Questions about 3D graphics in PBeMs From: JJJ101@psuvm.psu.edu Date: Thu, 30 May 1991 15:33:58 +0000 For at least another year (while I have this particular job) I have a license to use AXUM, an engineering graphics software package. In particular, AXUM can do nice 3D contour plots and has its own built in programing language. (very close to C++)This gives me an idea for a generic combat PBeM: Players send me information. I use AXUM to generate 3D VGA contour plots and export image files. I send these image files back to the players who download them to an IBM PC and use any image viewer to view these. Also, I could use AXUM's progaming language to determine the best viewing angle before generating the plot. Easily I could zoom out and send a second image file that showed more area with less detail. etc...etc... Since I'm using a PC anyway, I might as well generate .EXE files which displays (in text) the players options and status. They players could figure out their actions for their next turn and the .EXE file could generate a data file ready for uploading. (I own lincensed software to easily accomplish this.) Up
