PETERSBURG CHRONICLE: Responding to growing tensions in the Balkans and elsewhere on the continent, The Czar today withdrew its Ambassador from Vienna. Ambassador Charnesky was ordered to proceed with all alacrity to Turkey, where he is expected to attempt a negotiation towards mutual cooperation between our two great nations. In other news, Ambassador Tolropov's last message from Berlin is being reviewed by the Czar and his ministers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zurich (AP) --- With the increased tensions in Europe, it is interesting to note the Austrian paradox of being surrounded by potential enemies and yet close to a wealth of resources. She would be wise to proceed with great caution and to watch her flanks and rear. The French are likely to be in the thick of things but have great opportunities for expansion to both the north and east. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Le Monde, Paris Concerns about the sudden outbreak of anarchist terror attacks in Spain and Portugal in the recent months has prompted the ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs to to offer a stabilizing military presence in the Iberian Peninsula. When asked if such a move was advisable considering the mounting tensions in the rest of the world, a senior minister replied "Even in these uncertain times, everyone would hope that the cool heads of reason will prevail and that all territorial disputes will be resolved peacefully". Elsewhere, the public information officer for the Paris Home Guard announced that annual spring training maneuvers will take place as scheduled. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Winter 1900 THE LONDON TIMES GREAT BRITAIN WANTS TO PRESERVE PEACE IN EUROPE LONDON - Prime minister John Edwards announced negotiations with all European powers this winter. "I'll send foreign minister Tom Strange to France as well as to Germany. He'll inform both governments about the peaceful intentions of the British nation. We want to make sure that the English Channel is kept free of fleets, since neither we nor the French need to be there. If, however, France makes the mistake to enter the Channel, Great Britain will know where its enemies are and will strike back merciless. But I certainly hope it doesn't come that far." Concerning Germany Mr. Edwards mentioned his will to cooperate as good as possible. FOREIGN MINISTER RAISES BELGIAN QUESTION London - Tom Strange, the foreign minister, opened the discussion about Belgium in a speech he gave yesterday. "Great Britain is surely interested in protecting Belgium, be it with own forces or be it with those of friends. We await the thoughts of the other states on this question." UPRISE IN NORWAY LEADS INTO CHAOS Edinburgh - Rumors about uprises in Oslo have been confirmed yesterday. As it seems the Norwegian king has been severly wounded during an attempt to assassinate him. Naval minister Mike Pirate announced a "strong presence of British naval forces in the area to protect our interests." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vienna Free Press: In these times of increasing militarization in the European community, the heir of the Hapsburg empire in Austria-Hungary embodied in the Emperor vonFreund has redoubled his efforts to make his empire's diplomatic goals clear and continue its moderating influence on the continent. Toward these ends, foreign minister Aehrenthal announced earlier this week that a letter of friendship had been sent to Moscow. Aehrenthal reported that the letter proposed close cooperation between Russian and Austrian forces; especially in the Balkan territories. The foreign minister stressed that any such pact would heavily depend upon a mutual respect of each country's present borders -- particularly regarding Galicia, Warsaw and the Ukraine. Emissaries have also been sent to Turkey to discuss the admin- istration of the Balkan territories as part of the continued effort to restore order to that troubled area. Before departure, the envoys revealed that they have been instructed to offer the deployment of Austrian troops to Serbia and eventually to Greece to secure the region in a hope that Turkish troops will be able to be deployed elsewhere. Foreign minister Aehrenthal has expressed his hope that a mutually acceptable governance of the Balkans will be arrived at through swift and intensive negotiations. In another press conference earlier this week, foreign minister Aehrenthal expressed Austria-Hungary's best wishes toward our fraternal brothers in Germany. Aehrenthral said, "It is our most sincere hope that we will be able to maintain complete neutrality and establish a firm non-aggression pact with the German nation at the very least." He went on to say that he would ideally like to see the two countries act in unison, especially if a common alliance with Russia was involved. Other statements from the foreign ministry obviously directed to the Italian government made clear that any unprovoked moves against Austrian territories (especially the provinces of Tyrolia and Trieste) would be met with swift and resolute actions. High ranking military officials also said that as long as the Italians respect our present borders and do not obstruct shipping in the Adriatic they can rest assured that absolutely no assaults will be initiated on their terri- tories from either Tyrolia or Trieste and that Austrian fleets will not deploy to the Adriatic Sea. Finally, the Austrian emperor himself told reporters that he expected cordial relations with the French and British would continue and hoped that those powers and Austrian diplomatic envoys could work in concert toward common goals in Europe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zurich: Stalled talks with Austrian officials about border adjustments between the provinces of Munich, Bohemia and Silesia were adjourned early this week for a two month break. Negotiators are deadlocked over the issue of the amount of compensation to pay the Austrian government to repatriate lands lost under treaty in the early 1700's. Observers note that both side may be holding a hardline in light of similar negotiations scheduled to take place between each country and Russian provinces late next year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Constantinople: In an open letter to his neighbors, the Sultan expressed his wishes for friendly relations. While he sadly admitted that he might be forced to choose sides, he would prefer to maintain friendly relations across as many of his borders as possible. He suggested to the Dual Monarch that responsibility for the Balkans be shared, with Austria controlling Serbia and Rumania, and Turkey managing the states bordering the Aegean. This plan would maintain the balance of power in that area, hopefully leading to a long-term peaceful solution. He also extended an olive branch to the Italian King, expressing his wishes that the Fleet Admiral visit Smyrna in peace, rather than at the head of an invading fleet. He hoped that the early troop movements would reflect a similar desire for cooperation. Finally, he promised to keep his forces out of the Black Sea and Armenia, and hoped that the Tsar would reciprocate. He expressed his fears that an early conflict would cripple both the war efforts of both countries, and hoped for a long-term friendship. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ GM NOTES: Sorry for the delay on my end. The tense situation could quickly expand into a major conflict. The American government hopes that the French forces will head elsewhere after their unopposed move into the Iberian Peninsula. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <Paris> The Minister of Foreign Affairs announced today that France and England had reached an accord reguarding fleet movements In the Channel, "We see no need to further inflame the rising tensions in the world," stated Minister Robey Tantalus, "as long as our English neighbors observe the peace in the Channel, so too will, France.". When questioned about the status of the low countries, the Minister would only comment that he hoped that the situation there would be resolved with minimal conflict. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zurich (AP) --- Rumors of military buildups along the borders of Austria and Russia continue, despite firm denials from officials of both countries. Reports of Russian fleet manouvers in the Black Sea were also discounted and explained as preparations for a Grand Fleet Tour of Rumania at the request of Rumania's Ruler in light of obvious expansionist moves of bothe Austria and Turkey. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The King of Tunis stated today that Italian help was needed to stop rebel forces from creating chaos in the country. The Italian representatives stated that they were merely there to assiste in police action operations and to act as advisers. King John of Italy advised that his Generals put the armies on standby status as Europe appears to be on the brink of destruction. King John was quoted as saying "Armageddon is at hand, and we must all act and be judged by our actions." King John hopes to meet with the Dual Monarch in hopes of uniting their countries against a dangerous Europe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spring 1901 THE LONDON TIMES GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES PLANS TO SAVE BELGIUM FROM TERROR London - Official sources in the ministry of war have announced that England is going to free Belgium from the terror that currently frightens its inhabitants. The first Lord of the admirality Sir Buck Rogers has informed France that "by no means we are going to attack France, a nation as peace- loving and friendly as ours." He continued that "unluckily our only chance to go for Belgium has been to enter the Channel, however Her Majesties Fleet will leave the Channel as soon as possible! I hope our French friends note that our army has been sent to Yorkshire instead of Wales so our peaceful intentions towards France are clear." On the matter of Belgium, prime minister John Edwards has asked "all our friend on the continent, especially Germany and France, to help our army into Belgium. We will not forget any help we might get and future British actions will be based on that." NO RESULTS YET FROM FOREIGN MINISTER'S TOUR London - Up to now no results have been published from the mission that lead foreign minister Tom Strange through half of the continent. "He spoke with the German as well as with the French government, however no definite answers have arrived yet," a spokesman said. Unofficial sources claimed that "there were answers, however Mr. Strange didn't understand them as they were given in foreign languages." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Excerpts from Turkey Today - "Turkey's only national daily newspaper" INTERNATIONAL NEWS In a prepared statement, the Sultan conveyed his deep displeasure with the Austrian Emperor's stated intentions of occupying Greece in the very near future. "As a peaceful nation, we cannot help but fear this intrusion into an area which has traditionally been within the Turkish Empire's sphere on influence. We feel that the division of the Balkans along these lines is not a practical solution for our country. In addition, Turkish forces in Greece could not possibly threaten Austria's homeland." The Minister of Defense continued the news conference by pointing out that perhaps Austria would be wise to concern herself with her northern frontiers rather than over- stretching her reach southward. It was his opinion that she has much more significant threats from these quarters, especially in light of the German Kaiser's silence. In other news, the Sultan expressed his wishes for a peaceful resolution of the growing tensions surrounding Belgium. He feels that the delicate balance in Western Europe could easily be upset by excessive greed on the part of any of the involved countries. NATIONAL NEWS Citizens of southern Turkey voiced concern over the intentions of the Italian government. Fears of an invasion have begun as the world teeters on the brink of war. Government officials echoed this concern and stated that they would like some reassurances from Italy on this subject. An official from the State Department expressed his hopes that Turkish fears would not be realized and that Italy would not seek any expansion towards the east. SOCIETY In a festive gathering at the Russian embassy in Ankara, Turkish and Russian diplomats drank a toast to the continued friendship of their nations. Experts see the maintenance of the Black Sea as a neutral zone as the cornerstone to future cooperation. The Sultan is thought to be highly pleased by this positive turn of events but could not attend because of worries over the Austrian occupation of Greece. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vienna Free Press: FOREIGN MINISTRY SURPRISED AT RUSSIAN REBUFF Despite valiant efforts by foreign minister Aehrenthal and his staff, tensions between Austria-Hungary and Russia's diplomatic cadres have increased dramatically in light of the Czar's withdrawal of Mr. Charnesky from Vienna. A dissapointed Aehrenthal told reporters: "We may have seriously misread the political situation on our Eastern borders. Hopefully we will be able to avoid an unwanted war with our neighbors to the north east through 12th hour negotiations though we currently stand ready to defend our territorial boundaries." In the hopes that the withdrawal of the Russian ambassador was indeed a mis- calculation on the part of the Czar, the Austrian consulate in Moscow will remain open to facilitate a peaceful resolution to this crisis and a return to normally friendly relations between our two countries. EMISSARIES REPORT BREAKTHROUGHS WITH TURKS Diplomats dispatched to Constantinople earlier this year report that great strides have been made in assuring the stability of the Balkans due to the openess and candor of the Turkish negotiators. A mutually beneficial administration of that troubled region is said to be all but decided provided that Turkish support of Austrian forces in Rumania can be secured in exchange for the granting of exclusive rights to naval bases in Greece. Hopefully this agreement will be the basis of other cooperative and more far-reaching ventures with the Sultan. CONTINUED INTEREST IN FRIENDSHIP/NEUTRALITY WITH GERMANS In light of the potentially worsening relations with the Czar, Austrian negotiators are said to be eager to resume discussions with their German counterparts regarding the complete repatriation of all the territories ceded to Austria in the 1700's with the exception of Bohemia which "has grown close to the heart of the Austrian people," according to vonFreund. "We have no interest in seeing a repeat of the seven year war of 1740 but rather hope to see joint military exercises wherever they might be needed to deter a threat of invasion from non- german speaking nations into Prussia, Silesia and Galicia," he went on to say. Austrian military strategists see no need for military deployment on the part of either nation as long as relations between the two countries remain cordial. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GM NOTES: Here's the first turn! Summer press is due Tuesday morning. Cheers! -Valentine THE SUTHERLAND CONFLICT: Spring 1901 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no retreats PRESS: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Athens) UPI --- With Austrian and Turkish troop movements confirmed in the Balkan regions and rumors of an Italian fleet steaming across the Ionian Sea, residents began the task of laying in provisions for what may be a sustained siege as the great powers converge on the quiet state of Greece. Officails have decided to declair the country as a neutral state in hopes that the conflicting factions will observe Greece's sovereignty. However, it is generaly agreed that there is little chance that they will, after all, Greece lacks the natural defensive geography that Switzerland does and Grecian ports will be desired by most of the participants. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zurich (UPI) --- Toasts of friendship between Turkey and Russia in Ankara were cut short by the sound of gunfire in Armenia as officers of the Russian southern fleet assumed control of the region. Repre- sentatives of the Red Cross have not yet been able to confirm or deny reports of massive civilian casualties verging on genocide in the formerly Turkish province. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLASH!! DATELINE -- GENEVA Fears continue to grow that the US may be drawn into a war in Europe as it appears that a technical violation of the conerstone of a British/French alliance has already occurred. A British fleet assumed control of the English Channle and admiral Buck Rogers' explanation that it was necessary to allow supression of freedom fighters in Belgium was widely discounted by mediator Albert Markum who said, "I may have been kind of wrong about that Italian sneak attack thing but anyone can see that the Brits could have accomplished the same thing by convoying via the Norwegian Sea to Oslo." When asked if he felt a British sneak attack into France might happen he said, "I think that there really likely to do it - it's the path of least resistance and they're in position to deal a fatal blow." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Memo from the President of the United States From: The President To: James Hooper, Director of the C.I.A. Jimmy, are you sure? Somehow I can't understand this. Let's see. You're saying that the Ruskies, the Brits and the guys in Vienna are all getting together in an alliance? I understand the benefits they'd gain by isolating Germany and splitting the other countries apart from each other, but my question is: How will this effect the price of Schnitzel??? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zurich (UPI) --- Rumors of civil disorder in Germany have been denied by German sources lately. However they could not provide any explanations about the blatant lack of press from the power in the heart of Europe. At least four other European states are very interested in communication with Germany and may assume the worst if no response to their diplomatic activities is given. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (New York) There were rumors about a great Germano-Angloistic cooperation against their ancient common enemy, France. It was said that Germany and England have agreed upon splitting Belgium and the Netherlands between them. Even Italy is rumored to be involved by attacking Marseille. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WAR ERUPTS!!!! St. Petersburg (AP) Russian troops made a two pronged attack into foreign nations, apparently responding to expansionist moves by it's neighbors. The Warsaw imperial cavalry struck deep into the German heartland, threatened important german cities. Ambassador Chernesky stated from his renewed post in Vienna that: "The German move into Denmark made clear her intentions. We're making sure her expansionist agression doesn't outlast the winter." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SOUTHERN CONFLICT! Sevastopol Along the banks of the Black Sea, Sevastopol Fleet ships engaged in maneuvers along the Armenian shore. Moscow insiders say that the fleet admiral was responding on his own to reports of terror by the Turkish government against the Armenian populace. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EMERGING ALLIANCE? Warsaw (Reuters) Officials here are not discussing reports that Ambassador Charnesky has negotiated a Cooperation Agreement with officals in Vienna. Informed sources say that an agreement has been struck for Austria-Hungarian (Serbian) support for a proposed movement of the Ukraine army into Bulgaria to solidify resistance to Turkish Expansion. Charnesky's comment: "Such a move would certainly be in the interest of both of our nations, freeing troops from our inner border. But I can't comment on policy decisions." Foreign Minister Yodropov pointed to this Spring's movements into Germany and Turkey as evidence of Russian good-faith towards her Austria-Hungarian neighbor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summer 1901 THE LONDON TIMES BRITISH ARMY EXERCISES LANDING MANOEUVRES Yorkshire - General Nelson Shootem announced yesterday that his army is "ready and hot to cross the sea and bring peace and welfare to the poor Belgian people". Weather considerations caused a small delay in the plans but the liberation can take place in fall, an army spokesman said. "Unluckily the importance of the Belgian threat means that the poor Norwegian people will have to wait one more year for us to help them," foreign minister Tom Strange told the press, "but we advise all other countries to keep their troops out of Norway as it is a natural British job to help there!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FRENCH AMBASSADOR MEETS JOHN EDWARDS London - Maurice de Pipapo, the French ambassodor in London, had a long talk to prime minister John Edwards yesterday. The prime minister showed full understanding for the concerns of the French government and again promised that no hostile action towards France will be taken. "We will understand if Paris decides to protect Brest, but it surely is not necessary to protect it from us! Of course we'd like to see the French fleet protecting the French influence in the Mediterranean sea," Mr. Edwards announced. "Moreover, as no news from Germany made it to us yet, we would like to discuss a search patrol into the east together with our French friends. We were sort of suprised not to see any French army in Burgundy this spring." After the press conference our reporter picked up a worn sheet of paper with some unreadable code on it saying something like 'Arbur Arpor Flespasc or Arbre Arpor Flespasc?' which makes no sense even if read backwards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOREIGN MINISTER STILL TRYING TO CONTACT BERLIN London - According to official sources no contact could be established to Germany yet. "We'd like to know what's going on in Germany, but a strict press ban seems to include all diplomatic notes. Great Britain hopes that Germany will help to preserve neutrality in Sweden this year and will help the poor people in the Netherlands to live in peace again. However we do need a sign of life from Berlin - now!" Tom Strange said. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vienna Free Press: DIPLOMATIC TRIUMPH! WAR WITH RUSSIA AVERTED? Foreign minister Aehrenthal and his staff were clearly pleased that 12th hour negotiations with the Russian diplomatic corp appear to have successfully avoided the incursion of Russian troops into Austrian territory. In a bulletin released to the press Aehrenthal stated: "The Russians appear to be honoring the terms put forward in our earlier proposal of friendship and can expect our own forces now in Galicia to respect their territorial boundaries as well." He went on to caution though that "We have not gotten any verbal confirmation from Mr. Charnesky nor do we know his present whereabouts." Military advisors to Emperor vonFreund reiterated that incursions of Russian armies into Bohemia or Galicia would still be unequivocably interpretted as acts of war and hoped that an eventual deployment of Austrian forces to Rumania would not result in bloodshed but rather enhance our ability to interact cooperatively in future endeavors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EMPEROR vonFREUND AND KING JOHN TO MEET High level talks between the Austrian and Italian governments are expected to lead to a shift from neutrality to cooperation and close friendship between the two countries. A foreign ministry spokesman said, "Our countries have both acted and can be judged by our actions." Emperor vonFreund reportedly is interested in a division of power between the two militaries with Italian forces seeing to the maintenance of free shipping in the Mediterranean and its sea ports and Austrian armies being responsible for land actions. Toward that end he will reportedly put the Austrian fleet on standby alert so that it can be quickly put at the disposal of Italy's King John should an agreement be reached. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GERMAN SILENCE, TROOP MOVEMENTS TAKEN AS AGREEMENT TO NEUTRALITY Despite lack of communication from the Kaiser, Emperor vonFreund stated his support of German troop deployments to the north and said that he too would not bring bloodshed between our peoples by encroaching upon that country's current boundaries since the Kaiser appears to have embarked on a course of at least neutrality toward Austria-Hungary. vonFreund also reportedly empathized with the Kaiser regarding Russia's bold invasion of Silesia and hopes that that violation of the German homeland will not handicap its ability to expand into Holland and other rebellious northern territories. In a press conference the Emperor remarked: " We simply must wait to hear from the Russian and German ambassadors in Vienna before we can hope to become involved in a peaceful resolution of that affair." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOREIGN MINISTRY PRAISES FRENCH LIBERATION OF IBERIAN PENINSULA In an open letter to French foreign minister Robey Tantalus Austria-Hungary stated its support of French moves to restore order to Spain and Portugal. The letter also stressed that, while the government saw movement of the French fleet as playing an important supporting role in the action, the Emperor would prefer to not see a strong French naval presence in the Mediterranean complicate negotiations in that area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EMISSARIES STILL NEGOTIATING BALKAN SETTLEMENT WITH TURKEY Harsh words from the Sultan have not dampened the enthusiasm of emissaries in Turkey negotiating suitable deployment of troops to the Balkan states to restore order to the region. As the diplomats withdrew from Ankara to the safer confines of Constantinople they expressed the hope that both short- and long-term Turkish support of Austrian troops into Rumania will be secured in exchange for the surrendering of Hungarian rights to naval bases in Greece. Naturally, the negotiators expect the Sultan to keep his word regarding the presence of Turkish troops in Greece not being used in any manner that threatens Austria's homeland -- especially the recently annexed province of Serbia. The Emperor himself has reportedly instructed the negotiators to leave no stone unturned in their efforts toward reaching a mutually acceptable resolution of this increasingly complex issue as he believes such an agreement will still become the basis of other cooperative and more far-reaching ventures with the Sultan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <PARIS> - President D'vita expressed outrage at the English fleet movements into the Channel. "They can express all the wishes and proses of of peace they wish!" he exploded "But the proof of intentions are always demonstrated in action!". The Minister of Foreign Affairs later pointed out that France would find it hard to support the English movements into the low lands unless the Channel was cleared of all military traffic. The Minister also hinted that they may swing their support to the German intervention plan if relations continue to strain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REBELS BREACH TUNISIAN PALACE In late breaking Tunisian News, rebel forces took over portions of the Tunisian Royal Palace. Elements of the rebels also ransacked several embassies, among them the Italian and Austrian embassies. Forunately the embassadors, families and diplomatic workers were evacuated before the fighting took place. The Italian Embassador to Tunis is still unheard of and is believed to be held captive in the Royal Palace by rebel soldiers. King John was quoted as saying, "we will do everything in our power to take the Royal Palace from these usurpers of freedom." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FEAR FELT IN TURKEY Wide spread fear and anxiety has been seen in most of the population of Turkey as Italian military forces move through the Mediterranean. Cabinet Minister D'Angelo stated firmly that "our friend in Turkey have nothing to fear, our units in the area are staging a major invasion of Tunis to free the inhabitants from those damned rebels." Units seen in the operation consisted of the 57th Imperial Heavy Marines and the 12th Royal Fleet. Other units are standing by to support them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROMANA HOME GUARD STAGE AN EXHIBITION IN VENICE The Romana Home Guard opened to the public the late breaking weapon systems invented by Italy and employed by this elite force of soldiers. Among them were a prototype of a machine gun that was able to fire over 200 rounds in a minute and a weapon that was able to project a cone of flame from a hose and tank. Other achievements were gas masks, filtration units to prevent nausious as well as potentially life threatening gases from endangering the soldiers. Blueprints of mechanized fighting machines such as the tank and aeroplane were also showcased. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ITALIAN EMBASSADORS GO OUT IN SEARCH OF PEACE The Italian Embassdaor made plans to visit Austria today in hopes of making a pact of common interest with our eastern neighbors. This pact according to the embassador includes items such as non-agression between the two countries and calls for mutual defense in the case that one of our soverign nations is attacked. Wether or not the monarchy of Austria will concede to this plan is unknown at this time. Embassador Bonacelli arrived in Germany yetserday in hopes of inspiring mutually beneficial accords with this nation that has long been silent to its southern neighbor, Italy. Bonacelli hopes to accomplish the same basic deals with Austria, being that of non-agression and mutual defense. The Italian embassador to Turkey was shot and wounded by the Turkish Naval Authority who thought he was an Austrian spy. Just as he was entering the port in Greece, a naval shell from a 85 mm canon blew up the front of the boat sending debris and people into the Mediterranean. Luckily fishermen in the vaccinity were able to rescue the embassador and his entorage before anyone drowned. The Italian embassador hopes that the officer who fired the gun will be severly reprimanded. This incident has obviously angered the embassador and may hamper negotiations between the two countries. Prince Guiseppe toured the war battered Iberian peninsula earlier this week in order to assess the damage done by chaotic, loyalist forces and those done by the French backed rebels and the Franco advisers. Much carnage was wrought as both civilian and military targets were hit and severly devastated. Deaths have reached the thousands and the body count seems to escalate with everyday. Prince Guiseppe later hopes to arrive in Paris in order to mette out a deal that will promise non-agression between France and Italy. The Twin Princesses have departed on their separate ways in order to establish diplomatic ties with both England and Russia. Their estimated times of arrival will be within early Fall and will last until the end of Fall when they return to Rome. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Munich (AP) Kaiser of re-unified Germany seems to be getting upset, as the Summer seems to change slowly into Autumn. "Yaa, tis no good" he said today at a morning press conference organized nearby his favourite bordello. Of course the Kaiser was referring to awkward movements of French and Soviet armies. "Commie raus!" he screamed later, mentioning inevitable retaliation for the Soviet SCUD attack into Silesia, where the most important coal mines are situated. Beside that, the Kaiser, fondling one of the service girls, promised that he might even "Join daa forses, wizz the evil himsel. Vee vil fight alongside Austrians, vee ave too get rid of filth of communism". The next possible threat to the Great German Empire, seems to be coming around from the filthy frog eaters. He mentioned that if such evil attacks against peace loving Germans will escalate even further, he might certainly call up the axian powers into a three day conference. That would certainly include Germans, Austrians, Italians, and Allah permits the Brits would, too be able to join in for the Jihad against French, Russkies, Yanks and Turks. "Tis vay, daa zpiritt of Fenix, vill allov us destroy daa scumm of Europe, ha!" Special hopes were directed toward a born-again holy Roman Empire that would consist of Italy, Germany and Austria. Of course, the greatest strength of the alliance would lie in the strategic position of all three countries: apparently, when in a union all countries would be fighting outwards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GM NOTES: Thanks for all the great press, especially from those of you for whom English is not their native language! Please pardon any spelling errors. I didn't have time to go through and fix all of them. Fall 1901 orders are due Friday, if possible. Cheers! Lord Valentine =============================================================================== Results from REPUBLIC =============================================================================== Well, I've finally heard from Turkey. He has dropped out. I now (after a month-long delay when I heard nothing from him) have to delay the game just long enough to find a replacement player. I'll let you know hoe it goes.
