New PBeM starting up From: boutell@brahms.udel.edu (Thomas B Boutell) Date: Sun, 07 Jul 1991 23:19:13 +0000 Just for the hell of it, I'm launching a new Play- By- Email game. It's called Cosmos, it's human moderated (I'm moderating it), and I'm accepting up to 20 players, tops, for the first run. Yes, a lot of the rules are being developed on the fly, but I've played in these things before and learned from mistakes during other attempted startups, and I intend to stay the course with this game. What's it like? Each player is the leader of a race on the verge of exploring space. Players get to decide their own description for both their species and their homeworld, provided it falls within the bounds of their scores- which they are able to distribute from an available pool of 100 points between intelligence, physical stamina, technology, culture, adaptability, psychic abilities and homeworld size. During the early stages of the game, players will explore their own star systems and refine their own identity in the game. When players begin to encounter each other, politics, cultural exchanges, combat and trade will begin. All of it will be human- moderated, but I keep a complete paper trail of past moves, allowing me to be reliable without losing the creative edge. Moves will take place once a week once the game is up and moving, and when the rules have been further refined they will be released to permit others to run the game. So what are you waiting for? Let me know if you want to play and I'll send you the setup rules so you can start working on your race and homeworld! -- Isn't it really annoying when people babble on and on in their .signature to the point where you can't seem to find the information you really wanted from it which boutell@brahms.udel.edu was probably just their email address if anything but it's buried in all this other silly junk? Bummer, man. Up
