Italy must disband one unit. ---------- There were no retreats (both dislodged units were disbanded), so there's no non-press activity for the Autumn. Since there should officially be no diplomacy before winter adjustments, I propose that we proceed directly to WINTER 1906. If there is strong opposition to skipping the Autumn, then we'll go ahead and have it. The deadline will be TUESDAY, MAY 21. ******************************************************* The Kaiser congratulates the Sultan on the successful completion of school. He is hismelf too dazed from the crush of finals to be particularly verbose for the time being. (the real) Fall 1906 THE PAPAL BULL 250 Lira "All the Propaganda we Deem fit to Print" Japanese Kamikaze Oriental Rug Pilots to Train Italians Athens (IPS) - The Italian High Command has sent envoys to Japan to recruit Kamikazes to join the Italian Navy for 'special exercises' off of the coast of Turkey. When asked to explain this move, the Italian high command explained that things at the front look rather badly, but that if Italy is going down, it will take the hated Turks with her as well. This is where the Kamikazes enter the picture. They will be used to train the Italians how to attack Turkey with wild abandon and little regard for their own safety or that of their homeland. Unfortunately, the problem so far had been finding experienced Kamikaze pilots. There just aren't that many with very much flight time. Final Assault on Turkey Planned Free Cyprus (IPS) - Admiral JC announced that the final assault on Turkey would begin in the Spring of 1907, and that Turkey would be crushed. However, the attack is currently on hold while the Eastern Fleets continue mop up operations of Turkish barrel subs. "It will be glorious" declared the Admirial, who was busy drilling the Royal Italian Marines in Albania. "We will crush them" Envoy Sent to Russia Rome (VD) - Ambassador Machiavelli has been ordered to Moscow on a top secret mission, which is rumored to be a request for joint opperations against the Turks. Although right now all government officials deny it, there are rumors that the Italians may abandon the high Balkans to fall back on more defensible positions, and end their two year old war with the russians if the Russians promise their aid in Asia Minor. The Russian fleet is already in position, and Turkey could conceviably fall within a year, if only the Russians will help. Papal Talks Go Well Rome (VD) - Pope Sadis the First's talks with king Louis LXXIV are reported to have gone very well. In addition to renewing the already five and one half year friendship, concessions on skiing rights and wine production were also made. Wine consumption has risen considerably in the last two years following numerous French and Italian victories. Fall 1906 LE PARISIEN The King is dead, long live the King! Paris - King Louis LXXIV. "The Peaceful" is dead! On His peace mission he was shot by a German private when He tried to talk his message of peace and understanding to the German troops at the river Rhine. "So this fair hero of the French nation has been killed by a noname person! These Germans really do not appreciate the kindness and will for peace of my peaceful father." the king's son, prince Louis, said. "It's no help to the French nation that a French commando killed that German soldier immeadiatly after the barbaric murder, btw. the soldier's name was 'Detlev Dumpfbacke', which shows all about Germany." Only two days after these news made it to Paris prince Louis was crowned the new king of Greater France. Officials from Portugal, Spain, England, Scotland and Wales renewed their bindings to the French empire with the new king, who will be Louis LXXV. from now on. The young king announced that "Germany will have to pay for this kind of aggression! I ordered the French troops to give Haenschen "Unflott" Wicklung a real chance to build the second fleet he wants so much by disbanding his Belgian army." Belgium free again? Paris - Hercule Poirot, leader in exile of the French speaking majority in Belgium, has announced his return to his home "shortly after the liberation of Brussels". Uprise in Belgium is expected to support the French troops storming the German defense positions. Istanbul (UPI): "The head of OIL accused the Supreme Naval Commander of incompetence and called for his resignation. `The naval commander has demonstrated that he can maintain our long range defenses by preventing the Papists from sending reinforcements this year. Nevertheless, he has grossly neglected our home waters. The Papist attack on Cyprus could've been easily prevented especially after we had been giving notice for over four years now. We urge the Sultan to raise an army at the soonest possible.' The Naval Command had no comment as they are currently defending the new HQ at Cyprus and finishing the clean-up job at Smyrna." Damasq (AP): "Eleventh hour presentations continue in full just in case the Papists attempt an amphibious landing on the outskirts of the empire. Sentries on the coast reported seeing the HPS Lepanto hovering off shore scouting the region. The lack of an army has made this task more difficult, however, many of the earthworks from 1901 still remain, and the local populace has formed a minutemen militia to compensate." Pergamum (MUM): "The Mamluk resistance officially absolves itself from any connection with the Italian leadership. We maintain responsibility for the attack on Smyrna and, in fact, are quite proud of it. However, we deny any complicity with those accursed Christian states. Just because those misguided leaders to the west are fighting the oppressor does not mean we are allied with them. We remain dedicated to the downfall of Christianity as a whole, and we will not be caught asking for help from the evilest of all states, Italy."
