New game of GALACTIC BLOODSHED STARTING!!! From: crawford@spot.Colorado.EDU (The Wizzar) Date: Sun, 17 Feb 1991 23:49:23 +0000 A new game of Galactic Bloodshed is starting at spot.colorado.edu. To sign up send your e-mail address and your preferred password to crawford@spot.colorado.edu. You will then be confirmed and your personal race preferences questioned. For those underprivilaged few who have never played (or perhaps never heard!! ) of Galactic Bloodshed, here is a quick overview. Galactic Bloodshed is a multi-user game run in much the same way as tinytalk or MUDS. Up to 30+ people may be playing at one time. To play you must have a Unix-based account and have the client (see below). Each player takes control of a race of beings, most of them quite different. The game starts with each player controlling one sector on one planet, with the minimum number of beings required to reproduce. The final objective of the game is to have complete control over x number of planets. Of course your opponents will be trying to do this also. :) The best way to get an idea for this game is to simply try it out! If you have a Galactic Bloodshed client running that you have access to simply port to spot.colorado.edu 2010 and login as either guest or guest1. Experiment with commands. Most helpful will probably be 'help'. If you do not have a client but would like one, mail to: crawford@spot.colorado.edu Subject: client In other words, make client the only word in your subject line. This will trigger a feature of my account which will mail you the gbII ( written by ekoffler@du.edu ) client, in shar format. To un "shar" it simply save it as a file, strip off the mail header, and type sh <filename>. PLEASE NOTE that the words "Client" or "CLIENT" will not trigger this! Once the program is unsharred simply type 'make' in the directory with all the client code. If you for some reason have problems with this feel free to mail me and ask for help. If you also wish the docs, as written by writer Garrett van Cleef, mail in a similar manner to: crawford@spot.colorado.edu Subject: docs This will mail you the documentation for Galactic Bloodshed, but as I said the best way to learn GB is just to wade in and get wet. :) The game will be starting hopefully Saturday the 23rd, ay noon, MST. Please sign up! You will not regret you did! In case you are worrying about the time it takes to play the game, a game can be played with only a few minutes dedication per day. Your race will live on even if you dont EVER log in, and will in fact multiply and be fruitful, but dont expect to win this way. :) Hurry! When I run out of space thaz it, though I can put you on a waiting list. Steve Crawford crawford@spot.colorado.edu Up
