I (sigh....) hope that you will all (sigh.......) understand (sigh.....) that I will not have the energy (sigh...) to think about any original (sigh.....) moves and therefore (sigh......) Sleepy Harri ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Berlin: Kaiser JP has complimented our neighbours with their friendly gestures towards our nation this season. We hope to continue our so far fruitful cooperation with all our friends in Europe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tilburg, Kiel, Ruhr and Denmark: Teun is gek! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Tsar wishes to apologize for his inability to conduct diplomatic relations with several envoys, and attributes his silence to an increase in duties in the business community. When the situation has settled he will be better able to conduct meaningful and mutually beneficial negotiations. In the meantime, he assures those envoys who have approached him that their words were heard and given the fullest consideration. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GM Notes: 1) Obviously, no retreats are necessary. Fall 1901 orders will be due at 1 p.m. (CST) (That's 19:00 GMT) on Mon. Feb. 18, 1991. 2) If you find any errors in my results, let me know as soon as possible. It is beleived that this civil war is being financed by the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. It is our firm hope that peace can be restored to this country in the near future. A request for military training was also made. After the liberation of Greece has been completed, troops will be stationed there to conduct training exercises for the government. Austria-Hungary will pursue every avenue to deliver on these requests. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The French take Munich!!! Ever benevolent and popular president Zjeff has led his people to victory once again. Yesterday, he announced that his army of the people have taken the german city of munich and now control it, despite German views to the contrary. The powerful army of farmers, schoolchildren, and insurance salesmen have set up permanent base in the extensive sewer system of Munich. When the French General in command of the troops was asked if his troops were in control, he responded, "The Krauts might think they're in control, but we'll see who is in control when every toilet in Munich backs up!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Constantinople (AP/Reuter): The Constantinople Courier is unable to produce a regular issue in the Fall 1901 due to a celebration the reporters took part in and the culmination of which was on Thursday. A total of thousands were performing these rites, which included driving around in the downtown on the back of a lorry decorated for this purpose, throwing candy to little kids, singing songs to those who had been guiding the people for 12 years and getting drunk. There is an unconfirmed rumor that the Sultan of Turkey would have been taking part in the celebration; the CC has not been able to reach his Excellency to confirm this rumor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Tsar sent out numerous envoys in the Summer of 1901 in an effort to assure everyone that his diplomatic forces are in fact quite operable. Many constructive talks were achieved, and it is hoped that the channels of communication will remain as open and productive as in 1901. Rumors of a shipbuilders strike in St. Petersburg persited, but the Tsar assures all parties that it will have no effect on his ability to remain an effective and helpful force in Scandinavia. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GM Notes: 1) There are no retreats. Winter 1901 (builds) will be due at 11 p.m. (CST) on Thursday February 21. 2) I'm going to be out of town this weekend (roughly Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon) so I won't be able to respond to anything you send me during that time until I get back. 3) Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for being on time. Since I'll be out of town over the weekend, it's very important that everyone get their builds in on time. (And if they're in early, that's even better.) Also, I'll send a confirmation when I receive orders from anyone. 3) I was heading north in Wisconsin this weekend, when I saw an exit for Kiel. Carroll Spring 1902 "All the news we can get our hands on" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Tsar wishes to thank everyone for their constructive comments, as Spring '02 marks the first year in which the Tsar has actually communicated with all of the other countries, several of which actually greeted the Tsar's envoys in a timely and helpful manner. The Tsar wishes to apologize to those countries which received envoys who were not as well informed as some others, however, and expresses a sincere wish that the envoy sent to France will become sober enough to return to Russia in the near future. The tragic failure of crops in the Ukraine have forced the Tsar to liberate farms in more fertile regions. Also, the Swedish fishing industry has turned out to be a dismal experiment, and so the Tsar is abandoning it for warmer waters. Recent experiments by Russian scientists have led the Tsar to believe that his army teleporter should be ready by next fall. Some sample moves this would allow would be A-StP-Edinburgh, F-Sev-Spain, and A-War-Paris. Future discussions with the Prime Minister and the President of France are planned for the advent of the device. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Munich: German units have gathered around the French border for the decisive attack against the inferior people in the west. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GM Notes: 1) There are no retreats. Fall 1902 orders are due at 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, March 12, 1991. 2) I thought our e-mail problems were through. How silly of me. Jeff (France) hasn't been able to get anything out for awhile, although my letters are apparently getting through to him. I called him by phone him and got his orders that way. He's working on the problem. ((Filled in above.)) 4) I enjoyed GM'ing this game. Thanks. Yorktown GM, Chuck Carroll Publisher comments: Quote is from Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, commander of the allied forces, on Iraq's claim of victory in taking a Saudi village south of Kuwait. In EP #230, I misquoted Gen. Colin Powell. The correct quote is "Our strategy to go after this army is very, very simple. First, we're going to cut it off, and then we're going to kill it.'' By the way, I could use some non war related quotes, does anyone have any Stooge quotes? ****************************************************************************** To join in the fun, send your name, home address, home and work phone numbers, and country preferences to Eric_S_Klien@cup.portal.com. ****************************************************************************** Up
