Press: Vienna Tribune: =============== All: It's a SHORT season and so I shan't bother you with long-winded press, or discussions on boring topics like "what kind of moron would use a word like shan't?" England: I think France is giving you short shrift; he got a supply center this season at your expense. If I were you I'd make him share the wealth. France: Sorry, I'll have to refuse your generous offer of dividing Italy. He pulled out of Trieste, making me very happy; I owe him one. If you could do something about those armies in Munich and Kiel I'd be much more favorably disposed toward you. Not to say they're threatening... but they do make me feel awfully short. Germany: Despite your valiant efforts, France is poised to make short work of you. It's essential that you come to an agreement with England regarding Army Prussia. You may even get him to support you! Italy: Well done; you have regained my good will. In the Spring I would like to move F Alb a short distance to the Adriatic; that way I can support you in the Ionian or Venice. (Fleet Aegean should provide enough support for you to hang on to the Ionian in the Spring.) Also, Army Vienna will reenter Tyrolia to shield you from northern attacks. Russia: Hang tight. A short suggestion for next year: Spring War-Liv w/ Moscow support; Fall Mos-St. Pete w/ Liv support. Turkey: Okay, I'm ready to stop England and France short. All I need is a little non-aggression from a certain southeastern neighbor of mine. The Times: ========== England -> France I think that this should be the end of Germany. good luck on the Italian front... I suggest that A Kiel support F NTS to Den - in return, A Pru can support A Mun to Berlin. I'd like to clear Scandanavia quickly. England -> Europe Sorry for the delay. I promise to force the Royal Navy to pay attention for the next few years... La Parisienne: ============== INQUISITION FINDS POPE A HERETIC! (Rome, winter 1905) The latest French inquisition has determined that Pope Pompous, religious leader of Italy, is in fact a heretic. The government of France was shocked, and is determined to correct this problem ASAP. The President encourages the Austrian government to pursue a similar course of action. "It will be to the benefit of both nations to quickly dispose of this problem," he remarked. GOVERNMENT DENIES VICIOUS RUMORS SPREAD BY AUSTRIANS (Vienna, winter 1905) The foreign minister to Austria vehemently denies that the French worship the LA Lakers. "This is yet another of the all-too-typical Austrian attempts to malign the French," he said. "We officially blow our noses at the tiny brained wipers of other people's bottoms who propagate such inane rumors!" CONCERN OVER ENGLISH REACTION TO NAVAL BUILD (Brest, winter 1905) The President wishes to reassure the English that France has no hostile intentions toward England. "The presence of F Brest will probably cause the English to worry, and rightfully so," he said. "However, I will go on record saying that this fleet means no harm to the English homeland. Given the current state of affairs, we found it necessary to raise two fleets this year. With the possibility of a German marauder in the Channel, we believe that building a Northern fleet is justified. If the German fleet did slip into the Channel, it will require much cooperation between our navies to swiftly eject it. In this case, F Brest will support an English fleet into the Channel. If the Channel remains safe, the Northern fleet will occupy the Mid-Atlantic. Rest assured, the government of France is not planning any anti-English activities." ANGLO-FRENCH RENDEZVOUS PLANNED FOR 1906 (Paris, winter 1905) Plans are being made for an Anglo-French gathering somewhere in Germany during the coming year. "We are interested in English opinions on potential sites," the Minister of Entertainment said. "We will be happy to provide assistance in securing the necessary areas. The presence of English armies on the Continent will be a monumental occasion, and we want to be sure that it is appropriately celebrated!" Berlin Bugle: - ============= Roman Herald: ============= To Austria: Well now, you can join France and divide Italy between yourselves (giving the Anglo-Gallic alliance 2 or more supply centres, and you can bet France will build 1 extra fleet) or you can withhold an Austrian coup de grace and perhaps assist in the returning of German posessions from French domination. To Turkey: Italian survival overrides all other interests. I am incapable of involving myself in the affairs of Turkey. To Germany: I may be able to indirectly assist you, but for how long remains to be seen. To Russia: There's really nothing we can do for or against each other. To England: ditto. To France: I'm deeply hurt. Perhaps I can return the favour. Moscow Gazette: =============== To Austria: As you can see from my position, I'm in no position to attack from the east, thus I believe that you should consider very carefully Turkey's offers. I think that should be cautious in trying to deal with France - who is now in a position to take most of the centre. There is no reason for him to have a real alliance with you. It suits him for A/I/T/R bickering while E/F mop up Germany. To England: Thanks for the offer. I hope you see that I had to support into Lvn. To Italy: Brave moves - I hope it works out. To Turkey: We need A to move West, but he seems reluctant. Hang on until the French menace beomes too great. Perhaps you could move Aeg into EME, thus freeing Ser, Bud, to go north. The support of Sev will be remembered. Ankara Bulletin: ================ Austria: Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Does a 10 center France poised for more in Italy, Germany and even (minor stab) England sound like a friendly neighbor? He will not be satisfied with just a few centers, or even one. I will. Let up on us, move west. You haven't made any headway against our puny forces in the last year - do you expect it will be any easier with active French units on your border? To this point Russia, Italy and I have acted reasonably in the face of your aggression. If you fail to react to the very real French threat we have no course of action left but to become unreasonable and undermine you, letting France take it all. If Italy disbands in the Ionian I will support your Grecian fleet to that space. Italy: I think your retreat was a bit hasty. France isn't going to hold back this time, and four units would have been better than three. Good luck.
