Major Change: o Instead of not wanting to be caught tagged, you will _want_ to get tagged. Why: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- o THE PERSON WITH THE MOST TAGS WINS!!!!!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- o This will avoid the whole mess of being caught tagged. Everyone will receive a point for every tag received! o You will have to implement a new strategy of tagging different people. If you keep tagging your friends all the time, you'll lose because they'll have more points than you! o The people who log on more often will no longer have any advantages! o People who run automatic repliers (if there are any...) will no longer have any advantages! o Less administration time! (yea!) o Players added later in the game no longer have any advantages! o Why didn't I think of this sooner?! In Conclusion: o I see a Kinder, Gentler, E-Mail Tag for this semester. As always, if there are any suggestions or clarifications, email me at whatever address is easier to remember: (They all point to the first address given.) Tim@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu Tag@uiuc.edu Genghis@uiuc.edu mwbeeeehhhh@uiuc.edu NEVER USE TAG@UXA.CSO.UIUC.EDU! Trust me on this one, folks. o I have to go through who's still playing now. When I'm done, the first batch of tags will be sent. Until then, here are the rules. ______ __ ____ (_ _) / \ / ___) The Next Generation! | | / /\ \ ( (_,--, ---------------------------- |__| (_/~~\_) \____/ Play-by-Electronic-Mail Game --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Official-type Rules as of January 25th, 1991 version TNG1.0 Synopsis: o The game works as follows: I tag someone via e-mail, then they tag someone via e-mail, then they tag someone via e-mail, etc. The message can be as simple as "Tag! You're It," or you can be as original as you want. 1. An Official Tag MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING LINE IN IT: --------------------------8< cut here ------------------------------------- TAGSTATS (sender's nickname) TAGS (receiver's nickname) ON STRING (string) ---------------------------- cut here >8----------------------------------- A. All letters must be in Capitals. B. Send the original to (receiver), and two Carbon copies (Cc:): i. One to Tag@uiuc.edu; ii. One to yourself! C. The TAGSTATS line can be anywhere in the BODY of the letter (this EXCLUDES the subject line). D. Failure to remember any of the above rules will result in a warning, and afterwards you will be dropped from the game. Due to the amount of mail I get and the amount of time I spend on the system, I'll have to be a little anal retentive about this. 2. The Scoring System: You receive one point for every time tagged. That's it! 3. Tag "Strings": A. One string of tags can be pretty slow for many players. That's why there are a number of strings, ordered alphabetically. Include the name of the Tag String (i.e. A,B,C...) in the body of the letter. This helps me keep track of all tags. Tag strings do not limit your choices as to whom you may tag. You may still tag anyone on the list. B. If you are tagged on more than one string at a time, you must tag an equal number of unique players. NOTE: this means you may not tag the same player more than once. 4. Prizes: A. The person who has been tagged the MOST will win a pizza lunch at a local Champaign/Urbana pizza place, their choice. B. If the winner lives in the Continental US, a gift certificate will be sent instead. C. If you are outside the Continental US, sorry. :-) 5. Miscellaneous: A. NO tagbacks. B. You may NOT tag me. C. Player Lists and Updates: All players get a complete list of other players. After that, updates will be mailed to all players. Player lists include how many points each player has. I will NOT specifically mail all players the winning players so as to ``narrow down the field.'' D. E-Mail Tag Discussions to be held in rec.games.pbm! E. The game will end well before final exam weeks. (For those players on semi-normal semester schedules, that is.) F. You must immediately inform me if you change your mailing address or nameserver alias. G. You must immediately inform me if your mail bounces. H. The Official Disclaimer: I have the right to do whatever I deem necessary. So there. ******************************************************************************* * Rules ENDS here.
