But tell me, since you are/were one of the players of game Ungawe; what has happened to that game? Is it on hold? Or has it ended already? Or what is the status? I haven't heard from Michel since June and I ought to publish the game results in my Chapter. Perhaps you can give me a clue. Thanks, Constantijn From: death@watcsc.uwaterloo.ca To: cwekx@kub.nl Date: Tue, 30 Oct 90 23:37:09 EST The status of Ungawe is ambiguous. Aspirin and other drugs from the Royal pharmacy have | |been given to everybody who still had a headache. King Louis LXXIV (our | |beloved king - you know...) participated in more than 20 events of the | |celebrations. "Next year, We will organize the holidays even bigger!" He | |announced. | | | | State funeral for heroic diplomats | | | |Paris - Yesterday the funeral of the heroic diplomats killed in London by | |German agitators took place. The mayor of Paris called them "Good and faith- | |ful French ambassadors stabbed into the back by ruthless murderers". The | |German ambassador who tried to participate had to retreat into his cab when | |an angry crowd threw stones at him. "We have nothing to do with this" he | |told the press, "it's all an English fake to divide Germany and France!" | |The French government has given no comment yet, but every brave Frenchman | |knows all Germans are liars from birth onward! Unofficial sources alleged | |cooperation between France and Great Britain on a joint operation in | |the Netherlands. "Most probably, the English attack will succeed next time!" | |a member of the King's staff said. | | | | Defensive measures continue | | | |Brest/Marseilles/Paris - Several new units were build this winter to make | |the French defense stronger. The fleet in Brest is supposed to keep away any | |enemy from the Mid-Atlantic. "Of course, we will not enter the Channel, as | |long as England remains out of there too!" the commanding officer of the newly| |constructed 2nd French fleet at Brest, admiral Gaulois Pengpeng told the | |press. In Marseilles, our beloved King Louis LXXIV announced the completion | |of another new French fleet. "We can't accept any threats at our southern | |frontier!" He said. "Nevertheless we assure Our Italian friends that all We | |seek for is a balance of power in the Mediterranian area. We do not plan any | |attack on Italian provinces, but We do have to keep Ourself protected just | |in case His Holiness makes a terrible mistake." He did not comment on the | |purpose of the new army in Paris; neither did any other official. | | | | Hercule Poirot elected president of Belgium | | | |Brussels - After the successful liberation of the oppressed French majority | |by a French army peace has returned to Belgium. Hercule Poirot, leader of the | |Belgian French Party (BFP) was elected President shortly after a new | |parliament had constituted in Brussels. "We will not do to our Dutch citizens | |what they have done to us!" he promised. "There shall be no '2nd class | |citizen' anymore." Most Dutch-speaking Belgians (who are called 'B-Belgians' | |according to a new law) acknowledged that "'A-Belgians' are better Belgians, | |and we are happy that we are still alive". | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Istanbul (UPI): "In light of recent statements made by the Tsar, local | |authorities here have prepared for a tentative grand tour of our great city. | |Plans are underway for the White Navy to pass by the Grand Canal en route to | |joint maneuvers in the Aegean." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | The Official Press of the German Empire | | | | Hold the press! We have an important announcement from the Kaiser | |himself... | | | | Hello peoples of the vorld. I, Kaiser of the Great German Empire, send | |a question to the French Leader and people. "How can you stand by and have | |the English rulers assault and kill your people so openly? They have tried to| |cover up the outrage by diverting the blame which should fall upon | |themselves. They disguise one of their own people as me, (how awful!) and use| |this person to eliminate two distinguished French diplomats. If you do not | |believe this then ask yourself, if I, Kaiser of the Great German Empire, was | |captured, tortured, flogged and browbeaten by the Brits. Do you think they | |would let me go? No, they would hold on to me. Also, if they have ahold of me| |then the information about the murder of your people would not be getting to | |you. | | "You might also ask yourself why I, Kaiser of the Great German Empire, | |present this to you? I have been insulted by this fiendish plot. I | |propose that together, Our Great Peoples can wipe this scourge from the area. | |I will move north to Ruhr while you have your Great People move North also. | |Your troops would surve you better in Picardy then Burgundy." | | | | The Kaiser's follow-up statement to this was, "What say you glorious | |Ruler of France? Besides, they drive on the wrong side of the road!" | | | | This was the end of the speech. Only cheers and praise could be heard | |from all attending... | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Sofia (UPI): "Thracian mercenaries, having successfully beaten back attempts | |by both the Ottomans and Habsburgs to subdue them, slipped into Bulgaria and | |mounted full frontal machine-gun assaults on the Turkish and Russian | |embassies. The Turkish ambassador and several of his staff were killed | |instantly while the Russian ambassador remains in critical condition. | | | |Embassy guards report that the assailants fled to the northwest and the border| |patrol observed a group matching their description crossing into Serbia. The | |local Ottoman guard was mobilized and has asked permission from Belgrade | |claiming `hot pursuit'. | | | |Since this is in the interests of both our countries, the acting Turkish | |representative has requested help from his Russian counterpart in Bucharest. | |It is hoped that our joint operation will root out the treacherous Thracians | |from their Serbian refuge." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |London, England 13 December 1901 | |The Daily Gossip | | | |A DAY IN THE YORKSHIRE MILITARY CAMP | | | |Despite our intensive diplomatic negotiations with the Russian empire, Russia | |refuses to face the German threat. | |When we asked one of our most reliable sources among our top leaders | |about what he thought of the offical Russian attitude towards Germany | |he replied: "They will probably leave the burden of keeping the Germans | |busy to us". | |During the past year we have been able to follow the hunt for English spies in| |the Black Sea. They were allegedly operating "subsurface" in big barrels | |equipped with latest technology. | |The Hungarian Department of Military Science has debunked this explanation. | |It was invented two years ago by two Russian scientists in order | |to get more money from a foundation to build these "sub water | |barrels". However, the World hasn't the technology to build these things, | |and it's doubtful, even if they can be constructed, if they are of military | |value. | |The Russian empire has apparently been led astray. "We hope that the Russians | |will not interfere, when our troops here in Yorkshire, in collaboration with | |the Frenchmen, try to rescue Holland from the German terror this Spring", | |a proud army officer said before he hastened away, well aware that | |he had said too much. | |Well, what can we say? Hopefully the Russians will not be a threat, and our | |military plans do not seem to show any hostility towards them. But the | |strategists are very well aware of, and fear, possible military preparations | |in Northern Russia. | |In any case, our country is well equipped in these times of war, so the | |ordinary citizen can sleep soundly and have confindence in our military and | |diplomatic experts. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Istanbul (AP): "The Minister of Propaganda temporarily lifted the press ban in| |the Smyrna region so as to allow for the Finance Minister's announcement." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Smyrna (AP): "The Minister of Finance arrived in this regional capital to | |issue his annual productivity report. According to the census at the turn of | |the century, the national economy is booming. In fact, progress has reached | |the point such that resources are becoming taxed in our other major cities. | |Consequently we are left to redirect our energies to the Mediterranean sector.| |The naval shipyards here will be operating at full capacity further boosting | |the economic well-being of the entire region. | | | |We now return you to your regularly scheduled press ban." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Pergamum (Mameluke Underground Mission): "Sources report that the upgraded | |naval shipyard will shortly be launching ships for joint maneuvers with the | |Italians near the historical battle site at Actium." | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Winter 1901 The Papal Bull 250 Lira | | "The Papal Proclamations in Print" | | | | Hungarian Nation Tortures Italians!!!! | | Geneva (VD) The Leauge of Nothings Commission on Human Rights Violations | |today brought to light the horrors being committed against foreigners within | |the Dual Empire. Castration, torture, mutilation, and starvation are all | |methods that the Austro-Hungarians are using to enforce their will on not | |only Italians, but Germans, Russians, and Turks as well. One citizen, who | |wishes to remain nameless, gave explicit reports of babies being impaled on | |bayonets. When the Hungarian ambassador was questioned, all he did was to | |chortle in an evil tone and say, "Why don't you come and stop us?" The | |Italian government, in a rare display of verbosity, commented that the | |government is horrified by these reports, and hopes steps are taken to | |reverse this trend. | | | | Crusade Declared | | Papacy (IPS) Pope Sadis I declared the Ninth Crusade today against the new | |Catholic Holy Land, Serbia. Units are being formed to retake this most | |holy of spots, and the Papacy expressed its wishes that all nations band | |together against the infidel Orthodox Greeks, who continue to occupy | |Serbia. The government has declined to comment. | | | | German Anschluss in the Works? | | Tyrol (TFP) Inside sources in the Italian Tyrolian Free Press today | |forwarded rumors from Tyrol that German agents are prepared to seize Vienna | |in the fall of 1902, and form a Gross Deutschland. All these rumors are | |totally unsubstantiated, and the government has declined to comment. | |------------------------------------------------------------------------------| |Damasq (UPI): "Local commanders have lowered their defenses and have taken the| |region off of red alert in light of recent positive statements by the Italian | |naval commander at Naples. Several more cautious officers, however, remain on| |yellow alert." | ================================================================================ Publisher comments: Sweet's Cosy Korner: I got a question about the issues #s of the Chapters. Chapter One's Issue #206 has just been published. Eric's at #209 (I think) with his own articles Chapter while I am still at #196. How comes? Well, as soon as you are taking over a Chapter, you start with the same # as Eric's at with his Chapter at that very moment. Then you try to keep up with Eric (You should know that you officially have to publish two issues each week). This is #197. Eric's at #209. So I didn't manage to keep up with him. Ok, let's count! Assuming the 2 issues a week constraint... I missed 4 issues in May, 3 in June, 5 in July, 1 in August, 4 in September and 2 in October. Makes 19! I did publish 56 issues so far. So... 56 out of 85, that's not such a bad rating, is it? Eric scores 68 out of 85. I have no idea how the others are doing.
