Ha! Well, I suppose you can have your delay ... ... but only if you convert one of your fleets (the one in the Western Med would be nice) as a luxury liner for the rest of us. We want a vacation too! -- Czar Rick P.S.: Apologies to Danny (or anybody else in the real-life France) if he is offended by the "snail-eaters" reference above. PPS: If not obvious, :-) ! signoff --------------------- Broadcast message from STAL031@KUB.NL as France in aust: Le Figaro, Marseilles - HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DEMANDS CONSISTENT FOREIGN POLICY The House of representatives by word Mr. Hubert Le Claire has demanded that the Marquis' cabinet explain the recent highly inconsistent publications regarding Foreign Policy. Le Claire stated that "... Due to the numerous often controversial statements regarding military and diplomatic efforts we, as a nation, no longer know where we stand. The Parisian Enquirer reports that the recent inconsistent foreign policy was formulated by a Charge d'Affairs and not by the Marquis. The author claims to have sources close to the first family and states that the relational problems have affected the nation. Though no one will claim the PE to be the most credible source in France, some of the article must be based on truth. We, as the nation's conscience, have the right to know the truth. It is our duty to inquire. We therefore, gentlemen, must demand an explanation!" Though the Marquis did attend the session, he did not respond to Le Claire's statements. Inquiries have thus far not revealed anything but we will keep readers informed. Several sailors on leave have confirmed that French Naval and Intelligence Officers have been meeting with their Turkish counterparts. Thus far, no one has been willing or able to reveal the nature of the discussion. Interviews with sailors of the IInd and IIIrd navies indicate, however, that the Thyrrenean Sea may be one issue of discussion. Recent manuevres seem to indicate that the taking of the Thyrrenean sea may be at hand. Opinions on how this will be accomplished differ. Some state that peace with Turkey's at hand and that Turkey will surrender TYS (naval jargon) to France as part of a peace treaty. Others assert that Vice-Admiral Jean-Jacques Rapier has received orders to take TYS no matter what. Still others claim to have heard from Italian collegae that Admiral Pentagelli has notified French naval commanders that he will take TYS himself in order to retake Rome and Napoli. The situation is very confusing! A sailor remarked, "I do not really care what cey are doing. I'm a good citizen and I care for my country. If ce Turks wish to make ce peace, I'm all for it. We 'ave been at war too long. My kids call my neighbor Pappa and my doggy, he now barks at me. This war has kept me away from my family too long..." signoff --------------------- Broadcast message from STAL031@KUB.NL as France in aust: Le Figaro, Paris - NATION IN SHOCK. MARQUIS RETIRES. DUKE ROGER DENIS TJ'IN TO RULE FRANCE!!! Le Marquis announced his retirement from the political scene this afternoon. The announcement surprised and shocked many. Even members of the Tj'In family were taken by surprise by the announcement. Le Marquis has personally chosen his successor, the Duke of Brest, Roger Denis Tj'In. The Duke is a cousin of the Marquis and the frienship between the two goes back years. The Duke has always avoided publicity and little is known about him. Senior officers in both the goverment and the military have expressed there confidence in the Duke. "Few people know it but the Duke has been the right hand of the Marquis ever since the beginning. The Marquis never made a move without consulting his cousin, whether business or personal. I guess you could say that the Duke was the "Consiglieri". In his address in front of the House of representatives, during which the Marquis was absent, the Duke stated that he would act as Regent until the Marquis was able to return to the scene. "The Marquis' retirement is only temporary. He will return." Ambassadors, Consuls and several military officers have been ordered to Paris for a briefing. The change in leadership could very well change the European scene. The Duke has always lobbied for a policy of isolation for France. If he indeed pursues this course, the war with the Turkish-Russian alliance could very well be reality this Christmas. Though experts agree, they are less optimistic about the time-frame. "One should keep in mind that the Tj'Ins have a high sense of honor. The Duke will not fail the Alliance. This would entail a lot of negotiating with both King James I and Kaiser Thomas. One should also not forget the Italian stake in the game... No, I think that if peace with Turkey is possible, it will take another year before it is realized." --------------------- Broadcast message from eric@medinfo.gatech.edu as Italy in aust: ROMAN TRIBUNE: PENTAGELLI REASSURES MEN RETURN TO ITALY Admiral Pentangelli recently issued a memorandum to his officers assuring them that the effort to liberate Rome and/or Napoli will not be compromised. Senior Naval officers of the French Navy have confided that the admiral has issued the memorandum in order to prevent mutiny. Sources claim that admiral Pentagelli would be satisfied with one Italian city under his control, whether it be Rome, Naples, or Venice; the sources have stated that the admiral may very well be willing to join a French deal with the Sultan if such could be guaranteed and that he could "sell" this idea to his men. Pentagelli himself was not available for comment. signoff --------------------- Broadcast message from ROGER@nuacc.acns.nwu.edu as Turkey in aust: Greetings, It has come to the attention of this Sultan (may his women never be lonely at night) that there have been threats made against the Italians in Tunis. We will not allow this. Be it known that the Sultan (may his body always smell pleasant) will be willing to support the Italians in any effort against him. His most humble Sultan Roger ============================================================================ Blitzkrieg II -- Winter 1901 ============================================================================ The best way to understand the relationship between your heart and your health is to examine an actual heart. You cannot, of course, examine your own heart, unless you have a high threshold of pain, so instead you should trot down to the grocery store and ask the butcher for some surplus hearts from an assortment of animals-a cow, a pig, a fish, an earthworm, etc. Most butchers will be happy to give you the hearts for free, just to get you to go away. Now take your hearts home, spread them out on a clean, level surface, such as a Ping-Pong table, and examine them closely. You'll notice that the hearts differ in size, but they have one important thing in common: the animals they were removed from are all dead. This tells us that hearts are extremely important for physical fitness. -- Dave Barry, "Programs for the Unfit" *************** Austria (Tom Goodwin)......Build A Tri, A Vie England (Bruce Beutel).....Build F Lon, F Edi France (Brad Gillette).....Build A Mar, A Par Germany (Tim Moore)........Build A Ber, A Mun Italy (Stewart Winter).....Build F Nap Russia (Ted Fischer).......Build A War Turkey (Mattias Olofsson)..Build F Smy *************** Supply Centers: Total/(Units Owned)/Status Austria: Bud, Vie, Tri, Gre, Ser 5 (5) England: Lon, Lvp, Edi, Nwy, Bel 5 (5) France: Bre, Par, Mar, Por, Spa 5 (5) Germany: Kie, Ber, Mun, Den, Hol 5 (5) Italy: Ven, Rom, Nap, Tun 4 (4) Russia: StP, Mos, War, Sev, Rum 5 (5) Turkey: Ank, Con, Smy, Bul 4 (4) *************** Unit Positions -- Winter 1901: Austria: F Gre, A Ser, A Bud, A Tri, A Vie England: F NtS, F Nwy, F Lon, F Edi, A Bel France: F Por, A Pic, A Spa, A Mar, A Par Germany: F Den, A Hol, A Ruh, A Ber, A Mun Italy: F Ion, F Nap, A Tun, A Ven Russia: F Sev, F GoB, A Gal, A Rum, A War Turkey: F Ank, F Smy, A Bul, A Con *************** GM Notes: Once again, thanks to everyone for getting orders in on time.
