It's good news for those of us who went to high school back when the schools were supposed to be better, because we can feel superior to today's students. When we go to shopping malls and see batches of teenagers standing around and laughing in a carefree teenaged manner, we can reassure ourselves by saying: "Those kids may be attractive and slim and healthy, and they may have their entire lives ahead of them and no gum problems whatsoever, but by God they never learned how to conjugate the verb 'to squat' in Latin, the way I had to when I was in school." -- Dave Barry, "Basic Frog Glop" *************** Austria (Tom Goodwin)......Build A Vie, A Tri England (Bruce Beutel).....Build A Lon France (Brad Gillette).....Build F Mar, F Bre Italy (Stewart Winter).....Build F Nap Russia (Ted Fischer).......Disband F Bla, F Arm Notes: () indicate bounced moves. Looks like things are clicking again; everyone is getting the moves in on time. While I'm here, I'm going to do a quick run-through of the draw rules: Draws may be proposed at any time, and they will be voted on in the following season. To propose a draw vote, simply tell me you want one and tell me which player(s) are to be proposed as the victor(s). Any draw votes which are proposed will be mentioned in the GM Notes section of the results, and votes will be requested. Draw votes must be unanimous to pass, and only countries with units on the board may vote. No Vote Received = YES according to the house rules, so be sure to vote if a draw is proposed. Statistics for the game so far will follow in the next mailing, and the Spring 1904 deadline is one week from today, or Wednesday, April 17th, at 1 pm PDT with the usual 48 and 24 hour deadline notices for those who haven't gotten turns in. If anyone has a problem with this date, please let me know ASAP. ------------------------------------------------- Game Summary of Blitzkrieg II (EP #100) GM = Doug Ingram Fall 1900 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 Place Player of Record Austria 3 5 5 7 Tom Goodwin England 3 5 8 9 Bruce Beutel France 3 5 5 7 Brad Gillette Germany 3 5 2 0 Tim Moore Italy 3 4 4 5 Stewart Winter Russia 4 5 6 4 Ted Fischer Turkey 3 4 4 2 Mattias Olofsson Mahler 00 02 23 42 Index Note: The Mahler Index (read #'s as percentages) is an index which gives a rough estimate of the percentage of the game completed. It is figured according to the formula given below, and it is supposedly a good figure which shows how "advanced" the game is toward a single-player victory (since it doesn't take alliances into account). Variance = Sum of SC's held squared - (Total SC's held squared / 7) Std.Dev. = Square root (Variance / 7) Mahler Index = (Std.Dev. - 0.35) / 0.06 Status: Current turn is Winter 1903 ------ Historical summary of supply center ownership: P S B M P B H L L E N D S K B M S W M S T N R V T V B R S G B C S A o p r a a e o i o d o e w i e u t a o e u a o e r i u u e r u o m n r a e r r l l v n i r n e e r n . r s v n p m n i e d m r e l n y k t i s s i g l e d n w m d l l i P s c a i l e i e n a a b e g s r a u n t e s i a r o b a a e . i c e a o s s e . c s n p n i c a t n r g . . i . u n p n o y r n . n h t w w t . s . e t a e i a e r a a a a . . l . m d o . r . k . . . . e . . o . . . . e . s a . . i n . .
