one but me (sob sob), and the fifth wanting to attack. I had to chose who to defend against. =============================================================================== JACAL - Summer 1905 ------------------- Russia -> Turkey: Yes, I believe you, ha ha ha. Meanwhile you attack Sevastopol and ask for English and German cooperation in Russia. Man of your word huh? Italy->Turkey: Believe me now and hear me later. Hans and Frans are Austrians -- from a treasured province of the Italian empire. You hear me now and use some girly-man Turk as your spokeman -- or we pump YOU up. Italy->World: Sigh Turkey -> Russia: It is really to bad that we are in the situation we are in- neither of us can realy afford to fight one another at this point- you have troubles up north (in the E/G war) and I have pressure coming from the west. I really don't want to keep banging my head against Sevastopol, I would rather have that Armenian unit elsewhere (like Rome, perhaps ':-) ), but until we are, as it was put, extracted from this sticky situation, we are embroiled in usless war. I cannot move until you are out of the Bla, and you cannot really move until I am out of Rum. Unless you are coordinating moves with the Italians (and I know they are to busy in their defense to aid you right now, read the press- Italy is looking after number Uno first, last and always- leaving his 'allies' as I was before, out in the cold. Defensive maneouvers, I am still upset about THAT one! ':-) ). So, to put it simply, if you move Bla - Sev, Ukr S Bla - Sev, you WILL regain Sev, and will be able to defend it next turn, if need be. When that is done (you out of the Black Sea) I can and WILL move out of Armenia, leaving only the sticky situation in the Balkans to be resolved. If we work together there, we can both profit handsomely- and we can regain our rightful glory. Turkey -> Italy: C'mon on- Defensive Maneouvers? Why don't you admit that is was a shameless attempt to get Russia and I entangled in war (albeit a successful attempt!), so that you could run over the southern part of the map at will. Well, guess what, your plan is showing holes- Tunis holes, Ionian holes, well, you get the picture... Turkey -> Russia, Germany, and England: I, being in the position I am in, cannot offer any assistance to any of you three in any of your northern conflicts. Good luck to all three, though! Turkey -> France: Well, things seem to be going o.k. for now. Italy has lost one unit to date (meaning that if ends up with -1 on SC count, he does not have to disband another unit ':-( ), but his move to Lyo must have you a bit upset. You've got several options, the way I see it, you can retreat, and save Tunis, you can ignore Marseilles, and capture Venice, retreating WME to Spa, or you can retreat the Tun army to Spa (via WMe), moving Tyr - Tun, to get the build. In any sceanario, capturing Naples or Rome si out of the question, perhaps, since it is two units on two right now. I can't offer much more aid right now, due to my percarious situation with the Russians and with a strong Italian wall in the Balkans, but when I can, I will be right there to help. I don't know what we can do to help one another, besides simply attacking Italy. I will base my moves on any press I recieve for the summer! Ciao! (learning Italian in my spare time, just so I feel more 'at home' in Rome! ':-) ). Ger --> Eng: From your initial message, it seemed that you indicated you knew who I was and were referring to some sort of ironic situation that had occured in another game. I am glad to see that this was a mistaken impression on my part. I am surprised and disappointed that the rest of the players seem ready to place their trust in you after your stab, but that's their decision. I will still fight you as long as I am able. Ger --> Fra: Unfortunately, I understand your position all too well. If you have old turn results, I strongly suggest that you look them over, especially the way England and I were talking in the years before he stabbed me. Just when you are about to make the killing move against your enemy, England will attack to ensure you grow no stronger. He's going to take us out one at a time, and you are right now in a position to stop him if you agree, as Italy wishes you to despite his having a good position against you, to stop fighting Italy and start fighting England. In your press, you really seem to be tempting England to stab you now by wishing Russian hostilities on him and then promising to withdraw and hope he does the same. My only hope is that England will err and stab you too quickly so that the others will get a second slap in the face that may wake them up to the imminent endgame which will be a fight by all against a solo victory by England. Use your build for a fleet in Bre! Get that F WME back to the MAO and pull out of Italy now! Just think about your position for a minute. You have all of your units committed to a battle against a committed adversary, and your back is completely open. England is growing stronger by the turn and has nothing to do with all of his surplus units. Doesn't this sound familiar? PLEASE think about what England will choose when faced with a choice of stabbing you and getting the solo victory or sitting by while watching you struggle with Italy and then Turkey. Ger --> Tur: Let's assume for a moment that England will NOT stab France. What do you think is going to happen? Do you think France and England will want to make peace with you and end with a three way victory. Obviously, they want at least a two way victory or I'd still be fighting with them instead of against them. Do you think, instead, that England will attack France and then welcome you as his ally? Come on, think about it. Like it or not, ALL of us have to start making plans against England or face the consequences later. If you continue to help France attack Italy while tying down Russia's last units, you are surely as doomed as I am. Please try to look beyond the next two years in your strategy and take a look at what will happen! Ger --> Ita: Please continue trying to help me convince France and Turkey of the mistakes in their long term strategy! We seem to be the only ones on the board who are not being blinded by greed for supply centers. If we can wake just one of them up to England's strategy (haven't ANY of you played in a game where there was a solo victor before??), then there is strong hope. I will fight as long as I can, but my units are committed to England since I have so few. I cannot help you, much as I would like to. Ger --> Rus: I hope that you and Turkey can find some sort of resolution to your short-sighted conflict as you and I have. You should at least move the A WAR to MOS so that you can protect both of your fronts at once and have three units touching SEV. There is obviously no threat from your Western front. France -> England: What can I do with you? I can only hope that you don't stab me. France -> Germany: I am not thinking that England will help me against Italy. I am thinking that he will be busy with you for a year or two. France -> Russia: Leave Turkey alone and fight England with Germany! France -> Turkey: I hope that you will attack Naples next fall. I will either support your move or I will try to take Rome (in which case I will support you into Naples next spring). {Now Italy has something to guess about, I hope :-} If I support you into Naples, I hope that you will support me into Rome next spring. ANONYMOUS to ENGLAND -------------------- Watch yourself, the one thing you don't need is a protracted war against the Germans and Russians. ANONYMOUS to FRANCE ------------------- How far can you trust England? About as far as Brest, I would say. ANONYMOUS to GERMANY -------------------- This reporter does not envy your up and coming war with the English! ANONYMOUS to ITALY ------------------ Good play and a bit of luck got you many SC's in the past- you are going to need all those benefits now- but you should pull through. ANONYMOUS to RUSSIA ------------------- Let the Turks go. You two are gaining nothing while those around you are growing strong. Be assured, when they need those extra SC's in the future, it is you two they are going to be looking for! RUS: F Bla A Mos,Rum TUR: F Adr,Alb A Ser,Bul,Con,Sev PRESS ----- Italy -> France & Turkey Just let me get out of your way and you can beat on each other for a while. England -> France: I said I would move my fleet from the English Channel and I did. England will honour EngChan, Irish, and NAO as DMZs. If you need any help against the Italians - just ask. England -> Turkey: Keep it up! You and France should have Italy on the ropes soon! France -> England: Don't stab me! Don't stab me! France -> Turkey: I think that you could coperate with me using your fleet in Ion. Turkey -> Russia: O.K.- Fine then, I can afford to keep headbanging with you. Italy will eventually crumble and I can then eat you up. Keep it up, your losing just fine... Turkey -> France: Sorry- I did not move into Naples this turn, I wanted to take advantage of the weak Italian Fleet position and Grab the Adr. Next step is to split his forces, then finsih him off. Divide and conquor, eh? I should be able to keep holding off Russia for a while. Even if he does re-gain Sevastopol, He is still in no real position to cause me worry as of yet. I suggest that we finish off Italy as quickly as possible, that way we can move along to other pursuits. Turkey -> Germany: I cannot help you with England. The nearest English unit to my positions is at least three moves away, through either French or Russian lines. I am fighting the Russians right now, so I don't think that'll matter, and I am allied with the french, so I am not going that way. When I am nearing a position where I will make a difference, I will talk to you, until then, keep trying to get the russians to stop attacking. Ger --> World: With resignation, I gather from the press that all of you choose to be blind to England's tactics and ultimate goal of the single victory. My dying plea is that you ask yourself, based on what you've seen in the press and moves for the past two years, what YOU would do given England's incredibly sweet military and diplomatic situation. Then ask yourself what the others could possibly do to stop you (as England) from gaining the solo victory. In defeat, we shall all be equals. Ger --> France: You are truly amazing. Perhaps the only thing that may keep you alive once I am gone will be if England decides to deny me the pleasure of telling you, "I told you so." I don't think he is so mean, though, and he'll probably smiling as I tell it to you after he stabs you. Just watch for it, because unless you help me, "I told you so" will be the next thing you hear from me. Incredible. Ger --> Russia: You've got to trust someone to have any real chance at victory, and I think your only chance is to let Turkey go and hope that he won't kill you as we fight England together. Perhaps he'll realize before it is too late that we are all fighting the same battle now. Ger --> Italy: I'm sorry I couldn't convince the others to see that killing you will only be the prelude to an English victory. If I see a change in attitudes in the press, I'll be extremely happy to help turn things around. As it is, I'm down to my home centers, and they will be falling fast in the next two years. Ger --> England: Once the game is over, you must tell me all about this mind control device you've developed to control France. Despite my rotten feelings at the diplomacy of many players in this game, let me not forget to congratulate you on your victory. You've played in the spirit of the game, to be sure. Good job. Russia -> World New Russian Leader has arrived. Stand by while I decide who is trust worthy and who should be thrown to the dogs. My immediate worry (actually concern as I usually don't worry much) is securing Sevestapol and the provinces next to it. If my history serves me correctly, Rumania really belongs to me anyway and Turkey just borrowed it for a time. After I get Sevestapol secured (I will secure it even if I lose it momentarily), I will be looking at other centers that history shows belonging to me. ie: St. Petersburg, Sweden, vienna. However, let's not bite off more than I (or my small force) can chew. Just call me IVAN Russia -> Germany I have positioned myself to take bake St. Petersburg as soon as you deem it appropriate to assist me in that task. However, as I noted before, getting back St. Petersburg is no victory if I lose Sevestapol in the process so I am going to secure it first. Russia -> Italy I am willing to take the Turks off your hands at the small price of Vienna (which seems to have accidentally fallen into your hands). I could use a small amount of support in breaking the initial wall he has thrown up at me, but don't worry, I'll break it even if you don't wish to help. Russia -> Turkey As I see it, you are just being a pain in the butt with your army in Armenia, so you may as well have Sevestapol (for now) But keep in mind, I use the scorched earth policy, so you really aren't gaining anything and you won't own it long enough to rebuild it. =============================================================================== JACAL - Autumn 1905 ------------------- ITALY ----- A Ser -> Gre POSITIONS --------- AUS: OUT ENG: F StP/NC,Swe,Den,Hel,Nth A Edi,Bel,Hol FRA: F Spa/SC,Tyr A Ven,Tus,Tun GER: F Bal A Kie,Ruh,Mun ITA: F Mar,Nap A Rom,Vie,Tri,Bud,Gre RUS: F Bla A Mos,Rum TUR: F Adr,Alb A Ser,Bul,Con,Sev SUPPLY CENTERS: -------------- A: OUT [0] E: (+1) Edi,Lvp,Lon,Bel,Nwy,Hol,Den,StP,+Swe [9] F: (+1) Bre,Par,Spa,Por,+Ven,+Tun,-Mar [6] G: (-1) Kie,Ber,Mun,-Swe [3] I: (-1) Rom,Nap,Tri,Bud,Vie,+Mar,+Gre,-Ser,-Tun,-Ven [7] R: (0) Mos,War,+Rum,-Sev [3] T: (0) Con,Ank,Smy,Bul,+Ser,+Sev,-Rum,-Gre [6] SUPPLY CENTER HISTORY --------------------- '00 '01 '02 '03 '04 '05 AUS 3 4 1 0 0 0 ENG 3 5 5 5 8 9 FRA 3 5 5 5 5 6 GER 3 5 5 6 4 3 ITA 3 4 6 7 8 7 RUS 4 7 7 6 3 3 TUR 3 4 5 5 6 6 PRESS: ----- France -> England: PHEW!!!
