Dear friends,

I made a mistake in the Fall and Autumn reports. I have Italy moving
A Pie -> Ven (succeeding) in the Fall orders. But the unit positions
still places Italy's army in Piedmont. This should, of course, be Ven,
and I have corrected it in the Winter results (below) (thanks to Jim
for pointing this out).

I also got a note from Russia with his new network address. From now
on all mail should be adressed to lydick@freezer.it.udel.edu.

Since we have finished 1904 in time (just before the Christmas vacation)
I hereby declare this game on hold till January 20 (Rick will be gone
until about January 18). I will send you an acknowledgement and set
a new deadline in the second week of January.

For now: a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you!

I am sorry if it caused any confusion, but the French built a fleet
in a Brest, but on the position list, I had it is an army.  Please make
and extra effort to check the results, some of the moves were very
complex this time, and it's not as easy to figure them out when you
don't have a board!  Maybe I should throw out my VT220, and keep the
map set up on my desk.  :-)

EMPEROR CHAD CLAIMS BAVARIAN SKI RESORT

In a furious speech Emperor Chad of Austria-Hungary has claimed his rights
on the Bavarian ski resort of Huegelab. In the nineteenth century this
ski resort belonged to Emperor Chad's great grand mother baroness Teutonia
von Sixpilsen and who was cheated out of it, after a flamboyant and scandalous
affair with O. von Bismarck (in his younger days).
It is uncertain how the latest claim by Emperor Chad will influence German
Austrian relations. Latest reports from the Bavarian border area indicate
that German-Austrian ski-traffic went down significantly.

PRAVDA : FOREIGN AFFAIRS

TURKISH DELEGATION RECEIVES WARM WELCOME.
Moscow - St. Petersburg. Thousands of people went out to welcome the
Turkish delegation today. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesman
Count Alexei Turkistanovitch stated that the current understanding
is an accomplishment worth celebrating. The Count received the medal
of St. Joris from the Czar for his efforts in realizing the state of
affairs with Turkey. The Count was also granted special audience with
both His Imperial Majesty the Czar and his gemalin, Her Imperial Majesty
Elizabeth. We have yet to be informed about the purpose of the ausdience.

Colonel Vladimir Polishnikov, head of the Czar Secret Service was reported
in Vienna, last week by one of our correspondents. As expected, the Colonel
was spotted in various lewed establishments. When confronted with this, the
Colonel stated "I am here on private business. Piss off!"
Sources within the palace, however, have revealed that the Czar had sent his
Chief Intelligence Officer to Vienna in light of the troop movements for the
Imperial forces.

NATIONAL:

The Ministry of Finance has proposed a tax increase on women's underwear. The
motivation for this tax increase was formulated by Sasha Pervertikov, spokes-
man for the Ministry of Fianance: "The Imperial Treasury requires additional
funds to finance the upcomming campaigns. It is the conviction of the Ministry
of Finance that Russian women wear too many things. They could do without
underwear for a change and those resources can be used for battle clothing."
It should be noted that S. Petrikov has often referred to his wife as being
as warm as Siberia when it comes to the bedroom.

causes great concern.

(Rome) - Lots of happy people welcome the Italian tourists to Tunis.
(Piedmont) - Where are we?  We lost our bearings in the blinding snow
at the top of the mountains.

PRAVDA, St. Petersburg - DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS DISTURBED, TURKEY OUT?

Members of the Turkish delegation were arrested today by the Czar's Secret
Service. Colonel Vladimir Polishnikov refused to make any statements. However,
sources within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stated that "... the
relationship between the Czar and the Sultan has deteriorated. We fear this
incident may very well result in the recall of our ambassador in Constanti-
nopel."
Rumor has it that, during a routine check of the chambers of the Turkish
delegation by the St. Petersburg Vice-Squad, top secret documents regarding
military troop movements as well as the blue prints for the latest warship
were found in hidden compartments of the suitcases.
The Turkish Ambassador, Hami El Khassan, accused Colonel Vladimir Polishnikov
of "setting-up" the Turkish delegation. According to the ambassador, the
colonel's pursuing his private interests, e.g. his stockholdings in an Viennese
bank and his Austrian mistress, and doesn't hesitate to jeopardize the Turkish-
Russian relations.
Related to the diplomatic incident was the arrest of naval Captain Constantin
Shiatsky. The captain was alledgedly recruted by the "Grey Wolves", the Turkish
Secret Service in 1892, during a visit to "Madam Fatma's House of Entertainment
in Constantinopel. The captain is expected to be executed within a week.

Count Alexei Turkistanovitch was not available for any comment. Friends and
relatives have stated that the Count is deeply shocked by the recent develop-
ments. He is expected to ask Her Imperial Majesty Elizabeth for direct inter-
vention in an effort to restore the Russian-Turkish relations.

Speculation about a possible shift in alliances does exist within the Ministry
of foreign Affairs but no one dares to make a statement.
