A balance that was made to supremely keep neither good nor evil from gaining total control in the world. The good, Harmony, and the evil, Chaos, have always lived by that one basic rule of balance. Sure, fights had broken out over the millenniums between the two, but ultimately, balance is always restored. Why, you might ask? Simple. At the beginning of time, when the rule of balance was made, there came many complications with it as well. Who controls the balance? How will we balance out each side? Do we give the control to Harmony or Chaos? Or neither? The gods counseled amongst themselves for decades, trying to decide (those decades are now referred to as the 'Dark Ages' where Chaos hadn't been balanced yet). Finally they came to a decision. Chaos bore a child along with Harmony, each being created unto the world to represent the balance. And in each child's care was placed amulets. Chaos's and Harmony's children were made into the Guardians of the Balance. And not only did they carry their own amulets of Chaos and Harmony, but also the amulets of the Sins and Virtues which fell underneath each of the two ruling elements. The amulets had been kept, for eons, in a chamber on a stone dias where no one, not even the gods themselve, can find but the Guardians can. That is where the Guardians spent their whole lives, living in those chambers, guarding over the amulets with their lives. But then something happened. An accident, something that they should have never allowed, and now the amulets are gone. The only ones that still remain the Guardians' possessions are their ruling amulets, Chaos and Harmony. If the amulets are not returned to the chamber and placed back in their respective holding spots on the stone dias, the world will eternally fall into misery and war. The Gods would be furious this happened, if they found out, and would continuously threaten to try and destroy the Guardians. So now they're determined to get the amulets back...but there is one catch. Neither Chaos nor Harmony's keepers can touch the other amulets, save for their own. So now they must enlist the help of the ones who can, but to do that, they need to find people born of both Sin and Virtue. A sort of 'pure' Sin and Virtue where they only have but one of both engrained into their makes. But where, oh where, do they find them? Each race that was created in the beginning of time was born with many Sins and Virtues mixed together. Elves took more of the Pride Sin than most would expect but retained some Envy, Orcs favoring the Wrath while also getting Gluttony, while Gnomes and Dwarves took on Greed as well as Sloth, and so on and so forth. Virtues were deposited throughout each race wherever it was seen fit. So finding the seven people who were born of only one Sin and Virtue had been a hard task. It took the Guardians years before they finally were able to scry out the right people. Now that they've found them, and with the Gods finally starting to get uneasy, they'll need to hurry and gather the fourteen amulets before the world goes dark.
