I am now a Harvard man no more! Alas--not! The big question before us now is this: will you allow Paul to postpone the game until July 7? He is apparently taking a vacation. It would seem the nice thing to do, and anyway getting a replacement might take just as long. Again I am sorry about the delay, especially with him leaving tomorrow, but I would like to hear what you all think. Further, I have not yet heard from turkey, so this makes me loath to set a date yet for the winter turn. Provisionally, let us say the move will be due at 1730 EDT Monday, June 17. I admit now that I have done them at high speed so there is a reasonable chance of error. Feel free to query anything you think may be wrong. Build orders are due on Monday. Rankings are: Russia France, Germany, Austria England, Italy, Turkey All countries on the same line have the same number of centres. Russia has the most centres; E, I and T have the least. Michael Date: Fri, 14 Jun 91 08:40:30 +1200 As promised: Brusilov Offensive press file for Autumn 1902 The Pope unveilled his plans for the return to glory of the Roman Catholic Church. He called on all Christian nations to attack and destroy Turkey. "The Holy Land", screamed the Pope, "is ruled by INFIDELS!! We must regain control of the birthplace of our Lord. I implore all good Christians to aid in the return of the Holy Lands to the Church." The Pope also implored all Christians to return to Catholicism, as the true path of the Lord, Jesus Christ. (LONDON) King Magnus II of the United Kingdom of Great Brittain AND Northern Ireland has declared war on Russia this morning. He called on all major powers in Europe to stop the communist spread as soon as possible. He furthermore stressed the necessity to kill the German cancer before it has time to grow; it seems that some major European powers, among others France, have already promised support for this matter. (Innsbruck, fall 1901) The training Italian forces in the Italian part of Tyrolia, have been called home, to protect their homeland against possible intruders from the West. (Paris, fall 1901) When Le President was asked to the invasion of Spain and Portugal by French forces, he couldn't give a satisfying explanation. England has asked the World Powers to condem this French action, and said the English troops are prepared to make an end to this injustice. There has been some misleading news in the press lately. Howewer, none of what it says is true, Her Majesty's government has so far given NO comments about the present situation in Europe. So, to avoid further rumours, the Foreign Office has released the following statement: Today, we have a state of upcoming war on our hands. Already, the Norwegian people have expressed their worry, and requested the aid of the English armed forces. Also, Belgium, a province always geared towards England is getting anxious to see English military protecting the civilians from foreign troops. Therefore, the Royal Navy has arranged shipping of garrisons to these two countries. This, however, is only a precaution to protect Her Majesty's interests on the continent, and should not be seen as a build-up for any offensive against our Neighbours, with whom we wish to keep friendly contacts, allowing our industry to prosper. On behalf of her Majesty, Minister of Foreig Affairs, George Not'o'Longfellow. ===============================================Press file ends====== Michael Date: Fri, 14 Jun 91 08:32:44 +1200 Yes there is press for this turn: I am about to compile it and send it all out. Also, to answer some questions there will be a further report from your units and spies after the build turn, because there could well be new units for you to spot. So, don't worry, your information networks will keep you informed as well as they can. Michael Date: Mon, 17 Jun 91 14:16:10 +1200 Dear all, I still need build orders from Turkey and France. Anand and Larry please get these to me as soon as possible. I have orders from everyone else, and have no fear you will all get reports as to what your spies will see as a result of any building that does happen. Somone has mentioned that they thought five days for builds was too long a time. In your next message to me I would be interested to hear from you on this matter. If the consensus is that this may be too long I would be happy to shorten it somewhat. Certainly, I wouldn't like to take this long for retreats as well. Incidentally, there have been no retreats so far, but I am not sure that you will necessarily need to know even if there have been retreats so I will attempt to schedule things so that only those people who have retreats will need to know about it. Hopefully this will mean that the retreats phase will be completely invisible for those powers who don't have intelligence about a particular region. Michael Date: Tue, 18 Jun 91 11:52:10 +1200 Thank you all, the orders for Winter 1901 are in, and I am just about to fix them up into some Winter results. Expect them soon. Michael Date: Tue, 18 Jun 91 12:37:31 +1200 Well, that wasn't too hard, all the results are out and I am reasonably confident that they are (at least close to) error free. The people who I have had mail from so far suggest that two to three days might be a better deadline for builds. Violently disagree? Please let me know. The deadline for Spring 1902 is next Tuesday 0:00 GMT. For most of you this translates into Monday night at some stage, (it's lunchtime for me), but it's close to a week and that seems fair enough. Michael Date: Tue, 18 Jun 91 12:49:47 +1200 As follows: =============================================================== There was some mysterious press this fall, but as all initiated parties know, there is no such person as King Magnus II; Britian is still ruled by Her Majesty (God Save the Queen!) Also, no war has been declared so far. Especially not against any Russian communists. What is this? Russia is ruled by the Tsar Don of Russia. And he has a good grip on his country, and is not likely to submit his rulership to any other party. ===================================================================== Press ends. What's the plan? France: I've got the situation well in hand -- I'll collapse on the Italian army soon enough. Eastward ho! Germany: Keep up the good work. Do not become tiresome. Italy: Ready to be friends? Russia: I didn't support you this turn; I figured that the only way you could lose Moscow would be if you used Sev in an attack against me. You can count on A War S Mos H on any turn in which it is not obvious that Sev will be enough to support Moscow. Turkey: The only supply center I'll lose this year is Trieste, and it's obvious that I'll get it back. I would love to serve as a counterweight to the demonic, Fred Rogers-molesting, LA Lakers-worshipping Anglo-French alliance [tm], but how can I do so when you threaten my homeland? If you leave me along I shall be happy to redirect my armies to the northwest. But how can I justify these moves when I'm being attacked from the south and east? Please withdraw F Aeg; stick it in the Eastern Med and use it to bolster F Ion. I'll lose one fleet this year, and I won't be able to build a fleet after I occupy Trieste. That should be enough to make you happy. The Times: ========== E --> F Pas de probleme, monsieur. As I said, Germany had a choice of holding his centers or taking the North Sea. He's a goner, now - I presume that you took Kiel, and with my army now in Prussia (I presume) Berlin and Denmark will fall very soon. Don't overreact to the German fleet. If you moved to MAO, I suggest you go back to the Med as soon as possible. Frankly, a French fllet posted in the MAO is a constant threat to England, and I'd just as soon not have to watch my back. The alliance has been strong and succesful so far. Let's stick with it to the end. E --> R I have no further ambitions in Russia, and A Stp will support A Mos until the cows come home. I hope you and Turkey can hang on against Austria. La Parisienne: ============== WAR DEPARTMENT CHANGES PLANS, HEADS SOUTH (Marseilles, fall 1905) The President announced a change of military plans, and commanded the navy to secure the province of Tunis. "We saw an opportunity to accomplish two things: secure our southern border, and perhaps usher in a new era of cooperation between the great nations of France and Austria," he said. "If the campaign against the Pope goes well, it could go a long way toward eliminating the hostility between Austria and France." Regarding the promised support of English efforts to reclaim the North Sea, the President indicated that England should be able to accomplish this task without French help. "We still believe that reclaiming the North Sea is vital to England's survival, and will do whatever we can to assist those efforts," the President said. ALLIANCE WITH ENGLAND STILL STRONG (Paris, fall 1905) The government of France remains committed to the alliance forged with England several years ago. "Despite the recent setbacks, such as the loss of the North Sea, we are still on friendly terms with the English," the President said. "We strongly encourage England to regain control of the North Sea, and to remain friendly to the French." Berlin Bugle: - ============= Roman Herald: ============= To Austria: The Turk makes good sense on many points. I cannot allow myself to be surrounded by 2 giants, nor can I allow your demise. Perhaps you have some suggestions to offer. You will note that despite assisting in the change of Greece occupation, I am not so ambitious in your north. My advance on Trieste was to divert your forces and help Russia. It would appear that perhaps Russia does not seek such help. So be it. To Turkey: Your words are well spoken and do not fall upon unfriendly ears. To everyone else: I am late, and pressed for time. The italian people are ever ready to redress injustice. P.S. England: Will there be any hope of a reconciliation between the Pontif and the ArchBishop of Canterbury. Calls to France to invade Italian soil would indicate not.
