Diplomacy Zine -- Electronic Protocol Chapter 2 From: sinhaa@maccs.dcss.mcmaster.ca (Anand Sinha) Date: Wed, 26 Sep 1990 16:53:04 +0000 Chapter Two of ELECTRONIC PROTOCOL: This chapter contains results from REPUBLIC, KHAN and gunboat games JACAL, MANHATTAN, and DRESDEN. Issue # =============================================================================== Results from REPUBLIC =============================================================================== Greetings from your GM. This is a test message, but I would also like to address a few problems: First, I have not received your country preferences from Eric. If you don't want to play Germany, you should send me a request for whichever country(s) you do want to play. Second, I intend to run turns fairly fast. I would like to run a year every two weeks or so (or something like that). If you can't keep up, I'll try to find somebody who can. But please let me know now. It is much simpler replacing players before the game starts. To keep the turns running quickly, I will eliminate Summer and Autumn turns whenever possible. Conditional retreats won't be required, but will be appreciated. (I can then do the retreats with the moves.) If something entirely unexpected happens which I think might change your decision on the retreat, I might try to confirm it with you. But enough for now... Please reply with your country preference. I actually only need three more sets of orders. I'm not sure when I said they were due, but if everybody turns them in by Friday morning, I'll do them then. Otherwise, they wait until Monday. :-) REPUBLIC: Spring 1901 ---England----------------------------------Germany---------------------------- A Lvp - YOR |A Ber - KIE F Edi - NWG |A MUN - Bur FAIL F Lon - NWY |F Kie - HOL ---France-------------------------------|---Austria---------------------------- A MAR S (A Par - Bur) |A Bud - SER A Par - BUR |A Vie - TYL F Bre - PIC |F Tri - ALB ---Italy--------------------------------|---Turkey----------------------------- A VEN H |A Con - BUL A Rom - APU |A Smy - ANK F Nap - ION |F Ank - CON ---Russia-------------------------------|------------------------------------- A War - UKR | A Mos - SEV | F Sev - BLA | F StS - GOB | ----------------------------------------- POSITIONS Austria: 3 A Ser Tyl F Alb England: 3 A Yor F Nwg Nwy France: 3 A Mar Bur F Pic Germany: 3 A Kie Mun F Hol Italy: 3 A Ven Apu F Ion Russia: 4 A Ukr Sev F Bla GoB Turkey: 3 A Bul Ank F Con PRESS: FRANCE DECLARES WAR ON ENGLAND! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- La Liberte' : (AP) - In an astounding display of Gaul, French generals held a press conference in which they unveiled the broad aspects of such a bold plan. "With solid support from Germany and Russia, we felt there was no need to, how you say, 'dilly-dally' about the thing. Simply put - we will be selling chateau's in Wales within a few years. Checks can be made out to 'Le Real Est'ate, Paris.'" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Paris) The French foreign ministry declined to comment on the fact that the troops were told that what the Normans could do once, the French can, and will, do again. (Berlin) The German minister of external affairs also declined to comment on any potential invasion plans for England. (London) The British Prime Minister, when ask about the rumours of an invasion, said: "We will fight them on the beaches, we will fight them... oops, I can't say that until 43 years from now. Anyway, the British are not in the least worried, after all, those are just rumours." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GM NOTES: Here's the first move! Fall orders are due next Thursday. Please include a dateline and a headline with press articles. The units are ordered with armies first, fleets after. Aside from this, the oldest units are listed first. If anybody has trouble with the tabs, I can replace them with spaces. Yes, of course. F Lon - Nor is really F Lon - NTS not F Lon - NWY. :-) Correction is noted. Up
