Thanks for those of you who pointed out who this mad-2 guy is. I was wondering about that. I do have one correction to make to the results posted yesterday. As Valentine pointed out, I said in my position report that both Russia and England have a fleet in Ska. This is obviously incorrect; England has the fleet in Ska, Russia'a is in Den. The report is apparently otherwise correct. Kevin Date: Mon, 15 Jul 91 18:16:13 EDT A Squalane update from your friendly neighborhood GM... Greetings... there will be no moves posted until Wednesday at the earliest, since one of the players has requested a two-day delay. I hope that that is enough time for the player in question; I think you guys have seen enough delays, and I can only GM for another month. Actually, I'll just go ahead and acknowledge receiving moves from Russia, Turkey, and Italy. So let's get going! Kevin Date: Wed, 17 Jul 91 18:24:31 EDT A Squalane update from your friendly neighborhood GM... Kevin Date: Thu, 18 Jul 91 19:46:56 EDT Greetings, all; I have the retreats from Russia and Italy. Italy retreats to Naf and Russia retreats to Hel. In the balloting on the Russian win proposal, I have already received a no vote, so I will consider the motion defeated. But I have a counter proposal on the floor for a joint Russian/Turkish win. Please try to vote on the new question before Monday's fall deadline. Your GM, Kevin Date: Sun, 21 Jul 91 16:05:05 EDT Howdy; I haven't gotten all the votes in yet on the RT win, so please get them in as soon as possible, or with the Fall moves due tomorrow. I should add that I made an error of omission; Turkey had ordered F Rom-Tys, and I neglected to type that in. However, the position statement is correct in noting a Turkish fleet in Tys but none in Rome. Thus, the error is more clerical than substantive. Anyway... Reminder; Fall 1913 is due, along with your vote, 1730 EDT tomorrow. Kevin Date: Mon, 22 Jul 91 18:33:22 EDT Howdy; Fall, 1913 results in SQUALANE! The RT win fails! War continues! You should get your results quite soon I hope. But now, I have to go and do some photocopying... Michael. Date: Wed, 24 Jul 91 14:50:23 +1200 Greetings! The Brusilov Offensive results are done and ready to go. I am just about to send them out. If you find any mistakes please let me know asap. Michael. Date: Wed, 24 Jul 91 14:56:44 +1200 The deadline for builds this winter is Saturday 27 JULY 0:00 GMT. Please endeavour to fulfil this. Remember that for most of you this corresponds to sending off your orders on Friday, (because New Zealand is so far ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to time-zones, (and other things too :-)) Thanks, Michael. Turkey : daybell@aludra.usc.edu/Donald Daybell Date: Wed, 10 Jul 91 13:40:36 CDT Well, folks, today I got the following note from Joris: > Date: Wed, 10 JUL 91 11:12:32 BST > From: PINKSE%VAX.LSE.AC.UK@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU > To: prb@chinet.chi.il.us > Subject: RE: Game #103 > Mailer: Janet_Mailshr V3.3a (02-Feb-1989) > > Yo folks, > > > > I'm drowning in work and I will be away frequently as well. Please remove me > from both games in which I am playing and of my GM-duties. Thanks. I will > adjudicate the coming season in Teunisgek. > > > Joris > Oi vey. This is a rather unusual situation in that the player bowing out is by far the largest nation on the board. I will of course seek a replacement (and don't expect any problem finding one, given the situation he would be stepping into!), but I can't help wondering if that's what you all want to happen, since somebody brand-new would be stepping into such a powerful position and might very well end up with a win practically handed to him on a platter (Christmas comes early this year...). So, let me hear from you. Three questions: 1) Should I just go ahead and find a replacement like I would normally? 2) If not, what would you like to see done instead? Call the game a draw, maybe restart a new one? SOmething else? 3) If a replacement player is the preferred option, my brother might be interested. This would have the advantages of a proven solid email link (he's a bit of an email wizard, actually, could be relied upon to fix any problems promptly), and no delay in the game (no need for a search for a player). Of course, you all would have to be comfortable with my assurance that there would be no advantage given him by the fact that his brother was the gm (if you knew us through the years, heh....believe me, the only temptation I would suffer would NOT be to help him!). That's just a thought, finding somebody else shouldn't be a problem. Replies ASAP, please! -- "Don't take life too serious; it ain't nohow permanent." - Walt Kelly Paul R. Botts email should be addressed to: prb@chinet.chi.il.us Date: Fri, 19 Jul 91 17:06:53 CDT Okay, we have a new Russia. He is Steve Tijn stal031@kub.nl (he was next on Eric's list of regular standbys). Every body should establish email connections with Steve ASAP. We'll have a Fall 1905 deadline of Friday July 26 10 pm CST. I have orders from England and France already, if I don't receive any new ones I'll use them. -- "Don't take life too serious; it ain't nohow permanent." - Walt Kelly Paul R.
