Interest Survey From: jacobus@mentor.cc.purdue.edu (Kirsten C. Jacobus) Date: Tue, 24 Sep 1991 03:51:43 +0000 I've a mind to run a PBeM game of a slightly different stripe than others of which I know. What I want to run is not a PBeM version of some RPG, nor is it a sport or military simulation. Instead, I would like to run a "social simulation". What I mean by this is that each player would control a society. I envision the game as being completely open-ended. Goals would be up to the individual players. The population and area would be relatively small (to keep things easy on me). Technology would verge around late iron age (again, to keep things easier on me). In general, it would be a somewhat free-wheeling thing, since I would administer it by hand. Whether the game is economic, diplomatic, or military would depend on the players, since they would run their realms. Anyone with interest should mail to at756@cleveland.freenet.edu and answer the following questions: Would you prefer a settled or nomadic people? Rate your people (on a relative 1-10) scale as to how they fare in the following areas: (Note, this is a RELATIVE scale, so 10 in every category is exactly the same as 1 in every category). Also note that these are preferences and for balance reasons may not turn out exactly how you wish, but I will try to keep your preferences in mind: Metallurgy Engines/Mechanics Weapons Armors Settlements Agriculture Animals Textiles Ships Civil Defense Political Structures Religious Structures Legal System Communication Economics (Yes, I know that rating some of these things doesn't follow the cultural relativist party line, but it's an aid for me.) Physically, what do your people look like? Describe the "basic personality" of your people. Would you be willing to play in a "fantastic" world (one with non-human sentient races, etc.)? What sort of turn timing would you prefer? Do you prefer lots of politicking/diplomacy? If not, what do you prefer? Would you like for the "divine" to be an active presence in the world? Any other details you wish: Remember, send the reply to at756@cleveland.freenet.edu Up
