Re: Paranoia LIVE!! From: awmurray@eos.ncsu.edu (ALAN WAYNE MURRAY) Date: Mon, 13 May 1991 19:43:36 +0000 Idea 1): Terminals would be *very* nice. But instead of just having a terminal with a screen (boring) output, you might think about some type of (hidden?) megaphones. That way you could blast the guy into next week...and everyone can HEAR The Computer call for the termination of citizen X. If it is being played as an "actual" Paranoia adventure, will the players have to receive any type of orders from The Computer? If so, most (if not all) of any useful information should be totally concealed by static (on a PA system) or garbage characters on screen. For example: "Citizen Lase-R-BAT, please report to Briefing Room <zzt...screeeeeechhh...zap pow....> and please stop by <errrreeeeech...zzzzkapowww> and pick up 100 <rrrr. ...cccchhhhhreeeeeeechchhh...>. Please hurry! It is of utmost importance that this be done IMMEDIATELY. Walk in a straight line. Do not touch anyone else. Keep your laser in your holster. Thank you for your cooperation." Idea 2): Make the players wear clothes of their clearance (just like the real game). All area of play should be security coded. For example, run red tape about shoulder length down a hall to signify that its clearance is red. Of course it's treason to walk down a hall of greater clearance than oneself...so make sure that it's nearly (or is) impossible to go *anywhere* without going down a ludicrously high clearance corridor (say Blue or Green). Of course this is assuming you are using hallways/corridors. This would not really work if you just have rooms... Idea 3): Try to find some sort of cameras (fake or otherwise) and put them all around. Enhances the feeling of Paranoia. Who knows, maybe you can record some of it... That's all for now...just some immediate thoughts. Maybe someone could expand on these... awmurray@eos.ncsu.edu Up
