Increased numers of several strains have been reported and the researchers fear that a crsis situation may be at hand. The leading theory among the researchers is that the unsually large concentration of various militaries in the region has allowed bacterial breeding to run rampant. A new theory, however, proposes that the bacteria detected are actually a new strain, carried into the region fact that the bacteria found tend to cause confusion and dementia in humans, such as may have affected the Austrian high command last Spring. Whatever the cause, the group claims that mass evacuation of the region is the only means to avert catastrophe. They have asked all armed forces in the region to comply. ***************************************************************** Winter '02 Orders Due by Friday 9th November NLT 2300 MST Happy Hunting John "Rork" Theisen jjt@naucse.cse.nau.edu Spring '02 of the game GOODBYE BLUE SKY (MNC number not known) (Gunboat game, GM is death@csc.waterloo.edu/Trevor Green) Date: Mon, 5 Nov 90 4:27:22 EST One set of orders were late, and as a result this batch is a bit late. One person asked if all the scattered press releases by Turkey were valid. The answer: Yes. We have a dislodged unit that has to retreat. This will happen in the Summer turn, so get yer press and retreat in! The deadline is Monday (probably today by the time you read this). Keep up the good work! I think Monday-Thursday will work. One person suggested Monday-Wednesday-Friday, but I think that's a bit quick for some people (i.e. me). This means Fall orders and press are due Thursday, although if I get orders sooner, they'll get processed sooner. Please don't leave things until the last minute! Thus the Russian fleet was forced to | |decline the generous offer of a tour of the Mediterranean via | |Constantinople. "Perhaps it is simpler for Turkey to have sole control | |of operations in the Mediterranean anyway", he is reported to have | |said. Russia is reportedly hoping to assist Turkey in gaining more | |centers so the Turkish Naval building program can continue at full speed. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Spring 1902 THE PAPAL BULL 250 Lira | | "All the Pope's Bull" | | | | Navy Prepares for Exercises in the Adriatic | |Naples (IPS) Admirial J. Ceaser announced his plans for fall training | |exercises in the Adriatic. "It will be the most glorious cruise of my 50 | |year career," the admiral was heard to say. It would, indeed, be the most | |glorious trip of his career; every single vessel which the Admiral has | |ever commanded has been sunk within weeks of launching. Hopefully, the | |Holy Avenger will do better that this, perhaps lasting even a full year. | |The Ministry of the Navy has flatly refused to comment. | | | | Holy War Continues | |Trieste (VD) There was heavy fighting in the Venice area today as the | |battle enters its second season. Pope Sadis I is said to be personally | |leading his troops in the area, carrying a large crucifix in one hand and a | |sub-machine gun in the other. So far no Italian casualties have been | |reported. The Papacy has declined to comment on the rumor that His | |Holiness is personally leading the troops, although the Pope has not been | |seen in public for several months now. | | | | Italian POW-MIA's Suspected to be Held in Serbia | |Rome (IPS) We have today yet another sighting of POW's in Serbia, even | |though the Hungarian goverment denies to hold any prisoners. This is the | |fourth sighting this week, and the twenty-ninth for the month. Reports of | |POW's in Serbia have skyrocketed since the release of the new silent film | |"Ramboni: Family Blood, Part II". It is our patriotic duty to free these | |brave Italians and to smash the Hungarian menace. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Spring 1902 LE PARISIEN | | | | Louis LXXIV. answers the Kaiser | | | |Paris - Yesterday, our beloved king Louis LXXIV. sent a response to the German| |emperor who had directly addressed Him in a speech before. Some parts of this | |answer were like "Dear brother in ruling! We recognize that We have been be- | |trayed by the English government. Our own investigators on the case were | |blocked massively by the British authorities, but nevertheless Our clever | |agents found out it was a plot set up by the Englishmen to divide Germany and | |France. We therefore decided that We accept your offer to join forces against| |England, which - having no king whatsoever - urgently deserves better ruling, | |e.g. by You or Us. However, We fear that We may not be able to inform Our Army| |in Belgium early enough of Our new information. It may therefore be the case | |that Britain takes control of Holland, which, to be sure, will be only a | |temporary problem, provided that you inform us how you'll take it away from | |them again in fall. Of course We do hope for cooperation on your side, | |otherwise We might reconsider everything. We will judge you by your actions." | |A source who claims to know the King very well told our reporter that "He [Our| |beloved king] made up His mind very late. He made the decision to teach | |the Britons a lesson on the spot and changed earlier orders. His argument was | |something like 'this way it seems more fun'." Unluckily, shortly thereafter | |our source was arrested by the secret police. A spokesman of the King said | |that only severe political reasons were considered in the decision. | | | | Secret peace treaty signed with Italy | | | |Geneva - Rumors were spread that the French and Italian foreign ministers have| |signed a peace treaty for the western Mediterranean area. "Both states have | |agreed on their spheres of influence", an insider told our reporter, "which | |means Italy as well as France keep out of Piedmont and don't move their | |fleets any further than the Gulf of Lyon (for France) and the Tyrrhenian | |Sea (for Italy). The Western Mediterranean was declared as a 'zone free of | |fleets'." Both governments declined to comment, but an Italian diplomat | |was heard to say "That's a good deal; we go east and they go north!" | | | | Minister of Defense talks to Russian ambassador | | | |Paris - Negotiations have begun between France and Russia on how to remove | |England from the map. Matthieu de la Guerre, the French minister of defense, | |fully agreed that Russia should be responsible for the Scandinavian area. | |In return, the Russian ambassador assured him that "Russia will provide | |any help it can to the great French task of bringing England back to a good | |government." A confirmation from the Czar himself on that matter is still | |missing. | | | | Germany makes plans to beat England | | | |Paris - From our correspondent in Berlin we got the following report: | |"Ve vill make England pay for every lie zey told apout us!" a German | |spokesman of the ministry of war declared yesterday. "Ve vill get Holland, if | |not in spring, then in fall! Anyway, our heroic fleet in Daenemark will drive | |the Englishmen in the Nord Sea crazy, hehe!" He did not comment on how the | |German armies will try to conquer Holland, but stated that "surely our French | |Nachbarn will help us." No information could be gathered about the actions | |of the German army in Tyrolia. "Zis is a secret, you know, and that is why | |I don't tell you about zat." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |(Secretstown) An inmate of the local lunatic asylum escaped yesterday to tell | |everybody that he is the secret power behind the French ruler. Before being | |caught again, he stated "I, the great power behind the French empire, hereby | |wish to apologize to the secret ruler of England for the unforseeable actions | |of the king I thought to control. However, his decision promises much more fun| |in Europe than what would have come from the traditional Mediterranean raid. | |France and Germany together against England! What a big and funny war! Of | |course I hope for an active participation of Germany and maybe Russia, yeah." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Free German Press -- Because no one would buy it! | |"Germany picks up the British Gauntlet and slaps ruler in face for slander." | |This was the only comment we could get from the German High Command as | |troops moved out for the coast. | | | |Other comments heard around the Great German Empire were: | |"I guess the Russians didn't have enough money to build ships this year." | | | |Also, this latest news flash picked up by one of our reporters who has | |over heard two (unnamed) German officials speaking. "The Kaiser is tired | |of getting falsified messages from its southern neighbors and has | |decided to send troops to stop anymore occurances of this." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Istanbul (AP): "Preparations continue in our fair capital as we await the | |Russian envoy and his grand White Navy. Relations with the Tsar remain steady| |and we hope this free passage to the Aegean and Mediterranean will be accepted| |graciously." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Sofia (UPI): "A covert Ottoman assault team was reported to have departed | |from the capital in search of the renegade Thracian mercenaries who escaped | |into neighboring Serbia. The Turkish embassy is still recovering from the | |tragedy and the Russian ambassador's condition has not changed. The Deputy | |Ambassador has kept all potential communiques between himself and his Russian | |counterpart in Bucharest under wraps." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Ankara (AP): "The Southern corps, who have been here since the fall of last | |year, have been assigned to escort the White Navy into our fair port | |at the Capital. Because of recent negotiations with Italy, the Minister of | |Defense does not feel a sufficient need to strengthen southern defenses. | |Therefore, this main corps has been asked to remain in the country proper to | |assist in diplomatic relations." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Nicosia (AP): "Despite efforts by the Sultan to heal relations between Turks | |and Greeks, a new round of fighting opened up on the Isle of Cyprus as a | |splinter group of Greeks seized the capital and several government buildings. | |There has been no word from either the governments in Athens or Istanbul." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Istanbul (AP): "The first navy departed from the Horn this morning en route to| |a rendezvous with the Italians. In embarking on his program of conciliation | |with Greece, the Sultan has requested Italian assistance in moderating further| |negotiations. A rendezvous at Athens is expected in the fall followed by joint| |maneuvers off the point at Actium." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Smyrna (AP): "Nothing happened here.
