Issue # =============================================================================== Results from DRESDEN =============================================================================== DRESDEN: Autumn 1905 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no retreats PRESS: HELGA THE KAISER ARRESTED -- GERMANY DECLARES PEACE ON ENGLAND AND RUSSIA CZAR ANSWERS SWISS INQUIRER ITALIANS OUT-GUESSED! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Munich Star December 1905 Germany's new head of state made two shocking announcements in his latest press conference. First, he said that the person known as Helga the Kaisetrix has been arrested and sent to an asylum for mentally disturbed in Berlin. "We hope that after we have gotten rid of this Helga our relations to other countries could be based on peace and harmony and mutually beneficial cooperation and all other good and beautiful things." Second, he declared peace on England and Russia. "Because Austrian forces are threatening our fatherland we have no choice but to defend ourselves against this hideous and unwarranted attack. If we could make peace with these countries we could redeploy some of our forces against Austria. Thus we will not attack the English army in Denmark or the English fleet on the North Sea if England will not attack our posessions, including Belgium and Holland." When asked whether he thinks these countries will consider peace seriously he answered "We think that England will accept this treaty but, to speak the truth, we have little hope of Russia stopping her aggression, although her defensive stance in Warsaw last fall gives us hope." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IRP (Imperial Russian Press) October 1905 Outraged by the Swiss Inquirer headline "Will Russia ever take a firm stance with England or Germany or Turkey..." the Czar gave the following statement in a press conference: "If the Swiss Inquirer would have paid attention to what has happened in Russia, it would have noticed that we have been fighting against Turkey without interruption since 1901. Our position to England and Germany is constantly changing as both countries keep moving troops against us and then retreating again. This is definitely not our fault. Until now we have refrained from carrying the war over our borders to either Germany or England. But there may come a time when one of them asks us for help against the other or our ally Lord Dan asks us to attack one of them and then you will see how firm we can be." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Naples News, Nov 17, 1905. The Empress released a short press statement from her office today acknowledging the failure in England. She stated whenever you are dealing with a multination force, coordination is difficult. Added to that is the pressure of also telling your opponent your plans. Since her advisors foresaw a number of defences against the original plan, she changed it at the last moment. Unfortunately, the English outguessed her in this respect. On the bright side, enough of the Italian fleet is now on hand to eliminate much of the guesswork. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GM NOTES: Here's the Autumn press. The Slosh Baum Co. was awarded a multi-million dollar contract to re-furbish a number of the navy's aging ships. Slosh Baum, which is owned by businessman Frank Paducci, is expected to complete this job over the winter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- London Times, Dec 21, 1905 King Edward VII gave his annual Christmas message to the nation today, wishing not only his loyal subjects a joyous holiday season, but also the leaders and citizens of both Germany and Russia. "At the beginning of this year, we were able to leave St. Petersburg, and establish a new period of peace between England and Russia. Now, with Germany's offer of a truce, which we agree to, fully accepting his terms, we have been able to begin another era of friendship with the Kaiser and his people." Asked about the tensions that may be building up between Germany and Russia, the King said "We wish those we are at peace with could themselves be at peace with each other. However, if that is not the case, we will stay completely neutral in their dispute, favoring neither power, nor attacking each, should they divert patroling forces away from our Scandinavian borders to the battlezone." The King also mentioned his disappointment at his Welsh subjects' not being able to receive this message of Christmas greeting due to the French blackout. "We are working toward reuniting the people of Wales with the rest of the Kingdom, as we have done with Liverpool last Spring. However, the French admiral and his fleet are a hardy and resourceful bunch, and have put up one bloody good fight, especially with the aid of the Italian Navy. We hope conditions will soon allow the Welsh people to once again enjoy freedom under the British flag." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- IRP (Imperial Russian Press) December 1905 Our experts said that after the Sultan had to reduce his troops by 33%, the holy war against Turkey will last only one or two more years. Because of this, the High Command didn't think it would be necessary to rebuild our navy at Sevastopol, as we would win without it and it would become useless after the war. Our troops continue to storm against Ankara, which we should be able to take in Spring with support from Lord Dan. Capture of Constantinople by Austrian troops with support from us will follow in Fall. The situation in the north is still unclear, as it is still unknown whether the Czar will receive a request for help by our Austrian ally. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Munich Star The Kaiser today refused to answer any questions saying that he was still waiting for answers to his declarations of peace. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hungarian Herald (Jan 26, 1906) Coming from the House of Dan today was an unusual request made by Lord Dan. He has requested that the leaders of Italy, Russia and England read some of the press that has come from Germany over the past few years. If your memories need joggling, he says he still has copies and can have them republished in the Hungarian Herald next month if requested. At one time or another, Germany has either declared war (outright) or marched troops in and taken supply centers from each of your nations. Since Germany backed troops away from the Russian border, I don't have any direct reason to attack Germany, but Austrian troops are going to remain in the immediate area and will act accordingly to any agressive moves made by Germany. Note to the Sultan: If I am greedy as you say I am, why did both my allies gain a center this season while I remained the same? Kinda puts a hole in that last theory of yours doesn't it? Ankara will also be Russian soil very soon! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DRESDEN: Spring 1906 ---England----------------------------------Germany---------------------------- A DEN H |A KIE S (A Sil - Mun) A LVP H |A RUH S (A Sil - Mun) A EDI - Nwy FAIL |A Sil - MUN F NWY - Nwg BOUNCE (NAt) |A BER S (A Sil - Mun) F NTS C (A Edi - Nwy) |F BEL H F LON S (F Nts H) |---Austria---------------------------- ---France-------------------------------|A BUL S (A Smy - Con) A MAR H |A Smy - CON A PAR - Bre FAIL |A TYL - Boh FAIL ---Italy--------------------------------|A Tri - VIE A SPA H |A BOH - Sil BOUNCE (War) A Ven - PIE |A Ser - TRI F BRE H |F Eme - AEG F MID S (F Ech H) |---Russia----------------------------- F ECH S GER (F Bel - Nts) NSO |A WAR - Sil BOUNCE (Boh) F NAT - Nwg BOUNCE (Nwy) |A Lvn - PRU F Nap - TYS |A Arm - ANK ---Turkey-------------------------------|A STP H A Ank - SMY |A MOS - War FAIL F Con - Smy FAIL (Ret. ???) |-------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- Turkish F Con may retreat to Bla or it may disband. PRESS: SULTAN MAKES LAST STAND BORDERS SECURED SULTAN UNDER PRESSURE SULTAN OFFERS SURRENDER TO RUSSIA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hungarian Herald (March 26, 1906) SULTAN MAKES LAST STAND The Sultan is making his last stand against the combined forces of the Czar of Russia and Lord Dan of Austria. Most feel that this is the last year that Turkey will exist as a country, others speculate that the Sultan can hold out till next year. When asked for comment, Lord Dan only said, "We will see. The Czar and I aren't out of tricks yet. Before I comment on exactly how long the Sultan can hold out, I want to see if our latest tactic holds up. If it did, then Russia will have Ankara and Austria will have Constantinopol, while one of Turkey's armies will have been destroyed and the other will be in Smyrna where we can easily push him out of in the fall. Our fleet will be standing off the coast of Smyrna to make sure things work out the way they are supposed to." On another note, a special envoy has been sent to every active country in Europe to offer a unique "Global Treaty" which is to include all seven active countries in Europe and also the United States. Lord Dan's only comment was that he is willing to leave things as they are, and hopes that those leaders of the other six countries are willing to do so also. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IRP (Imperial Russian Press) March 1905 Now that our beloved Motherland is again free from foreign invaders, our troops begin to secure our borders. The north will be protected by our army in St. Petersburg, which will stay there as long as there are any foreign troops near. The south will be secure at the end of this year, when our enemy Turkey is finally beaten. In the west armies moving into Silesia and Prussia will form a closed front together with Lord Dan, reaching from the Baltic to the Adriatic Sea, protecting us against further German aggression. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW Swiss Inquirer: These headlines top this seasons stories: Will Austria retake Venice? Can England stop the mafia-navy? Will Russia ever move somewhere? Whom will the Germans attack after asking for peace? Why does Italy build no armies? Is the Sultan giving up? Will France try to take Belgium? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Swiss Times, spring 1906 Professor Ruben von Schlock recently addressed the community and addressed the topic of the Sultan. He stated that in the present dilemma, the Sultan is likely to try anything to get out of his situation. "You Zee, He iz Lozing ground to the Auztrianz and Ruzzianz. But now, if hiz fleet iz able to get to the Black Zea thiz zpring, he can ztrike at any one of the five ztrategic pointz around the zea. With the prezent zituation, zome of theze areaz can not be protected. I can not predict where he may go. Clearly, he hatez Lord Dan, but the Czar haz alzo had harsh wordz for the Zultan. He may do zomething draztic, and I can not tell what he may think of. I have heard they have perfected the Comfy Chair, and are working a top zecret project." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SWISS STAR Spring Press Tension builds between the countries of Germany and Austria. Russia is waiting with baited breath for the inevitable to happen so he can jump in at the first opportunity. England is standing by "peacefully" hoping that that war breaks out between these countries so the king can "liberate" Holland and maybe even Belgium and Kiel. More importantly, it will occupy Russian troops which could easily storm him and take away Sweden and Norway in but a single year. Then there is France. Standing in the shadows, waiting. Knowing that Italy probably won't eliminate him just yet, could jump in and try for Belgium and possibly Munich (if lord dan doesn't beat him to it). Turkey, weeeellllll, there isn't much this war could do to help out Turkey at this point. Maybe several years ago... Now Italy is the only one who really doesn't benefit from this tension build up. Italy is ready to pounce on England like a cat, and could use what support Germany and Russia could offer. Austria, having half a dozen armies with nothing better to do but stroll around the country side could probably even benifit from this possible outbreak. It isn't too likely that the German's could really do them much damage. But Germany really has the most to lose here. If war broke out between Germany and Austria, Germany would probably get picked to pieces by all the "vulture empires". Even if Austria wins the war, they probably wouldn't get more than Munich (maybe) while the remainder would go to England, Russia and France. Now, lets see just what happens. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Constantinople Crier March 14, 1906 The Sultan announced today that the Empire was giving up fighting the Russians. "Since the Czar has officially come out and declared this to be a holy war, I see no other choice," he declared. "My only desire has been to protect Turkish soil. We cannot defeat religious fanatics. However, I have a proposal to the Czar. We will cease all activities against Russia and will allow the Czar to command our armies. Furthermore, the state religion of Turkey will be changed to whatever the Czar desires. I hope the Czar will recoginize the value in this proposition. As far as I and my advisors have been able to tell, Russia has gained nothing from its alliance with Lord Dan, while Austria has grown to be the most powerful nation in the world. Lord Dan speaks of his generousity that gave Russia a build in the Winter. I fact, Austria had nothing to do with events in the north. He has tricked the Czar into a long-term seige of Turkey in which the only thing promised is Ankara. I do not think Ankara will belong to the Russians for very long after Lord Dan's systematic genocide of the Turkish people is complete. Russia will be Lord Dan's next target. Please, Czar, I am very sincere in this offer and hope that you will also see the logic behind accepting it." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DRESDEN: Summer 1906 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turkish F Con retreats to Bla. CZAR REGRETS LACK OF COMMUNICATION WAR WITH RUSSIA OVER? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Naples News, July 19, 1906. As the Empress Ieda prepared to make her first public appearance in two years a shot from a high powered rifle struck the Empress in the chest near her heart. Pandemonium reigned as the crowd that had gathered paniced. Security quickly arrested Jacques Lubee, a known member of the PPP on the rooftop of a nearby building. He is being held in a high security cell awaiting trial. The condition of the Empress is being reported as "serious, but stable". Internal security director Cranston Snord stepped in and told the Italian people that he was in control of the situation. He spoke: "The Italian people have taken a toll from these French terrorists. Our Naval center in Brest has been shelled continuously for the past year and a half. It is clear that some elements of the French government are sympathetic with these radicals. We have sent orders out to our forces to be on an alert status with respect to the French, and we will begin replacing the French government with our own immediately. Enlistment rates have hit an all time high this year. We will not let these events go un-noticed. We all hope the Empress recovers quickly." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Imperial Russian Press (IRP) June 1906 The Czar made a lack of communication responsible for several failures in Spring. With better communications we could have avoided that unfortunate affair in Silesia and the Turkish fleet in the Black Sea, bound for Sevastopol. We only hope that the Sultans promise to surrender was real, and that he sinks his fleet in the Black Sea. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Smyrna Crier July 4, 1906 The Sultan was optimistic today that the war with the Russians was finally going to end. "They wanted Ankara and they got it, hopefully that will satisfy the Czar. He has given more than his fair share of support to Lord Dan, I don't see why he would help him further. We are still hopeful that our surrender will be accepted." The Sultan also took the opportunity to address the comments of one Professor Ruben von Schlock. "This Schlock fellow seems to think he knows alot about me, well I know a little about him. My intelligence sources have revealed to me that he is actually the head of a terrorist group know as the Peoplez Peaze Phront, a splinter group of the radical People's Peace Phront. I advise Swiss authorities to be extra careful in dealing with him." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DRESDEN: Fall 1906 ---England----------------------------------Germany---------------------------- A DEN H |A KIE S (A Mun H) A LVP H |A RUH S (A Mun H) A EDI - Nwy FAIL |A MUN H F NWY - Nwg BOUNCE (NAt) |A BER S (A Mun H) F NTS C (A Edi - Nwy) |F BEL H F LON S (F Nts H) |---Austria---------------------------- ---France-------------------------------|A BUL S (A Con H) A Mar H FAIL (Ret. ???) |A CON S (F Aeg - Smy) A PAR - Bre CUTS |A TYL - Mun FAIL (2:4) ---Italy--------------------------------|A Vie - BUD A SPA S (A Pie - Mar) |A BOH S (A Tyl - Mun) A Pie - MAR |A TRI - Tyl FAIL F BRE S (F Mid - Ech) CUT (Par) |F Aeg - SMY F MID - Ech FAIL |---Russia----------------------------- F ECH - Nts FAIL |A War - UKR F NAT - Nwg BOUNCE (Nwy) |A Pru - WAR F Tys - WME |A ANK S AUS (A Con H) ---Turkey-------------------------------|A STP H A Smy S RUS (A Ank - Con) FAIL (Ret ???)|A Mos - SEV F Bla - RUM |-------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- Turkish A Smy can retreat to Syr, Arm, or it may disband. In an exclusive, the Swiss Star has obtained the transcript: "1. The People's Peace Phront claims responsibility phor the assasination attempt on the Impressor Ieda. This plot had been years in the making and we judge it as a success. We hope this will signal the beginning oph the end oph the Italian brutality in Phrance. 2. The People's Peace Phront has never had any association with Prophessor Ruben von Schlock and knows oph no organization known as the Peoplez Peaze Phront. It seems that this is yet another case oph Turkish "intelligence" providing phalse inphormation to the Sultan. 3. The People's Peace Phront recognizes another tyrannt on the world scene named Lord Dan. His acts in Turkey have been well documented. The PPP declares a bounty oph 13,000,000 Swiss phrancs to anyone who can kill Lord Dan. By this means, the PPP hopes to liberate Turkey in a similar way that they have liberated Phrance." The Swiss Star in no way supports or condones the actions of the PPP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Swiss Mirror Fall 1906 After years of supporting a useless puppet, Italy finaly decided to seize control of the whole west by destroying the last French units. Marseilles will fall this year while Paris is expected to be taken next year. By this time the Italian fleet will have England completely surrounded. How long will Austria watch its neighbor grow? After the generous peace offer from Germany this two countries could well hold off the Italian threat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IRP (Imperial Russian Press) September 1906 After watching the Germans for some time, the Czar decided that the German offer of peace was not a fake. As a sign of goodwill he will immediately retreat all troops from German soil. But the new German Kaiser should be warned that the border will be well defended and any move into Prussia or Silesia will be considered an act of war. The troops will travel south to eliminate the last remains of the Sultan, his freelancing fleet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When asked what Germany's strategy will be in the future the Kaiser said "We will defend our borders." and refused to say anything else. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DRESDEN: Autumn 1906 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Turkish A Smy disbands. The Empress spoke briefly on the Italian Airwaves Station (IAS) from her bed in the hospital where she is recovering form the gun wound of this past summer. Here is that transcript: "People of Italy, fear not. It will take more than an assassin's bullet to stop me. I want to thank you all for the cards and flowers. I know that Italy stands behind me. As you may know, the French minister and I have not spoken in a while. I fear he may be a puppet of some stronger nationalist forces. While I regret the course of action taken, it is in our best interests. Because of the great demand, the third brigade is forming in Venice. This force will be sent to augment the troops stationed in France. To calm some of the speculation that I have heard from abroad, let me say that the success of Lord Dan and Italy have been closely tied together. Lord Dan and I have a great deal of respect for each other. He has assisted us in the past as have we him. As the sun sets on the sultan, I wish Lord Dan well as he steers a course for Austria. He knows all he need do is ask. Even though the situation with England is at the same place it was a year ago, I expect a breakthrough this year. We will defeat the English from Wales to Sweden." In other news, Jacques Lubee, the PPP radical that attempted to kill Empress Ieda on November 20'th was killed while being taken into the court at Rome. Former Sgt. Franklin Groser drew a pistol from his coat as Jacques passed him and fired twice, Lubee was killed instantly. Sgt. Groser is being held by the police. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In his press conference the Kaiser announced, "It seems that Russia, too, has accepted our declaration of peace."
