Departmental Empire Builder From: duncan@dduck.ctt.bellcore.com (Scott Duncan) Date: Fri, 10 Aug 1990 10:39:24 +0000 A person who has lost Net access has asked me to post this for him, so contact him plkease as I have nothing to do with the post other than passing it along to help him out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To all interested gamers: I will soon be starting up a new PRM game, "Departmental Empire Builder." In it, each player runs a department of his country, allocating resources, mak- ing deals, building things, and running "turf wars" (guard missions) to build the best department. Three departments make up a country. This individual and team victories are possible. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the game to the best departments in various areas. There have been two test games run already, so most of the bugs have been work- ed out. It is mostly computer-moderated to ensure fairness and consistency, The Game Master (GM) watches over the game, writes news reports, and runs a special "bad guy" country. There are some initial fees that must be paid before turn 1 will be processed. Afte thjat, there are no more fees. They are: Manual: $2 (copying cost) Administration: $0 (first live game) Prize: $3 (contribution to proze "pot" to be awarded at the end) All applicants muct notify me by 8/21/90. The first turn will be mailed out no later than 8/31/90. Turns will be due every 3 weeks, unless the players have a problem with that. The game length will be 9 turns, with turn 9 be- ing informational only. If you are interested, please contact me before the entry deadline. If need- ed, I can mail you a manual to help you decide. If practical, it is best to form your own team of 3 players before you apply, since you'll do most of your dealing with them. If this is not practical, you'll be assigned a department and country, though I will try to work in preferences. Scott Bowyer (407) 298-3378 6738 Stardust Ln.
