Re: Monster Island PBM From: warden@triton.unm.edu (Scott Micheel) Date: Wed, 02 Oct 1991 06:04:52 +0000 The brand-new revised *Third Edition Rules* for Monster Island are now available, FREE, along with a free setup and first turn, from Advs. By Mail, Box 436, Cohoes NY, 12047. Among the other things, the laser-printed output has undergone an upgrade; maps are twice a large, and many new icons have been included. Each turn a player gets several pages of results. Note that the new command 'Recenter Map' actually is more powerful than it says in the rules. If you include a note to the GM (Jack), he will recenter your map to *any* coordinates at the start of your turn, not just to 0,0. This is very helpful for groups of monsters that want to use the same coordinate system. Also included in the rules this time is the first ever general map of Monster Island. I found out that my Stompin Rocksoul is indeed on the very northermost coast of the Upper Gwardon region. Stompin Rocksoul is a Mudwalker of some small ability, who just recently became an Acolyte of the Dark God. Among other things, this means that if I ever die, I can be ressurected by my god. Anyone out there who has played Monster Island; have you ever found a class-1 or class-3 Pole weapon? My trusty Crude Spear (class-2) works well, but the next weapon in this category is the Smite Pike (class-4), at least that I have found. Has anyone encountered the new races of Abra Koli or Ku Bom Ba Du? Where would you find them? And it seems to me that Normans are the rarest monster race. Yet they are the most skilled at battle and physically the strongest. Are they just rare in my corner of the island? -- +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ If you wanted to make Sarok the Preparer cry, well, mission accomplished. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Scott Micheel warden@triton.unm.edu Up
