The deadline for orders will be Tue Jan 15 23:30:00 MET. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Broadcast message from STAL031@KUB.NL as France in aust: Le Figaro, Paris - TUNISIAN CONSULATE BOMBED An assasination attempt on Major C.Overt, Special Liason Officer to Vice- Admiral Giuseppe Pentangelli of the Italian Navy and his secretary Lt. W. Illing failed miserably last night when one faulty fire-bomb was thrown into the Major's office while the second, less faulty, exploded prematurely burning the two would-be-assasins beyond recongnition. The first fire-bomb caused little damage to the office's furnishings. Both the Major and his secretary remained unharmed as they happened to be working behind the sofa on "highly classified and sensative material". An investigation lead by Tunisian Police Inspector Colombohla indicates that the assasination attempt was carried out by the Grey Wolves, The Sultan's Secret Service. This accusation could be supported by the evidence found on the two men. Both men wore "Wolves's Paw" sandals (Made in Turkey, standard issue Grey Wolf gear). Furthermore, the matches used to detonate the bombs came from a matchbook which had the trade mark: >>> Madam Fatma's House of Entertainment <<< In addition, Turkish currency (or the remains thereof) where found in the pockets as well as a note reading (in Turkish): "Target: Maj. C.Overt at Consulate (get the woman too if possible)." Sources in the Intelligence community expect the frequency of such activities to increase as the Naval battles do not seem to render the desired results. Rumor has it that, because of this turning point in the war against Turkey, the authorities contemplate the distribution of the controversial book "The Art of Murder" by the late Lady Luscious Fruits to Tunisian women in the hope that they'll be inspired to assist the French and Italian forces. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Broadcast message from STAL031@KUB.NL as France in aust: Le Figaro, Paris - FRENCH AND BRITISH SECRET SERVICES BAFFLED Several delegations of both France and Britain have been send to Berlin during the past weeks only to find the Kaiser not willing or able to give audiences. When the last delegation returned from Berlin, lead by Mr. A. Stonished, empty handed the Marquis ordered the FSS to investigate the goings on at the German court. The tentative conclusion is that the Kaiser has dissapeared. The intelligence community takes into consi- deration the possibility of abduction by the Grey Wolves. Inquiries made with the English have not rendered any clues as to the fate of the Kaiser. Mr. S. Uspiscious, spokesman of the French Centre Party claimed in an interview yesterday that Germany's Kaiser had probably left the alliance against the Sultan "dark emipire". "It is typical of ce German people to desert their allies. I am sure he has decided to join ce Turks." Mr. S. Uspicious has received a warning from the FSS regarding provocative statements which could endanger national security. Family and friends have urged him not to make any more public statements (remembering the late opposition leader's fate). I am moving my fleet in the Tyrrhenian Sea to Tunis this turn and then to North Africa next turn unless you tell me to move somewhere else. That fleet is at your complete disposal. You just have to let me know a turn ahead of time where you want it to go and what you want it to do. As soon as I pound a little sense into the Germans I will hopefully be able to alleviate some of the pressure that the French are putting on you with my armies. I'm not sure what you are going to do with that fleet in the MAO but I hope that you haven't ignored the possibility of taking Loverpool this year (there is only one move that can keep it from being taken and the English are tied up in the North right now.) A-G: Well, it appears you have made your decision. I respect that although I think it was a mistake to more on me. I really was intent on not attacking either you or Italy. Now it appears that Italy is the only one who values his word. :-) A-R: My compliments on a game well played. As I have said before, you inherited a raw deal and my contimued attack on you is nothing personal. I hope that we will play again in some future game and that we will be able to ally or at least not attack each other. A-T: Well, with any luck, I'll finish both you and the Russians this turn. If not, I apologize for taking you out before him but it was a matter of practicality. I will however, offer the Turkish leadership a nice home and lands in which to live after the war is over. A-F: You and the Italians certainly seem to have a knack(sp?) for trading places. Too bad you're going to lose Marseilles this turn and probably never be able to take it back. A-E: Yes, you will get St. Petersburg but that is about it. Eventually, you will be hit, and hit hard. And that will be the end of it all. England -> Italy: I pick my nose and fling my boogers at you! I fart in your general direction! England -> France: Please excuse my movement into the Channel. This is a purely defensive response to the Italian "threat". I WILL LEAVE BREST ALONE. PROMISE. The Italian presence in the MAO not only endangers the Isles, but it also threatens Germany's low countries. This is the ONLY reason why I've moved into the channel. Once the Italian "navy" disappears, I can either move back away from your coasts or perhaps leave a fleet in the NAO and/or Iri Sea to support a French fleet holding in the MAO. This will keep the Italians/Austrians bottled up and secure the southern end of the stalemate line. In the meantime, please retake the MAO. I'll try to contain the Italian garbage scows! England -> Germany: I've tried to plug the channel so that the Italians won't bother the Isles or low countries. Hopefully the Italian pests will disappear soon, but it will probably take awhile. Meanwhile, up north, I sent A Nry-StP with support from the Barents. Together, we might have done Austria some serious damage this turn. If I am now in StP, I want to move my F Barents in the fall to help deal with the Italians. So I will need support from your fleet in Finland to help hold StP. I hope this isn't asking too much... I'd appreciate the favor. If I didn't take StP this turn, I'll try again in the fall: A Nry-StP. I may have to send F Bar southward anyway depending on what the Italians did. If he is in the NAO, I will move F Bar-Nwg this fall. Please do what you can to make A Nry-StP work. I'll owe you. Supporting A Nry-StP from Fin and GOB while using F Bal-Lvn to cut support would guarantee it. Thanks in advance... England -> France and Germany: I know both of you have changed leadership lately. I only have two goals in this game: To survive and to stop Austria/Italy. The only way that WE can do that is to put up a solid defense. Working together is the only way. So both of you can expect ABSOLUTELY NO TROUBLE out of me. I may be sailing around behind you both, but my goal is to help provide for OUR common defense. Let's keep up the great teamwork! Both of you have my promise that I will leave all of your supply centers alone. I'm not going to do anything to screw up this alliance. Our fate rests in our own hands, since together we can stop the Austrian/Italian steamroller. England -> Austria: There was a mistake in my last press (F06). You haven't claimed that you will attack Italy. I meant that you had threatened France in the S06 press. For that matter, you've been threatening me too! I apologize for all the anti-Austrian press. You are just getting way too big! France --> Europe Happy holidays. Death to Austria. Germany has returned. Germany -> England I know I am new, but it looks like we are an alliance to the death. Ours or Austrias. I therefore will keep going in the same fassion as my predecessor. As to strategy STP will fall this turn if you do your part. Get the Italian out. It shouldn't be too much a problem seeing as he will have to start taking armies off as soon as AH realizes he cannot break through my lines and starts to munch on little Italy. (Judging by AH's previous play he must be smart enough to realize that Italys puppet government days are at an end and that it would be easy to take him out.) Next turn get me into warsaw. If possible. Move th e Barents Sea back to help the homeland. I will support you if necessary in order to staty in STP. Germany -> Russia Turkey See you in (somewhere far far south). If England france and I cant reach your current (but soon to be lost) places, then we will join you in the same boat. Good luck (but you really dont have a chance and have just given Austria most of the game) Germany -> France Hold on. As soon as Italy falls (see message to england) you will have a chance to set up a stalemate line or (maybe) even push the red (communist scum) armies back. BTW, if Itally is not backstabbed until the fall. I wish you the best of luck and do want to remain allies (but how did you let Itally screw you so bad!!!) *sigh* (I think you were the last hope). On the Brightside, As soon as You are gone, I really dont think AH will share his victory with Italy. Germany -> Austria Save your breath. Germany -> Italy Oh how far we have fallen... See you in rome ;-) I -> AH, Things are looking at least fun on my side of the board. I think I have a chance of taking some permanent pieces out of this corner. You at least have the SE corner taken care of, but you will probably BE taken care of in the NE corner. Once they get StP it will be theirs forever. You will surely be in the Tyr Sea this turn, and I may be in Spain. I believe that France can't both knock me out of the MAO and hold Spain. If I am in Spain I suggest you move to the WMe in the Fall. While if I fail to take Spain then I think you should move to the Gulf of Lyon, since I will take my assured gain of Marseille then... (attacking from Gulf Lyon and breaking any relavant supports) Surely the English will swarm into the ECh and NAO this turn trying to quarter my MAO unit, thus I think we look stalemate in the face still. Once all those fleets are hanging out over there, holding Mar AND Spa won't really matter. I -> E, I won't go into the English Channel if you dont... I -> G, You don't want StP... its cold. I -> T, I think AH lied about letting you survive longer than Russia. At least you kept a home supply center longer than Russia! I -> R, A rather pesty move disbanding Ankara instead of Armenia. I -> F, If you attack Germany. I will attack England. GM - All: Well, welcome back, one and all. Sorry for the 24 hour delay from when I promised this, but instead of saving the message with Austria's 1907 moves, I saved some nast message from an empire mailing list; I had to go back and root through about 2Mb of printed mail before I found the moves. But, we're back, and I think things will start running smoothly from now on. There's three units in retreat this season; let's have those retreats in by Monday, 11pm EST. Order submission will be conditional on when the retreats come in, of course, but Wednesday, January 9, sounds like a good time to me. Let's be prompt! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, retreats are in. The delay in this is my fault; I incorrectly stated that Italy could retreat to Portugal when in fact it could not; I had to request a new retreat for Italy, which took time. Retreats: Italy: F MAO - NAO France: F Spa - Por Turkey: F Smy - disbands Yes, Turkey has been eliminated from the game, the first casualty so far. A moment of silence, please. Moves for Fall, 1907 should be in no later than 11pm EST Monday, January 14, 1991. Neatness counts.
