Warp Warp Speed Gunboat Diplomacy game being organized!!!! From: genesch@wam.umd.edu (Gene Schwartzman) Date: Thu, 18 Jul 1991 15:11:32 +0000 Howdy all you Diplomacy pbm'ers!!! I am trying to organize a Warp Warp Speed Gunboat Diplomacy game!! The rules are simple: 1) Since it's a gunboat game, nobody knows who the other person is. 2) The moves will be 1 per day - that's right 1 per day!!! 3) If you do not submit moves on a given day, your units hold and obey civil disorder rules, moves will be due 8:00 PM EST of every day, MON - FRI with SAT and SUN off, you will get results by next morning. 4) Send conditional adjustments and builds along with your moves, there will be no period where you will be able to see results before sending builds/ adjustments. 5) In the event of a complicated situation, I will resolve it in the best interest of a country. 6) There will be *NO* press! Let your actions do the talking! You are allowed to make illegal orders inorder to signal a hint or alliance such as: RUS A Mos S ENG F Nth.S. - Den That is the only way to communicate your intent to other player(s). You're alowed to make only *1* order per unit - i.e. your unit is allowed to either move, support one of your units, or 'support' somebody else's units. Of course fleets could also convoy. You are not allowed to write orders for other country's units. That is, Germany cannot submit a move like this - ENG F NTH.S. S GER A RUH - BEL as a signal to England that he desires such support, it is on the part of England to initiate a support. 7) The game should not take longer than 4 weeks, that way it will be done before my (and your) schedules get clogged up. 8) Suggest only those that log in regularly and have reliable accounts join this game (I know that just killed 90% of you :-) 9) You will be given 1 chance to not submit moves and I will attempt to contact you, 2nd NMR results in you being removed from the game. The first time a player NMR's his units will be considered to be in civil disorder and I will try to contact that player to determine if he is still in the game or not. Even if I succeed to contact the player, that move is still considered NMR (that's why you need a reliable system). The game will be put on hold until I contact the player to determine what's up. A second NMR will result in automatic replacement of the player, I will not even try to contact the person. Please note, this is ONLY in the event that I am not notified in advance that you will be gone or something. If I am notified, I will not NMR and handle each case as they come, i.e. either hold the game or find a replacement. 10) If you are interested send me your name, phone #, e-mail address and country preference list. Please include all 7 countries unless you really don't care what you get. Please send to schwartzman@envnet.gsfc.nasa.gov, it will get to me faster. I am looking for only 7 players, but if more respond, I might start up more games. 11) If you have any questions that I have not covered, let me know and I will try to answer them. Up
