Monster Island: What is it? From: warden@triton.unm.edu (Scott Micheel) Date: Tue, 25 Jun 1991 05:25:40 +0000 For those of you who wonder what Monster Island is, it is a pbm game run by Adventures by Mail, the same folks who do It's A Crime and other pbms. It is the single largest pbm in the world, with a capacity for 15,000 players at one time. (Last figure I saw was only 650, but it's a relativly new game.) Each player runs a Monster -- kind of like an Orc or other humanoid; one of seven different monster races. You wash up on the shore of an island, bigger than Australia, and try to survive, get big & powerful, and generally act monsterish. AbM will send you the rules and a setup *free*. The results are always laser-printed with map graphics. Turn fees are $4.00, no extra charges. You can run a turn once every 8 business days (a game week) or may play slower if you like. You can even run up to 5 different Monsters. If you are interested, send a note to Adventures By Mail, PO Box 436 Cohoes NY 12047 Referenced By Up
